I just got the CD and then cussed out all my white friends for not telling me about him sooner! He doesn't just sing but makes you experience the words!
You have me in tears, but smiling and happy all at once!! Never fails!!! I think you would have to have ice in your veins not to be moved by this song and the artist that brought it to life!
My Spotify playlist gives people nightmares. Thousands of songs, no organization, no theme. It'll go from southern rock to funk to 90s country to Norwegian punk to Mongolian throat singing in a span of about 15 songs.
This is country... When I was a kid my daddy said is country is the white mans blues and the blues is the black mans country...a famous person said it originally dont remember who it was but Chris Stapleton is legit country with a soul to his voice that knows no color like all great music does. Glad you loved it.
I've seen a few reactions to this song and consistently it surprises people, and I love seeing the wide eyes and big smiles whenever he hits those insane runs.
Well I think it's like that song video killed the radio star. People used to just care about how the music sounded now they care about the image and some artists don't get appreciated without having the right "look" for the sound I guess that is why X factor makes the judges choose blind the actual justice system is supposed to be like that too because souls don't have a colour either.
Chris is playing lead guitar also! He is a songwriter and started singing his songs!! He was valedictorian of his class. I buy everything he puts out. You probably know all of this by now.. Enjoyed listening to Tennessee Whiskey with you...Chris is fantastic!!
@Zane Fairchild Americana, anytime you find a singer/band that doesn't properly fit into say country, R&B, blues, folk and so on, but it's unmistakably tied to American music genres. Problem is when one of em gets big, they kinda get shoehorned into one of the more mainstream genres that don't fully fit them. For Chris, because he has the country twang, that's where they tossed em in.
Man when I first heard this song, I nearly fell out of my body. I grew up as a musician and had music through out my life to comfort me. This song brought me to tears. I grew up listening to Muddy Waters, BB King, Elvis, and countless others. You could say Blues, Southern Rock and Country runs through my veins, but this song shocked the hell out of me the first time I heard it! Im a drummer and can't play a lick on guitar which Chris does like any of the masters and his singing takes you to the deepest emotions of the song. The man who wrote this song also has a story you should look into. Maybe you should look him up! Written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. It was originally recorded by American country music artist David Allan Coe for his album of the same name Tennessee Whiskey, whose version peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1981. Chris however revived it and put heart and should into it. I loved your reaction to it. Just goes to show, that every song is worth trying when it tells an honest story. Here's another by Chris you should take a listen to, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sI0TeFf6uD8.html. It has angels in it.
Oh, seriously!! You so need to look up Chris Stapleton and JT live at the cma's, both Tennessee Whiskey and I Can't Drink You Away. They both are incredible!!
that's how i came to know about him. I knew jT, but his music was never my thing. I'm an old Metalhead, and Chris and JT's duet totally fucked me up, in a good way.
Thats his wife, Morgane, singing the harmony. She's an amazing singer in her own right. Look up their live version of You Are My Sunshine, where she sings lead, I promise its not what you expect, its so dang good!
I found this song by accident on you tube but it was a daughter video taping her Dad singing along to the radio....I had to look it up and was completely blown away JUST LIKE YOU!
He has done took that old song that we have listened to here in my state of TENNESSEE, and made it his own.. He is Great. I am glad a few are staying country
I love u man!!! 1st vid and new subbie. I have the same reaction to Chris. I have to play one part 100 times before continuing. He's GREAT!!!!!! You're GREAT!!!
He is just taking it back to it's roots. Country, rap and rock all evolved out of the blues. Too much current rock, rap and country is moving towards being pop music, which is an instant station switch for me.
Country Music sucks now a days. All Music, Sports, ect have "Golden Eras" "Silver Eras". Country Music now adays sounds like Boy Band Music. There is alot of exceptions obviously but they are exceptions. Best country Music is Outlaw Country which was the Golden Era of country and the Silver Eras are the Old Timey 50s/60s music and 90s country. Modern Country or at least the Mainstream "Hits" that play on Radio, Music Video, etc is largely trash.
bamachine you are so right. He even covered this song. Parachute is a really great song as well. Chris Stapleton is the only mainstream country music I listen to. Someone really needs to bring back the fiddle and steel guitar.
