It actually makes sense that it didn't work for the film. It's tonally quite different. But it'd be spectacular in another film. Chris is just phenomenally talented.
I couldn't click on this fast enough when I saw the notification. The song off the new album that I am waiting to see a live performance of is "Higher" because he stretches' himself vocally on that one. I watched an interview where he said "Higher" sort of scares him because the audio version is him on a good day. It's my guess that he would kill it live too. South Dakota from that same album is another good one with a great heavy on the guitar blues funk to it.
Chris is in a class by himself. I could listen to him all day. I agree with the light thing. Overly bright lights and too much strobe lighting usually triggers a migraine for me. Blake Shelton has recorded six songs that were written by Chris. He also wrong "If It Hadn't Been for Love" that Adele sings. There are a lot of other songs he has cowritten as well.
Oh, one of my favorite Stapleton songs. Thanks you for that reaction. Last August I went to a Chris Stapleton concert and that was fantastic. Great reaction.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Europeans stay put. The eat, drink, pee before the concert starts, then don’t leave their place until the concert is over. Just all attention on the artist. Americans move around constantly. Get out, get food during the performance, come back, leave again, come back and basically are constantly getting food, drinks, go pee and start all over again. Lmao

Chris sets himself apart from many country singers in his fearlessness on guitar. He's not the best player, not even in the same conversation as Gill, Paisley and Urban, but his phrasing and sense of timing and space are impeccable. Most vocalists with half his talent are content to either go guitarless or stand there with a decorative guitar strapped on for looks and to strum a few chords, Stapleton drives the songs with his playing.
I love technical chops, but, in the end, solid phrasing tends to win out. I was pointing out to Dustin how my favorite guitarist, Rhoads, was a master of shredding technical badassery, while keeping the solos melodic. The better my ear gets with time, the more I'm interested in that, and the less interested I am in "how many notes and what crazy technique can I shove into a single bar." - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts very well put. It's why as much as I admire players like Vai and the like, it's the ones who know the value of silence and when to employ it tastefully that really catch my ear. Gilmour, BB King, Robert Cray, Warren Haynes, all players with chops AND the taste to know when less is more.
loved your intro to 'white horse' - really good - other songs to hear (if you haven't already commented): cold - north dakota - barely alive - i was wrong - cover of its a man's world - either way - death row - sometimes i cry - higher - but there are so so many other past and current songs not mentioned . listen to the lyrics! totally amazing.. (live versions are truly great) ! Amazing singer and songwriter!
@BourbonCountryReacts hey guys. You got it backwards I believe…Chris began his career writing for other artists. Now he mostly writes for himself. Occasionally he writes for artists who ask him to write a song. That’s paraphrasing what he said in a interview a couple years ago. Thanks
My son isn't able to go to concerts and many programs due to the heavy strobing because he is an epileptic. He had actually went several years without a seizure and then went to a show and wound up being rushed by ambulance due to having such a severe seizure. Every since they haven't been controlled again.
Great job guys! Glad you liked the Rare Breed and the song as well. Im surprised yall werent more aware of the Rare Breed. It usually runs around $45-55 depending on location.
PS: 10:45 "Was that Carrie?" No, I believe that was Carly Pearce. Also the blonde on stage on the tambourine is his wife Morgane Stapleton. Neither of them are hideous, lol.
I could be wrong, but I don't think there's an acoustic guitar being played. In the back row you have a guy playing steel, a drummer, and a guy on keyboards. Front row left to right you have a guitarist playing an SG, Stapleton playing his electric guitar, his wife playing tambourine, and a bass player. Not hating, just making an observation. Enjoy the channel...
This is my favorite song from him he is unbelievable. I would love to see y’all react to some Cooper Alan preferably “Take Forever Hallys Song” or “Never Not Remember You” these are some of my favorites!!
If you really want some raw Chris Stapleton listen to “what are you listening to” the live version on a radio show It’s a kick back drink bourbon and watch a fire burn kind of song. Possibly his best song yet
Take care of the ear's guys. My favorite band was the Who and they were loud enough you didn't need a ticket to hear them at the Boston Garden if they were sold out. The heavy equipment in the Army Engineers and the punch presses and air arc noise and heat in fabrication shops 'Westinghouse Electric' took their toll on mine. Yes, I used protection, ear plugs & earmuffs but I still uttered that huh word to often without hearing aids. I'm tone deaf & needed lyrics to know what Chris was singing about today. The review was good as always, thanks!
I like your reactions to the songs, but I'm more here for the whiskey. I've never gotten wild turkey because of the "regular" stuff... but now that I see this, I'm gonna be on the lookout for Rare Breed.
Your next Stapleton song should be paired with Buffalo Trace's newest release Traveller. It's a collab with Chris Stapleton named after his album and song of the same name. Odd thing, it's the only blended whiskey i know of BT making rather than bourbon.
The lights remind me of combat at times so a no no situation, actually went to a forth of July fireworks after back for two weeks let’s just say it want a pretty site
Fireworks shows aren't a problem for me. But when neighbors pop them off at random on a non-fireworks holiday, I get a little twitchy for a couple of minutes. New years, fourth of July, no worries at all. It's unexpected kabooms that turn my radar up. - Keith
