I think his legendary dedication to roles and desire for personal reclusiveness has dramatically helped in keeping him grounded. Pretty much anyone with his level of acclaim and stardom would get sucked into the Hollywood life at the snap of a finger but for the most part he seems to have completely seperated his work and subsequent noterioty from his actual life in the sense that it's purely a craft for him, not a lifestyle. I'd hesitate to call him a 'celebrity' honestly, sure he's incredibly famous but ultimately he's just a regular bloke that's really damn good at acting

I think he's a great actor. But I also feel like when I see him in a movie it's very much Christian Bale. Sometimes he's a wacky version like an American psycho, most of the time he is a serious version like Batman. Like Christopher Walken or Owen Wilson, I always love seeing him, but I always feel like I'm watching Christian Bale acting, rather than seeing the character being. Maybe that's just what happens when you become a superstar. It becomes tougher too embody the character if everyone already knows you.

i agree but only with some actors, like tobey mcguire( unless hes in the movie brothers) but when actors play it hard on their characters is it difficult for me as an audeince member to tell, if they are really the sweet tobey mcguie i know from spiderman or a man filled with ptsd

I did feel like in Ford vs Ferrari I didn’t sense this^ almost forgetting it was Bale. But I totally get what you’re saying, and sometimes I see his movies to see him and not the character he’s embodying, which I’m sure isn’t the goal

This exact thing i have with both Christian Bale but also Robert de Niro and Al Pacino. whenever I watch them on screen, I (often) see the actors and not the characters and its bot because it's their fault i would say. it's just that they are too famous which they can't really do anything about. Even Leo has this problem for me from time to time. to me all of the aforementioned actors are incredibly good but fame has made their mask when in character too thin sometimes. idk maybe it's just me hahah because i still absolutely love seeing them on screen regardless

The last line totally got me surprised, the cadence and intonation fooled me that there were more to be said. I mean the overall video had a monotonous ring to it which i liked but did make me want more. Great video overall!

"Why do we fall, Bruce?" That is the most undervalued, inconspicuous line ever uttered in Cinema. To those who are willing to think that question through, as simple as it may seem, the answer is profound, empowering, uplifting, and equally enlightening.

Ledger did not die because he got too caught up in the joker role. He wasn’t stuck in the role, everyone working with him on the Dark Knight said he was very fun to be around. Ledger died because of his own mental health problems. His death had nothing to do with the Joker and that idea needs to stop being perpetuated, if anything out of respect for Heath Ledger and his struggles.

He’s such an incredible actor. I love the various films he’s made and have been astonished by his many performances, but his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman is my favorite and even to a good extent, the best he’s done. The different personas he plays is truly well done. He nailed the three sides of Bruce Wayne. He nailed Batman amazingly, channeling the kind of anger and pain Bruce would exhume as Batman and intimidated the normal every night criminal very effectively. While people make fun of his voice, it’s smart he’d have to change it considering how Bruce Wayne is well known and people would know his voice, it also works due to the more grounded version of the character he’s playing. Also, they tweaked with his voice in the sequels as Christopher Nolan wanted Batman to sound darker, yet Bale wasn’t able to achieve what he wanted without completely losing his voice. He got the playboy version of Bruce Wayne down where he seems a bit full of himself, to where people see him as too self absorbed to be selfless enough to be Batman as well as being a very good philanthropist while being a billionaire, which also comes into his portrayal as the real Bruce that people like Alfred Fox, Rachel and eventually Blake and Selina see, where he’s able to actually be himself and not have a persona around those he’s close with. Bruce Wayne is a very selfless character in many regards and the fact so few people will ever get to see the real Bruce Wayne kinda makes it special to all those who are close to him. The fact that this one role across three films gave Bale so much to work with and he truly became Bruce Wayne/Batman in that he took it seriously and never made fun of the character, sort of like what Adam West did in the 60s where he was completely sincere in his portrayal of the character, I truly love his performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman. His portrayal of the character is what I wanted to see back in the 90s and early 2000s and I’m glad Bale auditioned and got the part. Of course the writing and direction had a good hand in what Bale did in The Dark Knight Trilogy, but he absolutely knew how to play the character from not just the script and talking to Nolan, but by also reading some comics beforehand in order to understand the character. Not only did he give a hell of a performance in all three films, but he was able to get more opportunities that may not have happened if it wasn’t for Batman. He’s a very well deserved Academy Award Winner, but should have more nominations and wins, and continues to show his versatility in whatever project he takes on. Thank you for the video man, sorry for the long comment, but you did a great job with this video. Keep up the great work and take care!

This is a great video, just going to point out one thing in that the description uses the wrong “affect/effect.” It should be “affected” and not “effected.” I figured I’d point it out because you have way less subs than you should and you make great content, and I’m sure you want to make sure everything is perfectly on point as well!

I absolutely love Christian Bale but my problem with him is that even though technically he's brilliant and you can tell he's put so much effort and preparation in to his role, there's an emotional element that's missing. I don't feel connected with him in any way. I don't care what happens to him. Even though I'm blown away by his performance. In contrast, his contemporary Leonardo DiCaprio also puts a lot of preparation and heart in to his performances . You can see the same passion. But there's a lot of similar mannerisms (finger pointing when yelling, the eyebrows moving in certain way, etc. ) so it's still always him to an extent. However, I always feel connected with his characters and invested emotionally with him and what's going to happen within the story. I love both actors, but I feel so disconnected from Bale because I think he focuses too much on technical greatness.

Whenever I think of Bale, I think of RDJ's character in Tropic Thunder. Especially the scene where he's taking off his costume and "the dudes are emerging". Please someone do a dub of that scene with "I am not... Patrick Bateman... I am not... Trevor Reznik... I am not ... BATMAN" please I beg you

0:45 please stop spreading the idea that Heathe Ledger went insane from playing the Joker. People that worked with him said that he acted completely normal and happy on set between takes, this has been public information for a decade. Playing a comic book clown did not break anyone's sanity. The man had a drug problem.
