there is no honor found in MSM as they continue to play their part in the great deception of corporate government. when christy comes clean with the reality of canadas enslavement then perhaps she could be presented as credible. as long as media is towing the party (government) line they are all complicit in the lies and theft that canadians are subjected to daily.
She really should have a fact check the Phoenix Sinclair Inquiry stuff. it's about integrity right. Well not all who stand on integrity are treated the same
@@zahirmurji .... So the Konanee grope didn't take place? 2 years ago during debate in the H of C , he crossed the floor and literally grabbed a female MP's arm and marched her back to her seat in the NDP Caucus. The Princling is an idiot....
@@VitoAnthonyD.-ow7oo What the fuck does that have to do with anything? The only thing Atlantic Canada would do very well to do is separate from the rest of this corruption nation whose government is solely invested in the have not burden that is Quebec.
Vito Anthony D. It’s not Atlantic Canada stupid. Their votes don’t mean much because the population is low. Quebec and Ontario are the ones who decide the outcome of elections.
Thank you Ms. Blatchford. I thoroughly enjoyed your book. I believe it was 16 days . I apologize for not being sure. That was quite a few years ago. I respect you very much as a truth telling journalist. I believe it’s high praise in these times of over funded CBC and other fake news. Please keep up your good work for Canadians.
The frustrating thing is, as much as people hated the campaigning of the Conservatives last election that said Trudeau wasn’t ready, they were right. Canadians should have realized from the get go that someone with almost no political experience or any qualifications at all could not effectively run a country.
So much for the Natural Governing Party. The party that’s entitled to their entitlements. I’ve never in my life seen such condescending and arrogance from a party and a prime minister. They must think we Canadians are stupid. We are tired of the globalist UN agenda political correctness and open borders. Now this happens. There’s no way this can be smoothed over and shoved under the table. October can’t come soon enough.
When the truth about SNC comes to the foreground, we will all be very grateful that JWR did not buckle. The jobs will still go to other Canadian companies who are ethical and operate within the law. Possibly even one outside of Quebec!
The jobs will go to foreign company like Siemens who was caught doing a lot worst than SNC , but benefit from agreement in its country(instead of criminal charges). This allowed Siemens last year to get a contract of 950 millions in Canada. Why would we punish more a Canadian company for the same offence than a foreign conpany ?
I love you Christie, I like your honesty and how you call it the way it is. I really respect your opinion and I listen to you on newstalk 1010. Trudeau is a smug human being and I can't wait for him to be part of history. Keep it up and thank you.
Thank god we still have a few people with some integrity in this country who just want to do the right thing. Just finished Christie Blatchford’s book “Life Sentence”. It’s a great read with the ring of truth of the state of the judicial system and justice in Canada
Research as to where the Quebec Pension is. I heard the money for the QP has been invested into shares of SNC Lavalin. I also heard that Trudeau is also a shareholder of SNC Lavalin.
My belief is that the whole reason for butts resignation is so he would be called to testify instead of Trudeau because he can't answer any questions. Willingly. And if he was forced to in the way the others did it would be the end of him!
Blatchford is pure gold. So smart, so incisive and articulate, she has an uncanny no-BS ability to wade through all the nonsense and cut right to the nugget of truth. I always look forward to her columns.
SNC Lavalin Liberano/Quebec ties more important than rule of law and a respectable AG aboriginal woman. I'm not a liberal voter, but she's one sitting on that side of Parliament who has merit behind her name. God Bless her.
That’s exactly what it comes down to. And I totally agree that there is more corruption going on here than just JWR being lobbied by the PM and his office, though that in itself is highly unethical. She is right, they are wrong - very wrong! I commend Jody for standing up for ethics and the rule of law.
I sure hope Canadians are paying attention to this issue (because it really matters). I have watched and read so many news sources and listened to many perspectives on this issue. Christie Blatchford's comments in this video really hit at the core of the problem. Various perspectives on this matter simply introduce a lot of static noise. A lot of the arguments in favor of what the Libs did don't hold water for me (e.g. using jobs an argument for their actions, trying to convince that there was no undue pressure etc...). If they get past this, unscathed, with no "independent", unbiased judicial inquiry, I will take this to mean that we have a "clear" double standard in our judicial system. One for the very rich, powerful, and connected and one for the rest of us poor souls. If I get in trouble, I sure hope I can call on the PMO. There are just too many factors that indicate a blatant conflict of interest between this govt and SNC Lavalin. I'm very thankful that we have people like Christie BLatchford among others (who have a strong public presence) standing up and speaking out. We can't let this go without the proper due process it deserves (i.e. an independent inquiry not managed and controlled by the Libs). Thank you Christie Blatchford for your input.
Justin and his male co-workers remind me of the quote 'no means harder'!

I believe her (JWR) and I want real justice served against all LIberals who perverted & obstructed justice and gave veiled threats, like the rest of us regular folks would get. Not getting re-elected is only watered-down-wine justice.
