Lion of Judah made an inflammatory video accusing the Olympic Opening ceremony of being a deliberate mockery of Christianity. He did not include the fact that the artist director denied there was an intentional link, the apology the committee made to anyone who was offended, or the original footage which shows that they were not at all “recreating” the Last Supper as he states as fact. Throw in some emotional piano music and you have a textbook manipulation from an end-is-nigh persecution-complex-driven Christian RU-vidr. My favourite. more than "not intentionally offending anyone" it was explicitly the Greek god of festivity, Dionysus from a French painting. Lion of Judah doesn't even know what he's angry about.
Hi Emma, French girl here! The secular laws in France just don't allow you to talk about religion IF you're a representative of the government or a public institution, as it could be interpreted that the state, through you, endorses a specific religion If you are a private individual, this doesn't apply to you
No, you are "secularist" because you need to justify your imperialism in the muslim world. I am a communist, and I fight for communism in the name of God.
We actually get freedom. Be it good or bad. The US law focuses on restricting government office not individuals. The Gov shouldnt (florida not withstanding i guess lmao) endorse or move against any religion. Kinda like how we had christan and satanic displays for Christmas at town hall. @jonathon5075
The really "funny" thing about this guy is that the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5) is Jesus. This clown is calling himself, Jesus. If that's not more blasphemous than an opening ceremony, I don't know what is.

This has been my favourite response to the whole thing, from Politico: "Anne Hidalgo is not holding back. When religious and political officials voiced outrage in response to the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, the International Olympic Committee chose diplomacy, apologizing to anyone who may have been offended. Hidalgo, on the other hand, said, “Fuck the reactionaries, fuck this far right, fuck all of those who would like to lock us into a war of all against all,” in an interview with Le Monde published Tuesday, using the expletive in the original English." In America we get Christian politicians literally tell us things like "if we put the 10 commandments in schools non-Christians just don't have to look at them." Can't Christians just follow this same advice?
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
Yeah, but how does that work in art class? You shall not make sculptures, is literally one of the ten commandments. Of course, it's been twisted to make it seem less weird. Religious nuts have ignored the reality of the language, and have done a whole fuckton of mental gymnastics, to try to convince themselves that it just means not to make idols, but that's not what those words, in that order, mean! It LITERALLY means "Don't be making fucking sculptures. Period!"
The image in question at the opening ceremony is a bunch of people in a row. That is the only similarity, and there are figures in the foreground not present in any form in the painting of the last supper. These christiansand invent things to complain and become enraged about.

Given Da Vinci's penchant for blurring lines of gender in his work, and the effeminate nature of his painting of the apostle John, I like to think that the first queer depiction of the Last Supper was The Last Supper. Conservatives hate this interpretation.
I had this same conversation with so many people... Do you know who Dionysus is? blank stare... who? Do you know what ethnocentrism is? blank stare... what? Nevermind.
FB has had lot of memes about this , i have posted this question , Opening ceremony had a blue guy, Poseidon brother of Zeus, what part of Christianity is that ?😀 Opening was about feast of gods and its was not table it was catwalk. Looking at the ceremony picture of the feast of Dionysius as a Christian. It looks nothing like a parody of the last supper. To all Christians, not everything is about us.
It's especially funny because, like... These are clearly westerners. How are you both a westerner, involved in mythology like Christianity, and somehow unable to recognize Dionysus on sight? Like, the instant it's shown, it's just 'oh it's dionysus'.
they should not have apologised to the 'offended' christians but instead should have told them to wipe the biblical muck off their eyes and see the event for what it was, a tribute to ancient pagan greece.
If you're able to repeatedly mock something almighty, chances are it's not almighty at all - or just doesn't give a shit, which would then be an example for faithful believers to follow.

The most entertaining thing about it for me was that the confusion really illustrated how much Christianity actually borrowed from Greek mythology. So much so, that along with a serious persecution complex is why it became a major controversy. It's also why they refuse to accept the actual explanation.
I've heard that this is one of the ways that Christian was so successful (and other movements before it). By incorporating aspects of existing mythos into core beliefs, it makes Christianity easier to accept because it's 'already a part' of that native mythos. This is one theory about why Zeus/Jupiter was so ... frisky; there are hypothesis' that the various women he got frisky with were actually goddesses from other smaller religions and by invoking/creating stories about Zeus getting frisky with them, it gave legitimacy. But you don't even have to go far back. If you look at the 'shape' of Christianity outside of the Catholicism/Protestant core or even within it but outside the most commonly thought of areas, you start to see this kind of mutation. Christianity in Central America for instance or in Japan and China have their own distinct practices.

There is more evidence for the Roman gods and the Norse gods than any middle eastern one. Planets named after them such as Mercury and Venus and days of the week such as Thursday (Thor) and Wednesday (Woden) for example. Christian here. I do not feel mocked by the ceremony. It's someone's vision of unity and fun. Perhaps there is an homage to Leonardo Da Vinci in there. Perhaps it's a coincidence. Many people have done it in other places. I am not offended by those, either. What DOES trouble me is some of my fellow Christians being so quick to anger and their hatred toward other people. It's like they sit and wait for anyone to say something that offends their personal view of their religion. And the people they are hating on are people that Jesus LOVES. There should be no place for hatred in Christianity and yet there is so much. So many Christians persecute other people who don't share their particular view. And they make the religion so unapproachable to people that are not in it. If they truly think they're serving God through hatred and anger, they do need to examine themselves. I know I'm not perfect. I don't know everything. But I know being eaten up with hatred is no way to live. It would be a good day when I don't have to apologize for some of my fellow "Christians" bad behavior.
I didn't even notice the comparison until it was pointed out, so I have to imagine that the outrage probably comes from people being told it was a mockery rather than actually seeing it and thinking so.

