This is how the national anthem should be played/sung, period. Probably the fourth time I've heard Chris sing this, but I get goosebumps every single time.

Usually when I hear that song I don't really pay attention to the words.. But Chris Stapleton made me FEEL THOSE WORDS

This made tears come to my eyes Chris is just so talented and his voice is just raw and so powerful

After millions of performances before this, he set a new standard. Anything less than this is unacceptable.

After hearing this version of the National Anthem, I now want to hear of more male vocalists with guitars being invited to perform it in future Superbowls. Then I get a little sad thinking how Chris Cornell would have sounded. Chris Stapleton made it about the song, not him. That's why it's one of the best versions to date.

The fact this man use to deliver pizza for Pizza Hut says he still keep his name tag in his medicine cabinet to remind him to stay humble

With his talent and voice, he could have ramped up and done a hundred different things with this song....he didn't...he picked up his guitar and serenaded the whole country...and brought us together as Americans, if only for a couple minutes. Sung with dignity, respect, soul, and feeling the way it should be. I'm in my 60's... this and Whitney Houston have set the gold standard for this song, and it will be tough to ever beat.

Thank you! I spoke of it not being over the top and done with grace, patriotism and humility and Chris made it about the anthem, as it should be, instead if himself. Chris doesn't have to prove anything. He's already done that. The other reactor told me to keep my negative comments to myself. What was negative? I loved Chris rendition of the anthem. Especially since I know the backstory that the verses are actually a blow by blow account of what the author. Frances Scott Key, witnessed on the night, during the War of 1812, when the British were trying to take the USA back over. Our patriots physically held our flag up, knowing it was certain death from bombs and cannons, so it wouldn't fall, signaling surrender to the British. They held that flag up for HOURS and when they died, others took their place to keep our flag from touching the ground. That's why we don't let it touch the ground to this day. I've seen that flag, flown over that fort that night, at The American History Museum at the Smithsonian. So many have died, and still do, to protect us and keep us free. I'm very patriotic and PROUD of my country and my flag and what she stands for. God Bless America 🇺🇸 and thank you sir, for your reaction. May God bless you always.

It doesn't get any better. Chris nails it time and time again effortlessly. 1st time I heard him on the outlaw radio I was wondering how come he hadn't lit up the charts. Well, year's later and here we are, enjoying the raw talent and energy that he brings everytime he performs.

I loved his performance. The military stuff was weird as a Canadian watching, but typical of America. But it was a great rendition, a unique take but true to the tradition of the anthem. I reviewed this too on my last live stream.

What Chris Stapleton did was take the Star Spangled Banner back to it's roots. It was a poem that years later got matched to a British drinking song "To Anacreon in Heaven". It is hard to sing with it's octave and a half range. Ever since 1991 Super Bowl in Tampa - Whitney Houston set the gold standard. For 32 years peeps have been trying to match or surpass Whitney and to be honest they have in their efforts shredded the song to pieces. Chris Stapleton took it back to the roots, to the poem. He did not play a single note on the guitar of the Star Spangled Banner. He sang the words with his style. And you are correct, he didn't over or under do it. If you are a fan of Chris, you know he can do a ton more vocally. But he sang the power of Francis Scott Key's poem back to America and we responded at a gut level. Chris Stapleton's performance put him on the same level as Whitney Houston's rendition.
