We're in the darkest times of winter here in the mountains of Norway. And while the temperatures are getting more and more freezing we are preparing for our first Christmas market. I believe there isn't a better place to be during Christmas than Røros and it was quite an experience for us to be "out in the world" with our products for the first time. So, I hope you'll enjoy coming along with us a bit and soak up all of this Christmas magic. Sending much love, and merry Christmas!

This was a lovely post. Here is a tip for you for late February (Rørosmartnan). It may be short notice, but people from the valley of "Gudbrandsdalen" and "Østerdalen") will take the 200 km journey to Røros pulled by horses for it - taking multiple days just how it always was (walking cattle or whatever for trade). Imagine documenting this "congregation" of old happening of trade every winter from ancient times to this day in a district that is almost singular on the planet doing "winter mountain farming" for livestock ("Vinterlego" in Norwegian) - a cultural behaviour that only can be found in mountainous areas of South America for comparison. There is something epic about experiencing these old patterns of trade that included not only "I can sell a cow at the market" but also "I can weave the most beautiful carpet".

There were years in Montana that we would hit -15 to -25 Fahrenheit (-26 to -31 c) along with the windchill as the wind is always blowing in the plains areas. We would also get arctic cold blasts that come down from Canada. One of the reasons I left Montana when I joined the US Navy (to travel to warmer climates!) While I don't miss the cold, I do miss the snow and have finally come to time in my life where, if I could have a cabin with a wood stove and plenty of firewood and no reason to leave, I would go back. The night time lit of winter views of the village remind me of Thomas Kinkade paintings!

Leena, your amazing videos bring joy to the world! THANKS! We also have -30 Celcius here in Quebec (Canada) ;-) In our outdoor Christmas markets (which span several days) our artisans use portable heaters to survive the cold. Even though your beautiful kiosk/stand was on the other side of the Atlantic for me - and it was therefore impossible for me to visit it 😢 - I still bought a mug and two tealight holders from you in the past via your website. I love them very much and I hope to acquire more in the future! A very happy holiday season to you both, to your families and to your two adorable dogs 🙂

My ancestors are from norway, So what you have shown Us, Has a special place in my heart. The magical scenery of the outdoors. This is such a beautiful video. I miss the CHristmas markets in Europe. We have one here in Fredericksburg TX, that is very nice, like the ones in GE. We have a big German community in that area. Beautiful video. The trouble with Norway is, when you visit, you never want to leave. I first visited years ago and spent a lot of time there training with the military, but then I discovered some of the national parks in the north. Bravoo it looks Amazingly beautiful 🎄and so glad that you presented your illustrations and that the right people came and bought it. Just an idea to keep warm( take a heating matt for your feet...put it a bit above the floor..on a wooden stool/pallet so you don't stand on the floor. I used this last year for the market..helps a bit. Happy holidays ✨️🎄and to a peacefull 2024

We used to live in the mountains of Central Oregon. It would often get to -30F. a little colder than you had the day of the market. I can honestly say you are hardy to be outside for so many hours. I remember shoveling snow in that weather. My husband's grandparents came from Norway so watching your video was a lovely connection for us. Happy Holidays. 🎄🎁🎄

Wow Norway is really different. You two are so lovely and that painting is beautiful. Such a lovely video to watch and can't wait to see the cabin decorated. Fans on your stove will make the cabin warmer. You could knit blankets on huge needles - warm and fun to have as are furry cushions made with wool and the desire to keep warm there is huge. The buildings are beautiful and I love wood buildings - Roros is stunning. Loved the white God Yul heart with red stitching. You could knit wool hats etc. Sell along side your partner.

I don't know how I found your channel, it is Christmas Day here in Holland, Michigan, USA and we live in cold here but not even close to -30 below. It does get that cold up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I loved seeing Norway through your lens, and the work that you both do is amazing. I love your home, it looks so cozy. What I loved most was how many stars you can see at night, I saw the shooting stars go across the sky, and I was so happy I could see your life and your home through the lens of your camera. Finely crafted cinematography, as ever, Leena 😱I can't believe how you survived standing around in -30C. Were the huts insulated and fitted with heaters ? Army surplus arctic sleeping bags are a cheap way to keep warm.
