The biggest difference with Gnostic Christianity compared to the other streams of Christianity was that they believed the god in the Old Testament is a completely evil being, and that the Father Jesus spoke about was an entirely different God. So they rejected basically all of the Old Testament and prophets like Moses as ignorant.

Oh wow. I gotta look into that. Thank you for your comment 🙏🏾. That's definitely gotta be a future video topic

1) The Bible does actually mention how the Egyptians are descended from Noah: *Genesis 10:1* *Nations Descended from Noah* These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth; children were born to them after the flood. *Genesis 10:6* The descendants of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. 2) Also, contrary to popular opinion, the flood was not global, but only localized to Mesopotamia (modern Iraq). 3) Yes, the Bible does not deny the existence of other gods. The traditional Christian view is that the gods of other religions were beings created by God who rebelled and led humans to worship them instead. 4) The people you are talking about are the Messianic Jews. A later episode will talk about them. 5) The traditional view is that baptism replaced circumcision. Christians being circumcised is a mostly American phenomenon. 6) Actually, no. Gnostics, Ebionites, and Christians had very different fundamental beliefs: Gnostics believed that Jesus was only divine and that his human body was only an illusion, while Ebionites believed that Jesus was only human and that he never resurrected. 7) The Bible explicitly says that Jesus created everything in existence, so he must have always existed. 8) All of these various Churches _are_ indeed currently negotiating reunion with each other, although it will certainly take some time.

Thank you. As you saw, I had a few questions. I appreciate you for clarifying. As you can tell, I'm going through this journey without too much of a map lol. This really was a lot of great information. I hope you're here for the whole series. I have a feeling I will have a lot of questions in the future. Thank you again. I always appreciate your comments.

@@DevonRucker Adding to this good explanation ... in the last Ice Age, the mutual ancestors of Hamites and Semites were living in E Africa, with a common reconstructed) language. At this time the Sahara wasn't a desert, but a giant savannah. When the last Ice Age ended 15,000 years ago, agriculture was invented in various places ... and the Saharah dried out. These pastoralists went all over N Africa, including Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria. There are still a few original African tribes of this group who stayed in E Africa. Some passed over to Asia thru the Sinai (prequel). By less than 6000 years ago, these Eastern African tribes (of the many times in the past million years that Africans have colonized the whole world) had been separated from Egypt long enough to be a distinct tribal group. The Semites made it back to Africa multiple times following their herds.

As a Messianic Jewish fan, this lecture was done very well. He also made a Jewish chart, which was corrected (and reissued as a result of) input from one of OUR rabbis. The regular Jews are wrong on many issues, just like many Christians are (see Islam). The Mandaeans are living followers of John the Baptist, not Gnostics (no Mandaean priest available to correct the chart maker). In the Gospel, Jesus kept his secrets for his immediate disciples, until his resurrection ... he was the first Gnostic. ;-) The rabbinic Jews are followers of rabbi Akiva, who was a Jewish Pharisee who followed a false Jewish messiah in 135 CE, 100 years after Jesus. But Messianic Jews (Jewish and Gentile) are not only serious about the OT, but regard present day Orthodox Jews (rabbinic) as the standard for understanding the OT. Individual congregations follow kosher to varying degree, like 7th Day Adventists. Modern Messianic Jews (of Jewish ancestry) came about in the 19th century, similar to liberal (Reform etc) Judaism, but open to Gentile G-d Fearers, unlike liberal Judaism ... because Jews were liberated from the ghettos, first in the US and soon after in France.

What you are putting down is called ecumenism. Protestants and Catholics are all largely on board with meeting with each other (on religious grounds), while the Eastern Orthodox churches are split on the issue. The theological conservatives in the EO churches are vigorously against ecumenism and the the theological "liberals" in the Eastern Orthodox churches are more open to the idea. both theological conservatives and liberals in Protestantism and the Catholic Church are largely on the same page on this issue: they are OK with ecumenism.

Thank you for this. I learned something new today. I wonder if the conservative Eastern Orthodox will ever be more open to the idea? Thank you again for your comment 🙌🏾

The oldest Churches are the real deal, the Coptic Orthodox Church being the most interesting to me, as well as the various Syriac/Assyrian churches. The Coptic church speaks Egyptian Arabic, but Coptic (ancient Egyptian) liturgically. The Syrian/Assyrian churches speak Aramean dialects (and local Arabic dialects) but Biblical Aramaic liturgically (from 450 CE) which is the original hometown language of Jesus (not Biblical Hebrew). Arabic dialects, Aramaic dialects and Hebrew dialects (not Yiddish or Ladino which are actually Indi-European like English) are all part of the same language family. Ancient Egyptian and Coptic are their own language family. Both of these language families are part of the super-family reconstructed by scholars called Afro-Asiatic (Hamite is an obsolete term).

1. According to the video, the Jewish Christians got extinct... he would later explain groups like Jews for Jesus movement is a revival. There is no direct link between them. 2. With regards to gnostics, yes they believe they were given special knowledge. And it's not about being selfish. Jesus himself, when asked why he spoke in parables said, "Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them". 3. It is usually taught that Arius taught that God created Jesus. I think what we can actually ascertain is that Arius taught that God begat Jesus at a point in time. That is, he did not make Jesus like a potter makes a pot. Rather, the potter begat a son. He was the first born. He was there even before the angels. Here's a video from an actual Arian: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EV7-IAFlzKk.htmlsi=UJcYfR94f6sqIN4V 4. It may be impossible to come up with one unified belief. Each one has its own interpretation. There was division even in the earliest Judaism and earliest Christianity (or Christianities).

You should watch redeemed zoomer's video on heresies that mix christianity with other religions. The problem with heresies is that they are beliefs that are so wrong they mix christianity with different religions. Also the "Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church" has nothing to do with Roman Catholicism, the term catholic, means "universal" and the "One true church" for protestants just means all true christians (who believe in the essentials), while for those who claim to be the one true church it means exactly that.

Jesus is God as God is three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, united in one being. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with god, and the Word was God." Jesus is the Word of God or the Logos.

@@DevonRucker another interpretation, is that the original word used in "was God", simply translated to "was god-like/divine", like an angelic being, one of God's heavenly court that followed his orders.

The Holy Trinity IMHO. G-d the Father is Past. G-d the Son is Present. G-d the Holy Spirit is Future. The Holy Spirit is also what binds the Father and Son together, and what binds Christians to each other and to the Son. But in Eternity, there is no temporal time, so Father/Son/Holy Spirit are inseparable ;-)

Satan did not revolt because he lost his place as right hand. The exact reason is unknown but generally the sin of pride is given as the reason. Satan could not stomach the love shown to humanity which he would consider as substantially less elevated than himself. Hence the hate for us and the need to damn us. It is not God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit rather Father, Son and Holy Spirit all 3 being 1 God. If all 3 are 1 and are God they cannot have a beginning
@DevonRucker

Thank you for the explanation. I really appreciate your comment. In my church growing up, we never really talked about Satan's falls, so outside of things like paradise lost and similar works, this is all a new journey for me.

In Islam, Iblis/Satan was the lead angel, and Allah had told the angels, "worship no one besides me" ... which was fine with Iblis. Then Allah created Adam, "drop of blood" instead of "earthling". Allah next said "worship this creation of mine, Adam ... and me. Satan refused, because he was incapable of sinning against the original commandment. Satan was expelled for disobedience to Allah's second commandment ... because Satan was too obedient ;-)
