@Yes, he just wrote songs for everyone else but Morgane gave him the confidence and where with all to get his singing career going. They have 5 children but keep their family life super private. Morgane is also a song writer. Great couple.

I believe the woman with him is his wife. I've heard Chris used to be a song-writer, and she convinced him to stop turning other people into superstars, and go be one for himself.
@@dcmc7383 correct! David Allen Coe recorded it in '81, and then George Jones in '83. Stapleton used to sing it as a warm up song during sound checks, when a producer heard it, and suggested he record the song as well. Do you think they guessed it would go Platinum?

Hi guys. Jack Daniels and Jim Beam are considered sour mash whiskeys. They are actually bourbons but if it isn't distilled in the state of Kentucky it can't be called bourbon. Anyway, this song was a big hit for the greatest country music singer of all time (in a lot of opinions) George Jones. A lot of " new country" listeners hear Chris and say they now love country music. Truth is even though Chris plays a lot of country songs his style is more blues than country. It is great though whatever you call it. The beautiful lady with the amazing harmony is Chris' wife Morgane. They do sound amazing. Don't know if you guys are familiar with Stevie Ray Vaughan. @@mkb9885 Yes he did. I just meant to say that Jones had a bigger success with it. In fact Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove wrote it and showed it first to George Strait who of course recorded so many Dean Dillon songs. George didn't feel it was right for him and passed on it. Happy Holidays.

I was just saying that a lot of his stuff is more bluesy that country, and it is. I am a big blues fan as well. Wasn't taking anything away from DAC (who I have seen in concert as well) or Chris. I just thought that being new to country these guys might not know DAC but might have heard of George Jones. It was more to inform them that it wasn't a Chris original. I understand very well the fact that those genres are all intertwined. My point was if Stevie Ray Vaughan had recorded He stopped loving her today, he would have done it as a blues version (which I am sure I would have loved,) and that's what Chris does a lot of the time. Not an insult just an observation. I happen to love Chris' music, and DACs. Last I checked Guys don't get to decide what other people think man, even if they type in caps. Enjoyed your point if view. We’ve listened to Chris Stapleton for years, and funnily enough like you said we had Tennessee Whiskey as our first dance at our wedding. I will say, this isn’t his best performance of Tennessee Whiskey. Worth checking out some others. As far as “other music like this”, it’s tough because Stapleton is classed as country, but his music is influenced by Blues music so much. We were lucky to watch Stapleton both in the US and in Dublin, where he shared the stage with one of his influences Lyle Lovett. A song to check out Stapletons vocals, is ‘sometimes I cry’. It’s outrageous.
Singing harmony with him is his wife Morgane Hayes Stapleton. She's a terrific singer inher own right. Check out their cover of "You Are My Sunshine" where she sings lead.

If the information I have is correct, I believe that he was originally a songwriter who strictly wrote songs for other artists. One day someone (can't recall if it was a family member or a friend) asked him why he doesn't sing/record anything he writes and apparently he felt he didn't have what it takes to do them justice. After watching that performance, can you actually believe he had that much self doubt?! The man is literally a living legend.
Listen to all of chris stapletons stuff he is one of the biggest writers in country music as well having written like 300 songs or something for big artists also check out Tyler Childers for another good independent soulful country artist

Love that you guys have found Stapleton. His wife Morgane is the female singer, she was really pregnant at this performance. He is primarily a song writer and has several #1 hits by other artists. Margane is the one who convinced him to perform.

It feels like it's just a little too important to the songwriter and singer to prove "Oh, look at me and how sensitive I am! How I emote!") Back to Jack Daniels, you kind of have to drink it with coke. As whisky's go, it's too much of a buzz saw and needs some taming down. For a cheaper whisky that I could drink straight, it'd be more like Wild Turkey or (if you can get past the name) Knob Creek. Which reminds me... I have to go oil something. It's making a squeaking sound.

No joke, I have a digital copy of this song by CS that was edited to add some surprisingly tasteful low-low 28-32hz bass notes in it. When I play it in my (fully stocked with Digital Designs Car Audio goodness!) Jeep, you quite literally feel every single note. I'm kinda into my car audio.. I just have a DD M4b on a DD 9518i, nothing major. It's a conservative 5000 watts RMS going to a single monstrosity of a subwoofer. I've got quite to digitak collection of famous songs that have editted with super low, super clean bass.
