I think the problem with the Caitlin style of basketball for Sides is that Caitlin has too much power and control over the decisions. She wants that control. Hence her getting so furious last game with Clark when Clark was balling out. It’s wild! Her ego must be enormous and also skin deep. This team needs to just get anyone coaching men’s bb and they will be unbeatable for years.

Sides in every game appears progressively worse than what we thought in the previous game where she was worse than what we thought. I think Sides just needs to figure out that she is better at stopping her team than opposing coaches.

What happened to Caitlin Clark the NCAA all-time leading scorer ? If she's not shooting well on the Fever it's probably a psychological situation due to her conflicts with Sides. When you watch video of her college days, you can tell she's happy, comfortable, and confident in her role, and that resulted in her being in "the zone" when shooting 3's.

I knew I saw a distinct change of pace in the first three quarters and wondered what the hell was going on. I'm getting really sick of Sides.

My biggest beef with coaches is a lack of flexibility and adaptability and to not play to their players strengths. Why draft someone and then try to change them fundamentally ...Make it make sense!

Chrusty Sides didn't want Caitlin to have a big game against the team USA coach. she played slow so that caitlin will be out of flow and get frustrated so she won't have big numbers. She was never in rhythm for the first 3 Qr.

How did you miss this? Caitlin: She also became the fastest guard in WNBA history to record 20 career blocks as she gathered three stuffs in the matchup. Those blocks also make her the league's only rookie with 20 steals and 20 blocks this season.

A truly incompetent person does not know they are incompetent. They think they are doing a great job. In this case you have multiple levels of incompetence from Herb Simon down. From a business standpoint point the Fever is just a tax write off for Simon. He has no desire to make them better or profitable. The WNBA won’t make him sell because he also owns the NBA Pacers. So IMO the only option for players is to leave as soon as contractually possible.

Lexi Hall gets zero respect from the officials. These fouls they call on her are bogus. She is the Wnba version of Michael Cooper.. Long, lean, and super fast. She may be the fastest person in the league in a straight line. Lol

Coach Bluder is retired from Iowa and is available to take over for Sides and Dunn.

I think you have said this before but either way it’s true. Basketball has evolved. Sides and Lynn could not coach a middle school team with a top talent kid on it.

I think she tries really hard to gameplan for each team. I think she thought "Boston has the advantage this game so let's go inside." It's like she can't believe that they need to play their own style and impose her team's will. Make other teams adjust to you. Don't adjust to them!

I think you got it right. CC is clearly the best floor captain out there. Imagine what this team could do if they had an owner who paid attention, a competent GM, and a real coach. Dunn, Sides, and Wheeler all must go.

It's so sad that this team is saddled with this deadweight coach, and even sadder that there doesn't appear to be a way out. It's unimaginable that they will do this all over again next year with Sides, but realistically, this is the most likely outcome unless CC and AB decide to step up and directly challenge authority and refuse to go along unless the team makes changes and commits to excellence.

Ervin Johnson suggested Clark get some mentorship from Bird becuase he's an Indiana legend. I think she should go to Magic because their style of play is just as similar.

The coach is the only one not adopted to C.C. playing style. Wheeler is such a nuisance in their offence and that is because the coach is letting her play garbage.

It wasn't the zone that slowed them down, it was the lack of adjustment to the zone. The perimeter passing Wheeler offense played right into their hands.

If you want to slow down because the rest of the squad can't maintain that pace, perhaps you should start fast and make substitutions earlier. Grace Berger sitting on the bench the entire month is disgraceful(pun intended). Dantas can handle more minutes.

The Fever coach and office should have been studying "Iowa style basketball" from before the draft and applied it immediately, with CC running the offense style from the very beginning....and stuck with it, as it is much more entertaining and a winning style over the stumble/bumble pushing/shoveling jail-house style of the past W decades that alienates fans.

The thing that impresses me the most in CC's game is her passing, she makes some amazing passes, and her vision. Her teammates have adjusted to her well compared to the beginning of the season. There are areas where CC needs to work on in the offseason. I will say im amazed how she gets lost on D sometimes, but really the whole team has D issues. I assume they ran zone D in Iowa? So as great as she is, she has so much room for improvement, and theres no question that she is a hard worker and will get it done. Also great job understanding basketball, most channels are just going along with the drama, big props to you :)

ESPN was insane to put McNutty on the broadcast crew. I just turned off the volume and watched the game in silent peace. I did turn it up for the last few minutes to listen to her whine and there was one bitter comment that she gave that occurred during one of Clark's free throws. She bitterly said, "And this crowd goes crazy about a made free throw." Sour grapes, McNutty!! Get rid of her and rest of the ESPN clowns. They are horrible and just make the network more and more unpopular.

She arrives at the game with a plan that is old school. Then when things go wrong, she can't adjust or create a play. Have you considered that her GM is actually making the game plan and Sides has no clue what to do during the game? What do you think about the slowdown halfcourt offense, trying hard to find a positive, as a building block for slug-it-out playoff games? If Fever runs into an opponent that can run with them, and defends the transition game well? LV Aces, for example. Having another "plausible" way to play, aside from the CC22/Iowa playfast offense. Sides sucks, but she/the team are making microscopic improvements in spite of Sides. Boston, Katie Lou, and even Mitchell, had some really nice assists this game. I'm sure it's the CC22 influence and players buying in, much more than anything Sides is doing. Agreed that the CC22/Iowa playfast system is nearly unguardable.