@@thomasdemay9805 seriously. Seems like all you need to do nowadays to make it big on the country scene is to wear a cowboy hat and sing with a fake southern accent.
I actually cried while watching this reaction. Not because it was a particular emotional reaction but because you look and act so much like my dad who passed away in 2011. Anyway, great reaction
@@shawni321 Thank you, that is a good way to see it. It's partly the reason I subscribed to this channel. Aside from all of his great videos of course lol
So good to see young folks listening to good music. I love all your video's, even if I don't particularly like the music. Your reactions to all of them are fantastic! And those dancing eyebrows are so net.
I love two things about this video one is the song just found Chris about a year ago starting wt this tune and been a fan ever since!! Two your reaction I love when you get that #SAYWHAT look on your face and then seeing how much you enjoyed it really makes me smile!!! Thanks for another great reaction!!!!!
Thank you for the comment sis. Be sure to check out other things this channel offers besides reaction video. Go to my playlist and check out other topics like, comedy, day in the life, etc
But also Sam Cooke could easily be singing on this. It has a lot of R&B in it, this particular song anyway. When he said it was like what his mom listened to, I'm sure that's the kind of thing he was talking about, and why it sounds familiar.
Ok...I never even knew there were reaction videos for this but I have literally watched them all in the past few days and you win. Your smile once you hear he is a SANGER is every non country music fans reaction.
I love this version of this. I also love (even more) the Postmodern Jukebox version. I listen to EVERY genre. I never turn something down because of a genre. Taught my kids to do the same. They are in their 30s and listen to everything. Just depends on the mood.
Loving watching your reactions sir, as you travel along on your music discovery. Blues, Rock, Gospel and Country all come from the same place which is why they cross over so well - heart felt and story telling.
For my niece at my lil bro’s/her father’s funeral I had Stapleton’s Broken Halos played. If you’ll listen to the lyrics it’s as if my brother was singing this. Many thanks to Stapleton for this song.
He has been a writer for many country stars & made hits for them. He just started singing the last few yrs with a push from his wife. She sings with him a lot!! My favorite version of this is at the awards when he sings this & another one with Justin Timberlake & his Chris's wife. You can really hear Chris's voice blow this version away!!! You'd never imagine these three together, but it a sight to see & hear & the 2nd song(the two are back to back)is well, this is how they put it, Nashville can we put some Memphis up in here!!! Phenomenal!!
@That Girl35 he did a reaction to that one. He liked it but wasnt blown away. If you watch that video amd other gospel classics he tells you it has to really have a special twist of some type because he has grown up on it and heard it 50-11 thousand times so it isnt really moving for him unless it has that extra special ummph to it.
Chris is from Eastern Kentucky, Paintsville, Johnson county, ... WE here as SOOOOO very proud of him... Not only is he a GREAT singer and WONDERFUL songwriter, he is, as my Grandmother would say, good people....He gave $57,000.00 worth of instruments to his Alma Mater, Johnson County High School, he also performed 2 free concerts there as well..
this song is 'hidden' in each of my spotify playlists that range from rap, disco, r+b, hip hop, rock,..etc.,. something about Tennessee Whiskey tugs on my soul strings.. and I'm obsessed.. cant get enough!!!
George Strait - You can't make a heart love somebody George Strait & Allan Jackson-Murder on Music Row (try them two George Strait is known as the love man of country music)
God created the rainbow and it's a thing of beauty for your eyes to behold. Man creates music, our senses feel it, our ears hear it, our brains feed off of it and our hearts are changed by it.
This Is One of those songs you'll never forget and will always love and listen to your whole life and never get tired of it will stay with you forever...if you know and are a true music lover and I mean of real music..
Chris is from Prestonsburg in Johnston County Ky. When this song was first released he came back home and did a free concert at the high school (if memory serves me right). Its only 2 lanes in front of the high school and on that day during that concert you were either stuck on this side(Walmart )or that side(Paul B Hall hospital) of the school...lol...oh Lord have mercy I do remember that day...lol....btw check out Benson Milio(?) doing Tennessee Whiskey/ Blue Aint Your Color...Absolutley amazing...
Ty...oftentimes to pick me up during '19', I'll tune in to your site and watch with you, your reactions to my favorite songs....again, cause I' ve said it before... it's like watching with a friend....
