This weeks’ podcast guest is quite simply a living legend of carp fishing, a true maverick, original and a man who is so timelessly unique in ever single way. We can’t quite believe that we managed to get him on the podcast but here he is, it’s the one and only Chris Yates.
Chris talks in depth about his upbringing and what has shaped him, his lifestyle and his angling choices of vintage tackle and places off the beaten track. He talks about his love for wildlife and how he “feels” his way through life.
On the infamous Redmire and Chris share his timeless experiences on the famous water including his friendship with Rod Hutchinson, his capture of the then British Record Carp “The Bishop” at 53lb+ and a host of other recollections about his time on there.
Chris talks about his venture into filming including the famous series “A Passion For Angling”, filming for Sticky Baits “Reflections” and his recent work on a RU-vid video for Adidas! He also shares his thoughts on his angling moving forward as well as talking about his writing projects that are currently keeping him busy.
This podcast just like the man is both charismatic and enchanting, they certainly broke the mould when they made Chris, sit back and enjoy over two hours in the company of a living carp fishing legend.

I remember being about 12 years old and reading his writings for the first time. He became a hero and huge influence on me from then on. Me and most of the rest of you lot too I assume. I wonder if he knows how many of us feel this way about him. He was a huge influence on me and my relationship with nature and of course carp. Thanks for this

His voice is just fishing to me ! Listening to him and bob and Bernard narrating was just epic, and gives u the same feel you get when your stalking a carp at last knockings, then lights going and you can still see fish all over your bait and that feeling you have in that moment is what watching and listening to Chris has does for me and he will always be a hero in my eyes

I really enjoy these podcasts, i'm even mentioned in one😅 This is the best one by far, When chris talks he reminds of the old boy we all knew as young anglers starting our journey, the tales they would tell you, infectious tales of monster fish, and encouragent to go out and get em! Chris is THE old school angler, such a chilled out, humble angler and person, could listen to him for hours. 👏👏 Top podcast

Wow, so fantastic to see Chris Yates on your podcast Hassan. Congratulations. Chris Yates was the first angling name I ever knew when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s. He caught carp which were beyond our comprehension at the time. Before the word's, "Carp fishing" or "Carp angler" were even known. It was great to hear Chris talk about the importance of simplicity in his angling and how he feels complexity clouds his mind and stops him from focussing on the most important part of angling which is finding the carp and presenting a bait to them without them knowing it's connected to a line. Wonderful stuff.

I just love to listen to the tales and stories of the myths and legends surrounding Redmire Pool. What was and what might have been and i also always wonder just how large Harry was from PFA “Monster Myths” episode. Credit to Hassan for this brilliant episode with arguably the most well known and iconic person in fishing history 👏👏👏

The essence of Angling without a company name even mentioned , or a product Ad . It’s not the era I’ve fished in but there’s something so very real, humble & simple in his approach. He completely captures your imagination & the real reasons we go fishing . Brilliant watch . Wicker creel 👌🏻
