I really doubt that. Deryvanchenko was very obviously an old fighter in the twilight of his career-- not that he didn't distinguish himself, but he was completely outclassed. He looked hopelessly slow and old. Mbilli couldn't knock him out only because no one has knocked out Sergiy. It wasn't even a contest, and wouldn't have been even if Sergiy hadn't been injured.

Mbilli was never hurt and didn't have a single mark on his face! I would say however that his "cardio management" needs work. He exerts alot of energy, sometimes not when necessary. He needs to learn to properly pace himself.

Well who else is he supposed to fight at this point?? He's not going to fight Benavidez. Morrell is at 175. Mbilli is 28-0 now. He's near the top of the rankings of every sanctioning body and will probably be mandatory in 1-2 of them after this fight. I'm not a fan at all of the Canelo Berlanga fight. However I've known about Mbilli for a long time. He deserves a shot and has earned it. So if he gets the shot and Canelo beats him, are you one of those people who are going to call Mbilli a bum?

@@danthomson3090no wonder he won every round after lol, but he actually lost the 4 round, the round Sergey tore his bicep there was a shift in momentum that sadly went away and if you watched the fight carefully, the last 2 something happened to Sergey right hand too and barely threw it after that. I think Sergey could've been able to do something with his both arms, in one of the later rounds he caught Mbilli with the right and wobbled him but couldn't do much more after that, maybe If he had his both arms he could have knocked him down/out? That's a big if tho.

I hope that down the line, Derevynchenko gets the respect he deserves. A tough SOB who fought everyone in a great era of middleweights. Never ran and always put on a great show. No matter how many times he lost, he was always in the fight, giving as good as he was getting; and despite some decisions not going his way; and seeing the dispointment in his eyes after every L, he still came and always showed grit and determination.

As far as nationalities are concerned, Mbili might fight in Québec but he's still French, and last interview I saw of him, that's exactly what he was saying. Born in Cameroon, naturalized in France and not (yet?) Canadian. I have no clue why there's a Canadian flag or Canada written next to his name every time. Anyway, great fight by him, answering a lot of the questions we had on his ability to handle such a problematic fighter as Derev!

I feel so bad for Derevy. He’s never turned down any fights & always took it in the A sides backyard. Always fought tooth & nail. But always fell a little short. It’s very unfortunate what happened in this fight with his injury. Mbilli is very predictable. He throws everything at one speed & is not hard to find. Derevyenchenko was nothing like the version that faced GGG. He was alot slower to react and definitely looked 38, but still a warrior after eating all those right hands from Mbilli.
