@@ts1192 yes but in terms of writing it made no sense. Katherine and Sebastian were seemingly loaded and money was not an issue. For Katherine to be scabbing off people would somewhat diminish the character. She was supposed to be a rich, spoilt vindictive ice queen, her conning people for financial gain would have cheapened her.
It was revealed later that Mrs. Caldwell sent a letter to Annette which provided her both personal information and a warning about Sebastian. The only thing Ms. Caldwell knew about Sebastian was that he did something bad to the school nurse. It is obvious that someone approached Mrs. Caldwell and told her to provide such personal information and warning to Annette about Sebastian. It was not Kathryn who approached Mrs. Caldwell or Mrs. Caldwell would not have told Kathryn her disbelief that Sebastian was not expelled for what he did to the school nurse. Kathryn must have sent a confidant to approach Mrs. Caldwell to strongly suggest to Annette to keep her distance from Sebastian. It must be noted that Mrs. Caldwell had only met Annette at orientation and that one-time meeting would not motivate Mrs. Caldwell to warn Annette about Sebastian in such a confidential manner. It is obvious someone motivated Mrs. Caldwell to write that highly discreet letter to Annette. Kathryn knew that Annette would be staying at Sebastian's aunt in the country. After all, she was student body president and Annette was the new headmaster's daughter. While she feigned ignorance about this to Sebastian, it again must be noted that at the very end she feigned ignorance to Annette in the bathroom scene. This is part and parcel of Kathryn's manipulative, duplicitous, and deceitful nature. Kathryn suspected that Sebastian would try to attempt to conquer Annette by taking her to bed. After all, Annette's "Virgin Manifesto" had received much publicity as it was published in Seventeen Magazine. She realized that Sebastian would see her as his most challenging conquest yet and that is why she set him up to make a bet with her. He did not realize at that time that Annette had been warned about his lascivious nature. Of course Kathryn did as she had Annette warned. Kathryn really thought because of that warning that she would win the bet easily and get her rewards (Sebastian's Roadster). Sebastian told Kathryn that she had "moron friends" who could "bed" Cecille Caldwell so it is apparent she had a "moron friend" who could have Mrs. Caldwell warn Annette about Sebastian's lascivious nature. Of course Sebastian only became interested in Mrs. Caldwell's daughter after he found out it was Mrs. Caldwell who had written that letter to Annette. Kathryn figured out that if Sebastian would not help her out by sexualizing Cecille initially, she would find another way in order to get her step-brother to help her. Kathryn obviously could not reveal to Sebastian that she was the person who planned to have Annette informed of his lascivious nature. She must have "bribed" Blaine Tuttle to have Sebastian come to his place. She already knew that the football star, Greg, was gay and was a "sleeping buddy" of Blaine's. Kathryn also knew that Greg was from the same city as Annette so naturally Sebastian would suspect him of disparaging him to Annette as she and Greg were close friends. Kathryn must have had Blaine set up Greg to Sebastian so that blackmailed Greg could find out from Annette that it was Mrs. Caldwell who informed her about Sebastian. It was Kathryn all along. Once Sebastian knew it was Mrs. Caldwell who disparaged him to Annette, Kathryn knew that her step-brother would be totally dedicated into "destroying" Mrs. Caldwell's daughter Cecille. As Kathryn would later state, Sebastian was a little toy she liked to play with.
If Kathryn's stated plan was to get revenge on her ex, Court Reynolds, for leaving her for Cecille, then why did she not tell her ex that Cecille was secretly in love with Ronald? Court would have broken up with Cecille because of that. Kathryn lied to Sebastian about her real plan. She never wanted to get revenge on Court Reynolds for leaving her because she never cared about Court one way or the other. She instead wanted to totally ruin Cecille since she was the "innocent little twit" that Court left her for. Kathryn hated the fact that any girl, especially a girl who is not amoral as her, could "best" her. Kathryn was very competitive and possessive in that manner and she would destroy any person who gained what she either had or what she would never have. Kathryn wanted to destroy Cecille because her boyfriend thought Cecille was the better of the two. In the end, she wanted to destroy her own step-brother as well as Annette for the same reasons. Annette replaced Sebastian's perverse love for Kathryn with his genuine love for Annette. Kathryn had to destroy Annette for that and she would do that by publicly stating that Annette was no longer a virgin. Kathryn would destroy her step-brother for allowing himself to be the giver and recipient of true love. How dare he best her and the perverse love they had for each other by finding true love elsewhere? Just like Cecille, how dare he be the object of someone else's true love? Kathryn is the Black Widow. If anyone one-ups her, that person has had it. The three people (Cecille, Sebastian, Annette) who did just that would pay severely. If Sebastian had not been killed, she would have the police investigate his altercation with Ronald. Once the police found out that altercation was over Sebastian having sexual activity with Cecille, Kathryn would invite the police to the Valmont household to review the video footage that she secretly recorded of Sebastian's sexual acts with Cecille. She would have the police comb for fingerprints of Sebastian's camera, the camera that was used by Sebastian to take racy photos of Cecille. Because Sebastian's bedroom would have to be declared a crime scene and Sebastian would have to be declared a suspect, he would be barred from entering the Valmont Household. I truly believe that Kathryn had planned to kick her step-brother kicked out and have him legally punished for his illegal lewd sexual acts. After all he was 17 and his acts with Cecille was the first time he has ever committed statutory rape. What he did to 18 year old Marcy Greenbaum is the same as what he did to 14 year old Cecille. However because of the age of Cecille, Sebastian's act is a violation of the law. It must be noted that Sebastian gave Cecille alcohol, which legally could be interpreted as "Contribution Of A Delinquency Of A Minor". Kathryn had him "by the gonads" and if he had not been killed, Kathryn would have made him pay. Sebastian thought that Kathryn would never squeal on him but she would do just that since he turned his back on her perverse love. If Edward Valmont objected to Kathryn's power play against his son, Kathryn could blackmail him as well. She may be only a high school senior but she knows of her stepdad's illegal activities. I really feel that she and her step-dad had a decent relationship and would work together so that his son is not punished but rather is forced to instead leave the Valmont Household and its Empire for good. They both jointly will tell Sebastian he can live with his mother or with Annette's family.
