These people speak a completely different language (Western Aramaic) than the ones "Arameans" from the Syriac Orthodox Church speak -- which is Eastern Aramaic, an Akkadian substrate!
Yes, you has right that SURYON (Maluli) and SYRIAC (Turoyo) don´t sounds exactly the same. But both are Western-Aramaic dialects. Modern Aramaic is made up of a number of dialects. The two major ones are Sureth (Eastern) and Turoyo (Western). Sureth is also called Madenkhaya or Swadaya in our Aramaic language. Did you know that the Aramaic language has more than 250 dialects? Unfortunately are the most of them today not spoken anymore... But it´s important to know the difference and that ARAMAIC has nothing to do with AKKADIAN! Did you know that Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic are Western-Semitic languages? And that Akkadian is a Eastern-Semitic language? Please don´t be confused to relate Eastern-Aramaic with the ancient-Akkadian (dead language). I know that there are some people that wants to connect Aramaic with Akkadian for political reasons. Don´t believe people that spread lies for their hidden political agenda.
Yes i agree with you, because ARAMAIC is the language of all nations. Did you know that Aramaic was the mother tongue of Abraham, Jacob, Jesus and Muhammad (Islamic prophet)? Did you know that Israel is currently the only country in the Middle East that has officially recognized the Aramaic language and culture? Why are the Arab countries not doing the same?
@Jury yes, Mohammed spoke Arabic. But Aramaic was his mother tongue. He grew up in the monastary in Bosra (Syria) with the Aramean (Nestorian) monk Bahira.
