One thing I've learned, when you see something at $1 Tree . . . BUY IT! Don't wait, thinking, "I'll get it next time.", as odds are you won't be able to.
I completely agree you deserve the moniker "Professional Dollar Tree Shopper." You've never steered me wrong on DT products, and I love that you're honest about some of them being a waste, even if it is only a dollar. Thanks for all the great tips and secrets!
This is my "no spend" Christmas. The young people are all getting handmade hats, crocheted because there's a bunch of them and crocheting is faster than knitting. Adults are getting things like hot mats and dishcloths, again handmade. This is great! I get to de-stash and clear out some of my yarn clutter, and the reecipients get warm hats or useful items made with love. I have a box of decorations that I store carefully every year, so that I don't need to spend anything on that. Dollar Tree in Canada is very different than in America and doesn't carry the range that is available in your country. I do like their wrapping papers and bows, though. I love adding stickers and little tiny gifts of candy. Chocolate coins have been a perennial favourite, and the kids just go nuts when they see that there's more than just paper. It slows down the flow of paper-ripping and tossing.
Thank U for your tips!! New comer to your channel, just enjoy your tips, ideas and I never purchased a pop top light, idk they had a handle so they could be hung! I like to be prepared since last year of 5 days with no electric!!! I now have them in every room. Thank U!!
Yes! I'm in Canada, too! Great ideas! My daughter in law gave me a set of crocheted dishcloths last Christmas and I think of her thoughtfulness every time I wash dishes with them. Great idea for taping chocolate coins on wrapping!
I love this - may I suggest you crochet some tree decorations. My nan crocheted us all individual snowflakes plus some other bits and bobs through the years including garland. It is so special to pop those on the tree and think back over all the memories
I specifically go to the Dollar Tree to get holiday signs. I put them up around my entry way on command hooks and switch them out every season and store them in the back of my coat closet on a hanger. 😉👍
As a Dollar tree employee I can recommend that you go back. Unfortunately as you mention there are issues with here and there that are effecting inventory levels but the stores have received things later than usual. The stores have now received full loads of seasonal product. Even if you dont use it for this year, buying now while most stores are still at the $1 price point could save you money. This year has been the first year in more than 3 years or more years that DT has introduced so much new product.
I like using Dollar Tree’s wrapping paper for my doors. I use maybe 1-2 rolls for each door, depending on the roll. I always get compliments each year.
This a wonderful idea. I was going to go to Walmart and see if they have their Christmas door covers. I will just go to my Dollar Tree here in Central Florida and get some of their wrapping paper and make my own door cover. Tyvm for the wonderful idea. I don't want to go to Walmart for one item.
@@jessicarene731 basically I cover the front of my door (opening the door helps) with my paper, folding a little over each side and taping it down with clear packing tape. I use an exacto knife to cut out holes for the door knob, lock, etc, taping the paper down around the openings. If you can find a roll that is wide enough for your door, you may not need extra rolls. But it all depends on the pattern and size of your door.
@KathyA: TOYALLY AGREE!!! I too hate throwing away a dollar on things i won't use or buy just to throw away : like GARBAGE BAGS !!! I buy only el cheapo Gbags for a buck wherever i see them. Yes, I know they're thinner guage than name brand Gbags & one would run the risk of it break ing, however, I'm the type that would go nuts, cringe & "skeeve" (a misspelling of an Italian language word basically meaning "be repulsed" ) if I had to put my hands into garbage, MY OWN garbage, once it's packed up for the trash can. Slimy egg drippings, mushy fruit, spoiled fridge discards, tissues etc Ugh!!! I will not suffer gladly. I accumulate small bags daily--to 2 days worth of garbage , tie 'em tight then place them in the larger Gbag which is already lining the trash can, awaiting my small deposits. And now that the el cheapos have draw strings I'm a happy camper. I simply can't justify, won't accept spending $10--$15 for a box of plastic bags that are just gonna be thrown out -- along w/the slimy egg drippings, etc. It's not laziness. I'll do baby diapers, hand wash dishes but will not pk up a mix of garbage off the floor from a busted Gbag. Any one else out there feel the same about this Gbag thing?
I literally stopped your video to order the Christmas trees for all my 4-H kids. If they come in in time, we're going to have a Christmas tree decorating contest. And it only cost me $1 per kid! Thank you for the hot tip!!!!!
For the last couple of years I have seen a Hallmark brand (made just for the Dollar Tree) of wrapping paper. It is really decent quality. They have grid marks on the back too which is always great for a cutting guide or a folding guide. I've never had any problem being able to fold sharp creases with this particular wrapping paper from the Dollar tree and it's really cute too!
