They tore the stage out that night. I remember our local DJs here in north FL talking about it the next day, it was unreal. Never saw an awards show crowd stand the whole time someone was playing, and also gotta shout out to the band on this one, they freaking KILLED it, god level.

Even my 83 yr ole mom says this is the best live performance she’s ever seen .. y’all need to react to the video JT and Chris Stapleton Say Something .. they did it live in one shot !! This was Chris’s first CMA person and that night he won new artist of the year , album of the year, and Male vocalist of the year .. he just blew up that night changed his life forever !! And JT is so talented ..

The guy that Asia said is smiling to is Lee Brice .. a great songwriter and country singer .. he was actually in tears watching this .. and Keith Urban up front in the audience recording it w his phone ! I mean artists just don’t do that !! They took us to church.. lv JT’s TN Kids are Memphis musicians .. they just got soul .. I saw them on the Grammys when Justin performed.. they are amazing

Chris and his wife Morgane have great stage presence then you go and throw Justin in the mix and Justin’s got more swagger on stage than anybody except maybe Garth Brooks, and it makes for an unforgettable performance by those three!

They killed that performance the whole way through on both songs. It still gives me chills to watch that. I just happened to turn on the TV and the country music awards ceremony was on and I was so lucky to catch that. They took that whole audience to church and back and I don't think that all the people in the audience knew just what the heck was going on no matter how many venerable performers were in that audience.

This is one of the best colabs ever in my opinion...they killed it! Every person on that stage was feeling it. That year Chris had won New Artist of the Year. I heard or read that when CMA asked Chris to sing he did yeah and that Justin would be with him that they have him two spots instead of the normal one spot for the performance. I guess they also knew how spectacular the performance would be! Say Something with these two is also amazing!! Not sure if you reacted to that yet but it was done in one take and live! Only true pros can do something like that.

Asia, your smile was me during JT’s concert a couple of years ago. I liked his music but wasn’t a huge fan. Went to a concert w/a friend & became a HUGE fan after seeing him live. It’s a whole show: music, dancing, lights & so much energy. We danced the entire time. I’ve seen Chris too, but he just stands and sings. He’s very subdued. You two are adorable. 🧡🧡

Such a memorable awards moment. The duet Chris does with H.E.R. just this year was so good, too. If you want to hear more of Morgane, her voice gets a little more spotlight in their cover of "Amanda" the did at The Grand Ole Opry.

This probably sounds like his records so closely because Chris records his songs old school style, with the whole band in the recording studio together, instead of one instrument at a time layered on top of each other like most artists these days.

The music industry is one that will always surprise you. The singers of different genres mix and mingle so much that it is mind boggling. You would think that a lot of these singers would never meet much less being good friends and even perform together. Here is a very small list of singers that have collaborated on songs together, Nelly & Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley & LL Cool J., Carrie Underwood & Ludacris, Billy Ray Cyrus & Lil Nas X, Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney, Run-Dmc & Aerosmith, Def Leppard & Tim McGraw, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan, George Jones & Keith Richards, Kid Rock & Travis Tritt, Carrie Underwood & Steven Tyler, Willie Nelson & Ray Charles, Lionel Richie & Kenny Rogers and the list goes on and on and on. The one that really surprised me was when I saw a video of Elvis Presley singing with Frank Sinatra, that was a duet I would have never of dreamed of happening, but it did, and they sounded awesome, as Frank Sinatra said, "Man that was pretty".

Y'all should truly check out some CMT crossroads. They take people you'd never think would sound good together and it's amazing. One of my faves was Boys II Men and Brett Young and Allison Krauss and Robert Plant. Those two collabs were great impo.
