Today we control Gatwick ground during the evening Christmas rush on the VATSIM network. Unfortunately, we did not see Santa. Special thanks to my colleagues Korey, James, and Rishab above and below me.

This isn’t real life atc so I would suggest looking at that rather than a sim. As much as they try and follow the same procedures , it just doesn’t compare.

@@JbBackFeeble But does that defeat the purpose completely? I mean, having this as a reference for learning is not a good idea? The way I understand it is, these are people trying to apply real life procedures in a simulation environment. There is even some role-playing at some times. Of course the scale of things is not comparable to real life, but it's also a video game. Don't you think that's at least a good first step for someone that has so much to learn about all subjects related to aviation?

@@ophdeverdade2270Not if you're going for your PPL. If you're aiming for your PPL, watch videos by VFR pilots like the flying reporter etc.

Thanks for sharing, working towards my Gatwick endorsement right now. Hopefully we will cross paths sooner or later! Also FYI I'm not sure why your controller list isn't working, you shouldn't need to have to keep tabbing into SimAware to check the frequency for GMP/DEL. On my client the frequencies are all shown in a list. Happy to help you try and get it working.

how much experience would you say is needed before applying for vatsim controller training?

Probably a good couple of months flying, so you know the ins and outs of flying procedures and radio communication

I really love your attitude towards people, it's refreshing. Some controllers do not factor the human condition into this great sim we all play and can be quite hostile and passive-aggressive, have a great Christmas brother.

New here! Love your attitude towards mistakes. As an brand new Vatsim pilot, this is something that I bet every new one wishes. Hello i have been wanting to become a controller for A long time but i dont know if euroscope is safe i downloaded it the vatsim uk but it always says that Windows protected your PC any ideas thanks so much if you respond Edit: fixed the problem but have a couple questions •how long should you expect to start atc training because i will be traveling soon and dont want to miss my training •also before you get assigned a group to start training should you start the theory course

Depends on your division how long you are waiting. It is up to 1.5 years in the UK. Yes, start your theory before.

@@thevatsimcontroller Tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and pissed off every single controller. Maybe a 2hr commercial flight isn’t the best way to start using VATSIM.

Other games like Tower! Simulator 3 have voice command recognition, but it seems it is still wayyy too shallow compared to the real deal. Though, Tower! Simulator/3D more or less makes you do almost everything, including landing and ground. However, when you just start out, most of the pilots have automated taxi-ways and stuff so its an easy entry into the genre. I think considering how ludicrously long the EU waiting lists are, it might be easier to just do the real ATC training then to do it for VATSIM.

20:36 when I was a courier I had to drive into Sydney airport and there was an A380 parked next to where I had to drive. It was so big I actually had to drive under the wing.