I love putting the hanging signs in the middle of an out door wreath or somewhere outside. Then, for 1.00 , I don’t care to throw away and get a different one next year. They are a easy decoration for outdoors
I like to get the miniature candy canes , but what i really beat feet to my DT for is the jarred mushrooms and french-fried onions for the green bean casserole, you get so much more than the name brand for $1. I also get the olives and pickles for the relish tray there. Oh, and i get the food storage containers to send leftovers home.
My DT is an awful one, but I was impressed with the new blush colored ornaments, the glittered initials, gold embossed paper. Got some great sparkly faux greens very early on, grabbed them because I knew they’d be gone. Bought a mini tree for the first time because they had white, impressed! Not bad at all and the wrapped stem is very nice. Many very pretty candles in glass containers. Never see many of the things my favorite DT ladies haul, but at least I know they’re possible to find. Just learned today that the prices are up to $1.25. In a major city. Sad face.
two of my favorite dollar store christmas hacks 1) Get one of the mugs in a box and fill it with foil wrapped chocolate or treats for a super cheap filler present. Also, i have several metal flowers from the ornament section that came with alligator clips already on them and i use them to fill holes in holiday up dos and hair styles for work. With baby number two due any day im not sure what christmas in our house will look like this year.
Hi! I LOVE that you keep it 💯 about what NOT to get. I’m so tired of the videos that are insincerely positive and try to sell perfection. You’re right, that paper doesn’t fold! 😆 Also liked hearing you pronounce “Merry” like “Mary”, that’s got to be a CT thing. So cute 🥰
These are cute great ideas! I have a Dollar Tree near my home and have not gone to visit yet. I have checked into their online store. And now thanks to you I will gladly go visit the store and buy the items that I need for decorating and wrapping a few gifts for my nieces. On another topic, ceramics and dinnerware, I have bought dinnerware and serveware from the Dollar Store in the past, and the pieces are still in great condition. Perhaps something happened to their (DT) distributor's warehouse or they changed techniques or policies or employees. But when I bought a new set of bowls from Dolar Tree about two years ago they lasted for a week. I've had to use Boscov's online store. Again, I don't blame the guys in charge, I'm sure everything will turn out better next year. I love your excitement for Christmastime, Kallie! Thank you! 🌼❤️
Thank you for another fun video. Recently, I notice that the DT here has licensed gift wrap paper (DC comics and Disney), but I have not tried it to see if it doesn't crease like you said. I like using bags because the people receiving them can reuse them.
The dollar tree lego bases work well with actual Legos. Have not tried the bricks yet. Also if kids are into action figures the final faction figures are a great find. My kids 6 and 8 like them a lot. There are also adult toy collectors who are raving about them.
Went into a DT yesterday, and so surprised how empty all the shelves were, especially the Christmas products, kinda scary😳 Thank you for mentioning the things you feel are a waste of money, and shouldn't get. Your Christmas tree looks really pretty.
I agree as far as the wow stuff. My DT really didn’t get a whole lot that I haven’t seen before. It kind of seems like left over stuff. Now, wrapping paper - we love for kids! They don’t care about paper quality. So we use a different wrapping paper for each kid so it’s easy to see what present is for who. But the Santa gifts get the fancy “expensive” paper
There's just one thing I'd like to add. I frequent Crafters Square for DIY materials as well as other areas for wreath forms, flowers, etc. And especially now with all the Christmas items, you really have to pick up the things you would use for crafting as soon as you see them. Because if you don't and you try to return to DT to pick up those items, they won't be there when you go back to the store. I've watched DIY videos and then gone to DT to get the items needed for a project only to find they were already out of the items. Crafters just get in the habit of picking up something they think they will need because if they wait until they go to DT again, the items won't be there. And the best part of this is if you don't end up using items, you can take it back to DT. Full disclosure, DT will not refund your money but they will give you credit for different merchandise. And since I seldom leave DT empty handed, I have credit to spend on other things, including food items if needed. So if you depend on crafting supplies from DT, you have to get it when you first see it or you will miss out. I've gone to DT countless times after watching videos and wasn't able to get any items on my list. So I now pick up items as I see them, knowing I can return them if I don't use them. And I have returned items to DT. I had no receipt and one item had no sticker and DT still gave me credit for everything. The only thing DT doesn't take back is food items. So if you shop at DT a lot and you work on a lot of projects, you're aware of how fast merchandise disappears. Which basically means if you're a frequent flyer at DT, if there's any chance you're going to use an item you see, don't think that you can wait until your next visit to buy it, chances are that item will be long gone. I just wanted to make this point, especially for new crafters, so they are familiar with the speed that items fly off the shelves. And don't be afraid to return items you don't use in your projects. You don't want to end up with piles of unused items when you can return those things and get new items for new projects. I've even returned spring and summer items in the fall. So there's no time limit for returning things.
