Christmas Prep, Breastfeeding update & Twins Turn 1 Month! [weekly vlog]

Yesss Ellen! I breastfed my first for 2.5 years! It was so easy she never had even a drop of formula .. With my second she completely went off breastfeeding at around 6 months I couldn’t get her to latch I pumped for her for weeks and it made me absolutely miserable so I stopped and she had formula I felt like a complete failure after breastfeeding her sister for so long but it was the best decision for my mental health! She’s 2 now and super happy and healthy, do what ever makes a happy mama and baby ❤

Nursing the first six months was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Once past the six month part it went much easier but not without challenges. Twins and nursing has got to feel like double the pressure. I’m so proud of you Ell for trying and for working toward being kind to yourself through this process. I commend you!

You two are the cutest parents and have 2 of the cutest babies.

It's so amazing that the boys seem rather calm and you can take them out and go shopping etc! Our twin girls cried pretty much the entire time when they were between 0-3 months, it was so exhausting for everyone! Glad to see that everyone is doing well, really loving the vlogs! It's so refreshing to hear someone talk about formula in a positive way as well because there seems a lot of negativity towards it which is completely unnecessary.

Your twins are so adorable, my heart melts when they’re on screen. Also I love that your vlogging style is very realistic, I hate ultra refined vlogs where everything appears perfect. Please keep up the rawness.

I cannot believe what you two get done in a day. I just procrastinate and hardly get anything accomplished and you guys have cleaned the house fed the kids multiple times been to sleep, and out to a restaurant. You two are amazing. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I was the opposite the pressure to formula feed is insane and nobody ever talks about it. Nobody ever asked me how my bf journey with both my girls was going :( I nursed them for 3 years each in the end. Your journey is yours and as long as you're all happy and thriving that's all that counts. Gorgeous boys you have and you and fab are doing amazing!

I really think breast feeding is the hardest thing a mother will ever do but it is a very wonderful journey to take. It will get better. Not shaming formula fed babies. Like you said they are fed and a fed baby is a happy baby. Best of luck on your feeding journey

If u decide to keep pumping I would recommend the elvie as it’s a great hands free pump the only issues with being an over supplier with it is u have to change the bottle over mid session but you get use to it. I would say the pumping gets easier as you can stretch it if you are an over supplier just little at a time to avoid mastitis but 100% agree a fed baby is a happy baby and your two boys are very cute.

Merry Christmas to the four of you. I have thoroughly enjoyed all your vlogs, you are both so down to earth and real. My two children are 16 and 14 now, but listening to you talk about your breastfeeding journey really took me back as I struggled to breastfeed my first baby and ended up formula feeding as I got really upset over it. I formula fed my second baby from birth and they have both grown into healthy teenagers. So lovely to hear your journey with it as I agree mums are put under too much pressure to breast feed!

I never knew about the mental health side of things my mum suffered from manic depression before she even had kids and had I known this would put me at higher risk I would’ve been better prepared see this is important information I need when my now grown sons have children thank you for sharing this ❤

Hi Fab and Ell, I breast fed my first and then my second I breastfed for 6 months, my third I didn’t think I could manage to cope with breastfeeding my third so I just bottle fed but I got postnatal depression and with my 4th I so wanted to breastfeed but I had to have an emergency c section and was really poorly I lost a lot of blood and needed surgery to stop the bleeding after my son was delivered i was too poorly after to breastfeed it was a shame but like you said as long as your babies are fed that is all that matters your doing a fabulous job with combined feeding though and I agree there is a lot of pressure in new mums to breastfeed and you should do what’s best for your own personal circumstances. The boys are growing so quickly now I can’t believe how quickly time flies. They are both so gorgeous. ❤❤

Thank you for saying that if you have to formula feed your kids being fed. My consultant came in and said breast is best & I said I can't because of my meds and he was like oh yeah. & She was 6weeks early and she was tube fed etc and we have mental health in my family and I got postnatal depression really really bad. Boy I wish I had people like you Ell . Ohh we had that with the boiler issue 🤦🏼‍♀️ Keep going with the latte art 😂then the icks started 🤣🤣🤣 brutal-then Fab said I don't have any more- nicely played my hubby said 😂 have a wonderful Christmas and New year 😊

the babies are growing wonderfully and they have changed a lot so I find it easier telling them apart. well done Fab on the double scoop that isnt easy. I think when you have new borns the first 2/3 weeks you find it surprisingly easier to be woken in the night then that adrenaline wears off so you are then exhausted. I loved the closeness and contact you have been breast feeding a baby but it is painful. I dont remember being prepared for the pain of my milk coming through, your breasts go so big and hard that I struggled to get comfortable to sleep when i laid on my side the breast at the top would feel like my skin was being ripped, and one my back the weight of them was just so heavy, so I ended up semi sitting up. Great video. And an encouragement for other new mums. There is a family I follow called Brad and Rach they have had two sets of twins and a singleton. And she managed to breastfeed both sets of twins and singleton. Your body can produce what both babies needed. My first pregnancy I was expecting twins. Sadly one died before birth but my milk supply was huge. I ended up supplying the milk bank for special care babies. You’re doing great

I wanted so badly to breastfeed my daughter, who we had done IVF to have, and I wanted the whole experience. Unfortunately she was jaundiced in the beginning and extra sleepy so getting her to latch and eat was a struggle. As someone who deals with depression, when we went to the pediatrician after about 5 days of lactation nurse visits, weighing before feeding, after feeding, trying nipple covers, etc. our pediatrician looked at me and said "It's okay to be done." and I burst into tears with relief. Although I wanted it to work, at that point it was the nurses and some family that had pressured me to keep going. That's really hard to do when you're already sleep deprived, your hormones are all over the place, and you have this new little being that you love more than life and NEED to keep healthy. I had severe engorgement and I remember to this day, and it's been 21 years, the nurse telling my husband to go buy a head of cabbage and wrap my boobs in them to release the milk. We laugh about it to this day, because he went to the grocery store, bought the cabbage, and I was sitting on the couch with my boobs wrapped in cabbage while he fed her a bottle, and the milk just poured out of me. It was hysterical, relief, sad, and every other emotion you can think of. That's when we knew we were done. This was how my journey ended, lol. She drank the bottle so easily and we all took a 4 hour nap which was the most sleep any of us had had at the time. Just as you said, my advice would be to listen to yourself, follow your instincts, and remember that fed is best, no matter how that happens. As for the rest of the video, you guys continue to amaze me and the boys are just beautiful. I hope you have a magical first Christmas as a family of 4!
