Driving in New Zealand - Colombo Street, Christchurch 4K UHD
Colombo Street is a main road of the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. It runs south-north through the centre of Christchurch. Colombo Street is an iconic street in Christchurch and New Zealand with some of the New Zealand's most well known sites on it.
It has changed a lot after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake with lots of buildings being demolished. Over the last year though the rebuild has picked up and now we are seeing lots of new developments popping up. 2016 should see a lot more people coming back to the city center and Colombo Street.
Living in New Zealand is a wonderful experience and we hope to bring you the foods, sights, sounds, culture and many more things about life in New Zealand.

Wow, this looks so different to current day Colombo Street, as I bike up it quite a lot. Biggest difference for me was between Hereford and Tuam st, where the big tree in the Hereford intersection has been claimed by a bank building, all the empty view on the left closer to Tuam St is now buildings, and the bus interchange is actually complete. Pretty cool to see older CHCH compared to today

I miss the old Colombo street. The old CBD, The KFC and donut cart on South city mall, the cathedral square of yesteryear.. I was last in the remnants of the old Christchurch CBD in June 2014 the first time since February 2006 and since the quakes... honestly couldn't recognise Colombo st yet the CHCH CBD that I once knew. My last time in CHCH was November 2016 but in riccarton so thus didn't have time to see the progress made in the old CBD since 2014

Yeah a lot has changed over the last few years but all for the best and lets hope we can make it better and some new memories.

Very sad that Central Christchuch CBD lost many of its buildings. I was there in November 2014 & Downtown Christchurch looked like a patchwork quilt of vacant lots where many buildings had been demolished subsequent to the "Big One" in February 2011. Hope things will very soon change for the better.

Great video mate, awesome quality & nicely stabilized :) I now live in the UK but Chch is my home town - so sad to see almost everything gone :( When i get back there most people are upbeat & looking forward to the new city - I wish everyone there all the best. I'm guessing all the construction is from the earthquake? and other question is in an earthquake, how much things fall of shelves. We are buying a house there and we need to know if we need the extra safe shelving. Sorry for weird questions!

FlameTank Yes everything is from the earthquake. As for the shelving. Right now Chch isn't having that many earthquakes (can't remember the last one) so it really isn't a problem with stuff falling off but to be on the safe side it would be good to have safe shelves especially if you have kids.

If you build it they will come right?! The CCC has to build it because that is the direct we are going. More and more people will be cycling or at least be on a cycle or scooter (might be electric) so they need to protect them by having the cycle lane. Be thankful when your kids or grandkids are using them knowing they have a little bit of protect from stupid drivers around here.