Decorating ordinary street trees in the sidewalk in front of the house is becoming very popular here in San Francisco. Those plastic ornaments would be perfect!
Looks like you found some awesome stuff! Thank you for keeping it real and reminding us to buy with intention. One thing to note with the painted dishes if you’re using them to eat off of is that sometimes the paint will start chipping off. It wouldn’t be as bad for the glasses since the paint is on the outside, but I don’t really want paint in my food…
👋 hi. New friend here of your channel today. W0w. Great video, congratulations professional $Dollar tree 🌳 shopper. Yes, supplies are limited in many areas. I hadn't heard of Dollar tree raising prices announcement, thanks for keeping us informed. Looking forward to catching up on your videos. You are enjoyable and entertaining and informative. HUGS and GOD bless us everyone
Dollar tree isnt raising their prices. They are making more stores a dollar tree plus store which has a small section of items for $3 & $5. The rest of the store will still be a $1. What they are doing is raising their taxes. So items that are a $1 are still a $1 just instead of a 1.08 with taxes it'll be $1.50 or 1.56 with taxes. Whichever they choose.
@@toristarkey5229 no, that's not true. A store cannot choose to raise their taxes. That is a state determination. DT is raising their prices by up to 25 and maybe 50 cents per item, on some items, due to inflation. It is costing them more to supply their stores than what they are making, due to the cost of shipping and manufacturing.
@@toristarkey5229 your source was incorrect. As someone else mentioned, that is not how taxes work. Employees don't always know everything that is going on within the corporate structure of the store they are working at.
Thank you for your honest review. I feel like so many DT influences just rave, and rave, and rave. You are so truthful and honest. (My crafting stock would also agree, as it collects dust...). :)
I don't have issues with the DT wrapping paper. I have a bunch of those mini, table top trees! 😁 I love DT'S cards! As always, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊🌲
I like the plain "wooden" seasonal craft items to add some enrichment to my geckos tank. She has an "Eek!" Climb right now and im going later today to look for a snowflake.
I totally agree on the gift wrap. We used to buy it from Dollar Tree all the time and still do on occasion but when we have a lot of stuff to wrap we just spend a little extra and get the good stuff. I get tired of poking holes in it when I'm trying to wrap.
I have to respectfully disagree, I've found some great things this year so far, like these beautiful clear plastic reindeer, really pretty bottle brush trees, cute gnome stuff, and nice Christmas glasses. Every store is different too so stuff I can't find, friends have found in their stores in other states, I guess it all depends on the buyers and what they send to each store. Happy shopping! :)
Monika didn't say there was NO great stuff.. She just said that there is less new wow stuff than usual (due to the factors she mentioned)... ALL the stuff you mentioned as great.. fall into the categories of the things she mentioned as being great and worth buying.
Wish we had 1 in Hawaii. However, next month, after 2 years of not traveling, I wil finally be traveling to WA and will definitely be visiting a dollar tree store.
Love your videos. You are a funny lady...I had a hard time with their wrapping paper last year. It is so thin and flimsy that it would tear as I tried folding it and adjusting it. I won't buy anymore. But like you, I love the majority of items. ❤
Just saw this video...TFS ALL THOSE GREAT TIPS!!!! You are so easy to listen to...even though you do speak fast!!😳☺😄 appreciate all the comparisons you make for our information....❄🌲🎄🎁🦌☃️♥️🤗
I was thinking of looking at the holiday cards to see if I can put any in a frame, like with the Halloween card hack you had posted (I did two for Halloween and it could be nice to change it up for different holidays.
Hi, Kallie! I love your videos and trust your judgement. I’m post videos you’ve shown items that are worth buying and you’ve never steered me wrong! 🥰🥰
Thank you for being our Professional Dollar Tree Shopper we all need one in our lives😂 Congratulations are your new reign you most certainly fit the title.
Hey!! New subscriber!! Thanks for all the helpful ideas 😃!! I just saw your channel pop up on my feed. So happy 😁!! You're so creative!! Thank you for sharing!!
I never have an idea when I buy craft stuff at dollar tree. I prefer to buy things that I think I might use in a project. Everything always comes in handy at some point.
To reduce waste (and reduce time shopping for specific items), I’m just giving my family gift cards 😂 I got Christmas cards with the gift card holder at Dollar Tree today and I was pleasantly surprised at their selection!
