Trader Joe’s sells individually wrapped wood spoons with lump of chocolate and marshmallows for under $1. They go well with a mug and maybe hot chocolate.
I have given my coworkers matching, Christmas designed paper plates, dessert plates, napkins, and cups stacked in a clear cellophane gift bag tied with a bow. The love it because it is useful. I enjoyed your ideas.
Hi Granny, great video for gift ideas. 😊 Hope you and Gizmo 🐶 are doing well. Was in Marshall's store today in California, they had nice coffee mugs for $4.99 Xmas. Etc and lots of things to put inside. Had cookies, candy. etc. to add. I am lucky, only buy a small gift for my husband. Good idea to shop at the Dollar Tree. All the good stuff at our cheaper stores disappears fast in a couple of days. We had a fabulous 99-Cent store but has gone bankrupt not long ago. Big Lots also gone bankrupt. Thanks for all the videos you do.❤ Hope your humidity gets better! Take care, best wishes -- Mary. CALIFORNIA. 😊
I am way ahead of you on giving gifts that are cheap and also useful. For some of our family members I spend more on than those I hardly see all year and may not get together with. Last Christmas for my niece who is a single Mom of 2 girls I took a small tote box and filled it with some of their favorite things: a new DVD movie they wanted, microwave popcorn, cocoa packs, mini marshmallows, 3 matching mugs, and useful things were softsoap, new toothbrushes, tooth pastes, and some new hair brushes. For another family of 5 I did the same thing but included more items because they were a larger family. I do blessing boxes all year now and give them to friends and family in need.
Great ideas Granny, once I received for Mother’s Day my sister gave a bucket with Sponges, brushes, lestoil, Clorox, detergents, dish soap etc, I was so happy because I needed it. I rather accept Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash, that fashion jewelry that I’m not going to use.
I really like that your ideas are under $5, you don't have to spend a lot to let someone know that you are thinking of them at the holidays or as a hostess gift.
Thank you so much for some great ideas. Love the budget friendly concept too and pretty ideas too. God bless you for sharing your creativity. Love from Ky.
It’s great to plan ahead for gifts and your ideas are very cute. Love the idea of putting together a brownie mix, and all the recipient has to do is add the egg and water and possibly oil. Much healthier than box mixes! ❤-Brenda
Terrific ideas. When I still worked at daycare, I would get boxes from dollar tree that Keurig cups fit into perfectly. Then I would put a variety of the k-cups in the boxes for my coworkers. Not only was it a good present, but it also allowed them to try different flavors they may not have had before. With the carry container, a college student could use it later for all the things they would take to go to the shower.
It was twenty years ago when I discovered the joy of gift cards when volunteering at a hospice thrift store the week after Christmas when we got so many donations of NEW Christmas gifts recipients didn't want, need. or like. Hundreds of mugs, bath items like soaps, lotions and bath salts, novelty clothing items, candles, candy and other food items. My co-volunteers noted that many people have specific tastes, certain home styles, allergies, and getting something one cannot use is like throwing away good money. Wonder how many people will admit to donating items they got as a gift.
I love your gift ideas, Granny!!! You have some great ideas. Very creative and affordable. I'm love to receive any one of those gifts. The socks/candy idea is awesome. Tfs
Gift cards Used to be a good idea... These days the possible problems that can arise with gift cards have increased. Scams/fraud, store closures, mandatory e-cards when you buy a physical card...
I love seeing what you found at Dollar Tree and how you might use them for gifts. Great ideas! I especially love the spice jar idea! Had no idea that DT had those.
Anyone may answer please!!!❤ I have a step daughter, 59 years old, that thinks she should receive money every year on her Birthday and Christmas. My 4 kids, 36 to 45 years old, likes for the family to get together and have lunch or evening supper together, no gifts. My husband has 2 Grandchildren in their late 20's with 2 young children each. I have 9 Grandchildren ages 8 to 19. Plus counting for 5 Spouses. Money gets tight buying for Birthdays and Christmas. So, what do yall think my husband and I should do? What is the cut off age for adults? WE are both retired and I've had cancer and my husband now has cancer!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I have 15 nieces and nephews that adults and working . Some have kids so I usually feed the grown up a nice holiday meals and do gift exchanges we pick names out of the box set gift amount to spend on your person is $25 to $50 nothing over. It allows everyone to get a gift and the kids I make them things with cute holiday boxes with cute lil goodies
Your family should know your situation now. Let the adults know that you will not participate in exchanging gifts this year. The children can get a small money gift. No is a complete sentence and a statement. Do not let her bully you into spending money you don't have. Let this be your first year of saying no. If you say it enough, they will come around. Good luck.
My mom would give until grandchildren had graduated and then it stopped; also thought it was a great idea where all names were out in a hat (grown ups) whomever you picked you would write a personal message to that person; no other gifts; and when having a get together each family would bring a food to share; it was centered on being together without the commercialism; now more then ever we need to be thankful that we have someone to be with🫶🤗
@tonithomas6143 thank you for your response, I really do appreciate it. Last year I told her, not to buy anything for us because I could not leave my husband, Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. He lost 70lbs in 5 months, all she could say was why are you losing weight? He told her it wasn't on purpose. When I told her not to spend her money on us, but her daughter, niece and their kids and Spouses! Made her mad, so she gave me a used purse! My husband said she doesn't need anymore, she has plenty, which I do. No tags on it!! She gave her Dad 6 gifts, new, which was fine, but we told her earlier, don't buy for us. All we had time for was to give the adults was gift cards to a nice Mexican Resturant and Walmart $50 each. My husband almost died in January, is still doing chemo, radiation, and scans every 6 months. Really didn't think he would be here for 2024 Christmas, especially when you're given instructions to get things together for ending of life. 2025 Christmas God willing He will be here, but doesn't look like it, only few more months. His daughter has seen him 2 times only since last Christmas and lives 4 miles away. My kids 1-2 times a month and live an hour to 4 hours away. Sorry for being so long, I apologize. Am I in the wrong? I want to be nice, but I have to stand on my own.
@FAITH5879 this is so very sweet! My heart goes out to you all for making these wonderful gifts. What could be better than knowing they put their hearts into this and having fun. Means so much more!! Thank you for all your great advice!! ❤️🙏❤️🙏
