After a very dramatic night, we settle down to make this year's Christmas Stockings for everyone in the chateau!
It's that time of year again - CHRISTMAS AT THE CHATEAU has begun! Happy Advent!
Here is the twentieth video in our daily Advent Calendar series. Each day will bring a different surprise - but you can expect a mixture of exuberant decorations, seasonal florals, delicious food, gift ideas, musical treats and even a little Christmas carpentry...

They are available at €5 per image, or €10 for five colours.
I had hoped to have the papers printed in order to sell them ready-made, but with all of the Covid postal delays that's proved impossible. I had mine printed by Zazzle, and scaled the pattern up online so that I have both regular and large scale versions here for Christmas. You're all welcome to do the same in order to have large rolls made, or to simply print them on your home printers for very small parcels! But please only use them for private (not commercial) use.

The stick with the gold characters from the calligraphy set is an ink stone. You put a tiny bit of water in the flat pan and rub the stone in it to create ink. The red ink in the ceramic/porcelain dish is for the stamp.

You can tell the true measure of a person when things aren’t going well. Stephanie: spends night in the emergency room with an infection, home to the Chateau where the boiler is down, goes downstairs to fix the boiler, goes back upstairs to make all the stockings for her friends. Philip: spends the night in the cold car outside the hospital, stops by for groceries on the way home, helps Stephanie with the stockings and videoing. You are both beyond amazing😄 Praying for Stephanie to feel better soon and Cat to get home safely🙏

Hi Stephanie! Your Father’s artwork is so amazing and to turn it into wrapping paper and tissue is brilliant. Have you ever considered selling them? I really think they would sell. They are unique and beautiful and I’m kind of a present snob. I am always looking for unique, pretty papers and ribbons to make gifts extra special! Also, I know your Dad’s art is special to you, but have you ever thought of selling prints of his work? I just think people would enjoy your Dad’s artwork. Do you know what the schedule should be? I've heard that you take the probiotics two hours away from the Antibiotics. OR that you start taking the probiotics when you've completely finished the round of antibiotics. It's maddening all this varied advice and who is the expert to follow?

So glad that you are on the mend, Stephanie. It must have been frightening. You couldn't have helped wondering if the illness was IT, even it the symptoms were different. I hope that you can persuade Cat to send a weekly 'Report from Cat' to be included in one episode each week. Especially given the current situation which may delay her return. Miss her to pieces! Lovely presents! Maybe I am superficial, but if I had received those presents, I would have been as excited about the box the present was in, as with the present itself! Thank you for the video!

Stephanie, watching you talk about your father and seeing that you miss him so... I’ve wanted to let you know that I was taught by a wise elderly friend that in nature and in people as a general rule, daughters take the traits of their fathers and sons the traits of their mothers. I feel quite sure in personality you are very much like your father, so in one more way you always have him with you. No doubt he was very proud of his girl and would be so happy seeing you shine your light all over the world. Merry Christmas to you and all the loved ones surrounding you, near and far 💖

You are not alone Stephanie, same thing happened to me on the same day. Maybe worse. Hemmorhagic cystitis for God's sake and no hospital to go to. All hospitals here are full of covid patients and we are instructed to not go and risk getting infected unless we are dying or in need of emergency surgery. Had to walk half an hour to go to a doctor, get an antibiotics prescription, walk another half hour to an on duty pharmacy, then walk another 30 mins home. Sigh! Both of us will be all right, so let's be thankful for that.