Sir, I don't understand how you say Sides doesn't know any better. She blew a lead of 20+ points in the last game because of the way she chose to coach. Her team continues to not play well in the way that she coaches. Honestly, I think she knows EXACTLY what she is doing. You can't keep thinking she is that ignorant. How can she NOT know? You have to have the IQ of a vegetable to not know that what you have been doing is not working. And for BOTH Dunn and Sides to be running this and not being willing to change, THERE IS NO WAY that they don't know what they are doing. There is something behind their incompetence to the point where you cannot just call this ignorance.

Fans need to understand that Caitlin does not beat teams by herself. She is devastating because she creates easy opportunities for her teammates.

It’s Sides comfort zone as a coach, feed the post on the block, inside outside spot up perimeter shots. Her team plays better uptempo and, yes, rhythm 3’s, even Donta’s playing the 5, she could trail and be available at the top of the key. Her team can play uptempo, downhill with Clark on the ball, Hull, Samuelson, AB, Smith, Mitchell have all adapted and getting better filling lanes. The option is always there to put the brakes on when you don’t have a good look and run the half court offense. She wants to stay stuck in the system she knows. I agree with you completely, the only thing you might have to do is settle Clark down occasionally if her passes get a little wild. It’s not always all or nothing, Clark naturally does that as she is letting options develop, they could be so good, I noticed today that the team wasn’t running the floor until they needed to win the game.

Sides and Dunn clearly didn’t want CC and are trying to force her to be something she is not. They don’t wanna play a modern system they want dinosaur ball. I have seen coaches in the NFL RUIN quarterbacks because they ask them to do things they can do because it makes the coach comfortable. That’s the definition of bad coaching. That’s Sides and GM Dunn. Ask your players to play away from their strengths because you can’t coach their strengths. So they do things they aren’t good at because it makes the coach comfortable. Also Sides and Dunn wanna make their signings look good - play in a way to maximize the moves they made. I seen this in sports. They draft someone who clearly sucks but they keep playing them cause they don’t wanna look bad and admit they missed. When other Coaches readily admit that the 0afst pace Caitlin is creating is a real problem for them we have her own Coach(?) wanting her to slow down. Sides is coaching as if she's coaching grade school girls. High school girls play faster than Sides wants to play. I thought Sides was older than she is. She's only 47 but looks like she's 60+. She supposed had a really good high-school career as a scorer but she must have forgotten how to play the game with all her attempts at slowing down the game. Caitlin is young and has the physical ability to play the entire game at pretty much full speed. I'm not trying to degrade women but half the women in the WNBA are slower than high school girls. When you have players who can run, you run. Look at the Warriors. They push as much as they can, especially against teams with tall, slow players on them to take advantage of them. I guess Sides never got the manual on playing real basketball instead of basketball from the 40's and 50's where girls could only play on one side of the court and could only dribble a couple times before passing. This was done because the stupid men coaches didn't think girls/women were capable of doing much of anything other than keeping house. Women can play basketball, they can run and shoot just like me so Sides needs to get with the program and understand that this is the 21st Century not the 1990's.

CC's game is exactly the kind of game that will always dominate against female players... RUN RUN RUN PUSH THE PACE ALWAYS!!! This style of play negates tall slow players like Reece, Cardosa, etc., and keeps the defense on it's heels. CC's always looking to push and has the court vision and passing skills to torch any group of women anytime, anywhere! All CC needs is teammates who can run and actually catch her passes. Boston has figured it out. Mitchell is getting there... but some of these girls just can't seem to catch a pass. When they all figure out how to, the Fever will shine through!

People laughed at James Harden when he said he was the system. He was absolutely telling the truth. Every great passer in basketball is a system unto themselves. A coach either has to build around that or already have a set that compliments that type of player. Otherwise you are wasting talent. If an organization is unwilling to do so then they should strongly consider getting as much as they can for that player in trade. Given that Sides desperately wants to run her half court slower offense she needs to coordinate her rotations to accommodate that. Run and gun with CC and Boston. Swap both out for Wheeler and Dantas when you need to rest your runners. Never have them on at the same time.

I will say this again. Sides strikes me as someone who has a belief in a certain type of basketball play like a religious zealot with a faith belief. She WANTS that belief to be true and will twist up facts to try and support that narrative and the type of ball that CC plays stands in firm opposition to the style of play Sides *believes* in. She wants the players to conform to playing that style of ball regardless of what their actual talents and strengths lend themselves to and THAT is what is screwing everything up, that is why she keeps making the weird choices she does. Because she doesn't see the reality of the people or the game before her, what she see's is this idealized version of basketball and an idealized team that executes the way she wants in order to realize and prove her belief... This is true of her AND a lot of the WNBA established leadership. They have a belief in a particular style of ball as being morally superior and they will ignore results and facts to try and maintain that assertion. They aren't interested in results they're interested in maintaining the "purity of their game". They aren't interested in advancing the game or the league but in the sanctity of their little religion and their positions as the clergy of it. They would rather "Loose the right way" than acknowledge what actually works.

Sides is the perfect girls HS coach for a suburban school in Wisconsin. Hire the best teacher available and the team should only play as fast as the coach’s mind can comprehend and control. I recommend the Waukesha school district.

In some ways Sides may be right. Because, Clark knows how to play fast. But not every game is going to be at a fast pace. Especially in the playoffs, the tempo of the game will slow down and Clark has to boost her weaknesses as well as her strengths. When possible, play fast. But if the game is slower, Clark has to be able to be effective in half-court offense as well as transition and quicker run or run and gun type of offenses. Christie makes. a lot of poor in-game adjustments and calls but she's not fundamentally wrong that sometimes Clark should shoot 2s as well as develop the ability to play well in a half-court, slowed down offense.
