Another extremely interesting history lesson and beauty lesson! I did not know he died 10 years after he opened his own fashion house that is so sad. That is a gorgeous dress you are wearing and very figure flattering, along with the cream with black trim Chanel look you had on in a previous video! I also had no idea that Chanel and Dior did not like each other that is so funny. I will have to keep my Chanel make up and Dior make up on opposite sides of my vanity table 😂😂. Thank you for the education and it is well done!

A quick aside: Pierre Cardin (who incidentally was in charge of overseeing Dior's New Look) ended up being the king of licensing. He licensed his name first with his ready-to-wear collection in 1959, but by 1968 was branching out to licensing all kinds of things, from office supplies to cars! At the height of his licensing "career", he had licensed his name to more than 800 products!

Lady in Red. Very good video. In dressing German officer's wives, I'm sure they had no choice but to do so. The Spanish novel "El tiempo entre costuras" was a such a success that it inspired the Spanish series of the same name. The Time in Between is the English title of the book and series . I was able to catch this on torrents before it finally arrived on Netflix US. Briefly, it is about a young Spanish dressmaker that reaches success and she turned spy for the British. In her craft, she would send secret coded messages in her garments. The Time in Between novel and the series did a wonderful job in the mixing the non-fictional back-story and setting with the fictional life of Sira Quiroga. Real-life characters were interwoven with the story. With that said, during her time as the dressmaker running her own business she to found herself having to dress German Officer's wives. There was no getting around it for her. I take it as this real-life aspect for designers of that fashion era was taken into consideration to be part of Sira Quiroga's story too. Thanks a lot for all the info. Very interesting to learn about the "New Look" and the root of it, the so called hourglass. I wonder if that look, still imposed on women today, if it is a mere coincidence or a very subtle "brainwash" on how women should look like, should desire to be and should be desired. I guess I will note that on my future studies on this.

It's amazing how Chanel, a nazi horizontal collaborateur, had the courage to say anything about 'tyrants' or feminists. She was bitter and the worst and it's a mystery to me how she's an icon.