I am a Canadian American and have not lived in Canada for more than 20 years now although I do visit friends and family frequently....I have to say that it is an absolute disgrace that Quebec companies like SNC and Bombardier etc etc still recieve this kind of preferential treatment in Ottawa. It is beyond me why Canadians in other provinces don't rise up and demand equal treatment from your Federal government
The leader of a political party is chosen by the members of that party. If the party becomes the leading party in a nation wide vote, the leader of the party then becomes the prime minister of the country. The ministers in the governing party are then chosen by the prime minister and these ministers should be chosen for their specific qualifications. For instance, the attorney general becomes the top legal authority and the decisions she/he takes should be based on the laws of the country . The Prime Minister does not have the authority to interfere with the decisions taken by the ministers in his cabinet unless there is a strong demand from members in all three parties for a review.
I find it interesting that the PMO’s office is laying these ‘3500 jobs’ at JWR’s feet.... seems to me that any job losses should be the responsibility of SNC. They should have considered the repercussions of their criminal actions. And since when is blackmailing the Canadian government with the threat of job losses an acceptable business practice?? Isn’t BLACKMAIL still an offence in this country? Any job losses should be blamed on SNC and SNC alone. Just my $.02. Peace.
If you Loose your Job Or Pension from the Company or Corporation that has Broke the Law. You should Be able to Sue that Company /Corporation for Damages that the criminal actions have affected your life.
Then again, I'm outside this as so many 21st century norms. I would never have legislated against Canadian companies participating in normal overseas business practices as long as I could prosecute them for bribing anyone here. Let foreign countries manage their own commercial laws. Perhaps write our consular laws in such a way as to limit our liability for executives in such cases. Although we already accept the operations of foreign criminal law anyway. That and reasons of state or economy are valid motives for limiting our prosecutions where domestic institutions are not threatened. The rule of law doesn't mean everything is adjudicable by the courts or that our laws should be as extraterritorial as they are.
I have followed Christie for many years and she is one of the best in the business. What an incredible mind she has and she is absolutely accurate with her take on this scandal. I'm with her that JWR is absolutely credible, and I too stand behind her. JT's time is up and I hope Canadians are finally waking up to his endless charades within his party. Calling himself a feminist has been nothing short of a lie. He should be totally embarrassed. Would like to know how the chick that was groped feels now about not coming forward with the entire fiasco there. That would bring a nail to his coffin!
It is so obvious that the SNC-Lavalin case should be handled by a remediation agreement. This ensures that the company is penalized but to the extent possible innocent people suffer as little as possible. It is not political interference to try and see if such an agreement can be made and from the point-of-view of mitigating risk, it is the right thing to do for the good of many. Indeed it is the AG's call and she made it. But it is also the PM's prerogative to get a new AG if he so chooses and the fact that she showed poor judgement on the remediation agreement (e.g.she wouldn't even consider getting an external opinion on the matter) is more than enough justification for replacing her, even though they say that wasn't the reason. As pointed out by Butts, which you conveniently ignore, there was ample time and opportunity for her to raise the issue of "inappropriate" pressure and she didn't. Only when she was "demoted" did she do so and then she has proceeded to impugn people's character and is trying to destroy the government. She objected to having her judgement being questioned and that in itself shows poor judgement. We need adults in positions of leadership not adolescents who act out of spite. Provided SNC-Lavalin meets the criteria, and they probably do, the government should negotiate a remediation agreement and forget this silliness. Christie Blatchford just adds to the noise.
SNC Lavelin and the liberal party which I am sure you are a member of and probably a lawyer to boot is like a piece of shit ; there is no clean end to handle it with.
Well given that your comments only contain childish insults there really isn't anything to respond to. But, some advice, if you want to engage in a discussion on this you need to grow up first.@@roberttucker4196
@surprisedmike before spewing out the exact same script provided by Butts and Trudeau et al... perhaps one should read the actual law regarding Remediation Agreements. SNC does not qualify for one. The court has ruled this to be the case also.
@@elindquist5725 Okay please enlighten me as to why they don't qualify as you have obviously read and understood the law. Also, I do not believe that a court has ruled against the company qualifying. The recent ruling concerned a challenge to the prosecutor charging them without giving them the opportunity to negotiate a remediation agreement. So you are wrong on that part but please spew away on why they don't qualify.
Listen up all greedy corrupt people. If anyone is helping you with this scam, they to are guilty and should also be CHARGED. There should be "NO GET OUT OF JAIL FREE", card for anyone!
I'm also very interested in the "op-ed articles" angle to the story (which media has ignored).... Not only who they could convince to write and publish these, but if and when this has been done before, where it was done, and how much are those outlets receiving in gov't media support. Tell us this NP.