@darkshadow9291. That’s because we’ve been living in the end times since 538 AD. A day in the Bible is a year in our time. What’s so special about 538 AD?, well that’s when the 1st Beast of Revelation arrived and came to power. It was prophesied that the 1st Beast of Revelation would rule for 1260 days (Years in our time), then a head wound would happen to the beast after those 1260 years. Which the head wound happened in 1798, but that wound would heal, and it did. And it was also prophesied that during the time of the head wound of the 1st Beast which happened in 1798, a 2nd Beast would arrive around that time period, and the 2nd Beast would be similar to the 1st Beast but different at the same time. Who are those 2 Beasts?, I know who they are, but that’s something for you to find out.
Regarding the agressive secularism - It absolutely started with Christianity and Catholicism specifically. It started 100+ years ago back when the Catholics were the most agressive monarchists and the somewhat unstable Republic wanted to stamp out royalist sentiment.
I just had this conversation with my dad. It was Greek! For the Greek based Olympics! Also not everything is about Christianity. And even if it was parodying The Last Supper- it is a piece of artwork and not an actual or accurate depiction of the last supper or Jesus.
If you read the gospels it is a pretty accurate depiction of jesus, he clearly was blue, that much is evident, and he did descend from the ceiling on a platter, although I do suppose in John the platter was gold so they did change that part, so now I see why they're so upset! (obviously satire)
Well and I'm certain that was something the artist was well aware of. But the fact that they care so much (when it is one of the most parodied works) is bizarre.
Or the judeo-christian religions think the whole of existence revoles around them and swear they are the most victimized groups in the world with each of the 3 claiming to be more victimized than the other 2.

The Olympics is attended by Nations who see themselves as Christians. This lack of awareness and blatant disregard for this cultural iconography specially to France who still have 60% of their population as Christian, Is either really mocking the religion which billions adhere to or the Committee within is incompetent and fetishistic (Religion definition not the sexual one)
@@lettuceman9439 you have clearly never looked into what the feast of Dionysus looked like. The olympics is also attended by nations who see themselves as countless other religions, and just because France is a Christian majority doesn’t mean that they were mocking anything religious- in fact, logically, they would do the opposite if they did anything having to do with Christianity
Honestly, if I was one of the olympics organizers, I wouldn't have apologized. These people are entitled enough without other people giving them what they want.

@@darkSorceror Nude? topless maybe, or we had a censored version in the US. I do remember they interviewed religious leaders from the major religions in an extra on "The Life of Brian" DVD. This is from memory, but I think the Christians and Muslims were offended as expected. A rabbi was offended because the high priests depicted in the movie had the incorrect vestments, maybe he was ultra orthodox. Most surprisingly a Buddhist monk was offended by the negative attitudes of the movie characters in the "Bright Side of Life" routine. I think they were picking their interviews to be sure they got 4 out of 4 on the offensive meter. I know fairly biblical Christians that think "The Life of Brian" is funny since it is "Brian" and not "Christ". They can accept the comedy of someone in that age being consistently and unwillingly mistaken for Christ.

Yup - the demon-possessed track-and-field events were absolutely spectacular! It’s awesome to see these mortal humans become able to preform incredible high jumps and pole vaults before their heads turn 360 degrees and release insane amounts of vomit!
Ya, totally ignoring what was actually going on is pretty disrespectful and then using that ignorance as an excuse to evangelize while claiming you are being attacked is pretty gross. Making an offering to Dionysus as apology...

The more professional end time predictors have stopped naming specific dates a long time ago. The scam stops pretty much immediately once a specific date has come and gone. Just say "soon" and the scam can go on forever.
The narcissism of these people never ceases to amaze me; the world does not revolve around Christianity and the opening ceremony had nothing to do with any religion. 🤨

@Rine.4656. “The world does not revolve around Christianity” 🤦🏻♂ God came down in the flesh as Jesus to SAVE YOU, yet you reject him. Jesus is OUR SAVIOUR. God gave ALL OF US a FREE GIFT of Salvation through FAITH. The Olympics originated in Ancient Pagan Greece, and Paganism is Satanic.
I found the Olympic games deeply inspiring to be honest with you. Especially the breakdancing segment with Ray Gun. That was the first time i looked at one of the games and thought "hey! I could do that!" Which was incredibly inspiring and poignant as i was house and dog sitting for my girlfriend at the time and had consumed 3/4 of a litre bottle of gin when it came on.
Edit: The ego on display by people insisting that their interpretation of scripture is the God given one drives me crazy. Then you have this guy upset about a mechanical horse that he said represents the fourth horseman…. He’s interpreting modern artistry through the lens of his interpretation of his faith & assuming that everyone sees his faith the same way. It’s just so self centered (which, I don’t think is the point of faith.)
What if the Olympics, and the Grammys, and everything else, actually is demonic? Did you watch it? Know anything about Molloch and the Star of Remphan? Numerology? Occultism? It’s all around you.

Wtf?! So throughout all my childhood I feared a supposedly all-powerful and all-knowing being because of a MISTRANSLATION?! Fuck! For a simple little thing like that to royally mess with my mental health for years is just infuriating
Today, is the last day of the rest of lives. A christian told me the evidence is that the Euphrates river has dried up. 1. Nonsense. That river has not dried up. Its depth varies all the time. 2. The christian needs to read the few lines before that line in the Bible. As you can see, those events have not happened.
Right? I saw some supernatural-looking guy surrounded by fruit on a table and thought "oh that's probably Dionysus". But I had a hyperfixation at some point. The fact that people can look at something so mundane disconnected from their lives and immediately assume that it's an attack... Sad is the word for it.
