So so sad to see so much of my childhood city gone, all those memories are all that I have left Left chch in 1991.. and returned briefly between 2002/2004 I’m sure that they will rebuild but it will never be the same 😢 And thank you for the video!!
Thank you so much. Just found this tonight.I grew up in Christchurch but moved away 20 years ago. The tears are still flowing. The Amuri Courts is where my daughter worked and we often visited her there and had lunch either in that block or on Oxford Terrace.
I very much enjoyed watching this. Wonderful to see so many old haunts. The City I loved and still miss. As I've lived on Salisbury St for nearly 22yrs it was nice to see the old buildings where it intersects with Montreal and Victoria at 17-24sec. My exercise route still comes through there. There are new buildings on both sides as you show it. One small wooden one has survived. Even more have disappeared since 2012. An update would be much appreciated and then again in 5 or 6 years when even more has been filled in.
I was living in Australia at time of quakes. My first visit of Christchurch City did not happen until January 2019. I made Christchurch my home between March and December 2019 so very familiar with "new City Centre" noting how many " Wilsons Carparks" exist though. Some of the landmarks remaining in "after" pictures gives me better conception of landscape I've been viewing.
Still unbelievable at times and the rebuild is a mess. Projects getting put back further and further. There is not enough money. So much has been wasted...and still people waiting for their homes to be fixed...
Cantab in Brisbane this hurts, just makes me realise what's important in life, getting home is now my life's goal. I am guessing the OP is 40+ my generation :P
Wow it's really amazing how much is changed imagine someone leaping forward in time from 80s or 90s and a lot of streets have changed and a lot of buildings disappeared 🤔