Sure ! ask Jody if she would consider finding a solution if it were 9000 indigenous jobs on the line !! Funny how that can work out !! Didn't she herself say that no laws were broken ?
Does Justin really believe we Canadians are stupid enough to believe, over 10 contacts, was not pressure? . Justin feels that he is royalty. How embarrassing it is to be Canadian today? I think the liberals are toast next election but that scenario is frightening. We need a minority government. At least what govt. does will be agreed upon to a certain extent. Less harm will be done.
Canadian women need to rise up and vote in October! Saying you're a feminist doesn't make you one. I want a PM who hires on merit and not based on gender, identity and ethnicity. Get out and vote.
Jody Wilson-Raybould as Attorney-General approved the prosecution of Admiral Mark Norman - it was commenced under her. The proceedings against him have been underway for more than a year. A decision to prosecute a high-ranking serving RCN officer (in fact the most senior) can only have come from the A-G's office. The pressure to prosecute so would have been from people in the Liberal Government, who were unhappy at the Admiral's way in which he obtained fast conversion of an urgently-needed supply vessel (the former freighter 'Asterix' ). The work had been approved by the Harper Government and the shipyard had staffed up to start, but no contract had been signed and right after the 2015 Election some Liberals wanted to go back on it. How long before Ms Wilson-Raybould's role in bringing the prosecution against Admiral Norman comes under scrutiny? There could be an interesting twist to the current story and JW-R may not look so good if (as there is good reason to expect) the Admiral's lawyer Marie Henein obtains a dismissal of the charge against him on the ground that it is an abuse of process. Christie Blatchford and the National Post might think of that before laying on the flattery of Jody Wilson-Raybould. Journalists are not supposed to have tunnel vision, but Ms Blatchford seems to.
Yes and liberals are supposed to see beyond Quebec and treat them the same as the rest of the country but that never happens. Same old shit different pile.
@@roberttucker4196 The RCN had agreed in 2015 the urgent conversion of the freighter 'Asterix' into a navy supply ship, as two supply ships had been withdrawn as unseaworthy and a new class of ships would not be ready until 2021. This was approved by the DND under the Harper Government, and the Levis shipyard on the St Lawrence had ordered equipment and taken on staff for the work. However no final contract had been signed at the time of the October 2015 General Election. After the Liberals won, there was lobbying within the new Government structure to have the conversion contract switched to another yard; so there was a 'hold' placed on the signing. People in the Navy suspected that the contract would not be signed and they would get no supply ship at all, rending the RCN incapable of any serious operations. There was a leak to the press about this, from within the RCN one assumes. After a short media storm the new Trudeau government hastily reversed course and agreed that the Navy could sign the contract. The Levis shipyard completed the work efficiently and the 'Asterix' is now in service in the Pacific. So it was not Liberal favouritism to Quebec that has ended up with the Admiral Norman case but, if anything, rather the reverse - the Conservatives had agreed to the work going to a Quebec yard and the incoming Liberals attempted to undermine it.
Trudeau wasn't wrong when answering journalists during the press conference. He just provided nice sounding, politically correct non-answers like a defective robot. You can't be wrong if you don't answer.
Canadians are so scared of the PM!!!! He can do to them and that country Whatever he wants! And he has and is and will. And there is Nothing the common people of Trudeaus Canada can do about it. And thats the Truth. Get use to it!
Christie Blatchford I have always listened to you religiously on CFRB 1010 and have been on your side, and I also voted for conservatives the last election. But I think you are wrong this time.
@joe lukasik I lived in Toronto for years, They are way more low IQ people there than smart ones, They elected Liberals for decades and they gave majority to Kathleen Lesbian right in middle of gas plant scandal which cost them over billion dollars, and dont underestimate the power of CBC, it is not Canadian people decide the future of politics in Canada, CBC do the thinking for Canadians. And Quebecers are free loader racist French supremacist, I dont think you would disagree with that.
Scheer is Trump North, God help us all if he gets in. Wilson and Phillpott are so busy trying to get even( in their mind) Hope they don’t get any support!!
Really?.......end of story......I think not....our justice system is under siege, has been for years! We can do better with better people in office that can maybe use their brain!
There is so much ill-informed commentary on the SNC- Lavalin affair. As this issue basically is about the Rule of Law I recommend people listen to the lawyers rather than the partisan politicians. I am following CPAC and I suggest watching the following two RU-vid videos at minimum: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SyWuflGwG8c.html (in particular the last 35 seconds) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vNCZnVu7Zp4.html I believe these two principled women over the crooks in the PMO who "must interfere" and "can arrange op-eds", never mind Wernick (who should resign because of blatant partisanship). This is NOT like the groping allegation - the law is the law is the law. Funny how "women must be believed" EXCEPT when it is Justin Trudeau being accused of wrongdoing (hypocrite!) If the Liberals do not let JWR return to testify AND ungag her then obviously they cannot face the truth (HER truth).
