Dear Arne and Carlos, I am sitting here knitting on the evening of the 23rd watching this beautiful episode for Advent. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the immense light and love you two send out to us, your viewers. I am so grateful to have you two to relax with every few days. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Merry Christmas! 🎄 ❤

What a delightful surprise to see your most personal, precious holiday ornaments and to hear the stories of their origins. Thank you for so generously sharing your lives with us! I value your knitting and designing skills but you take it to another level with all the added fun. I feel like we are friends, even though we’ve never met!

What a treat that you would let us see your treasured decorations! I think this is one of my favorite episodes! I love the stories and history behind each of your ornaments, just as I too enjoy pulling out our ornaments and remembering the dear people who gave them to us, our children who made them, and the ones I've made also! Thank you Arne and Carlos!

Arne&Carlos, the silver tea thing is called a tea strainer. And my grandfather was a gold and silversmith and my family used to have a lot of different tea strainers. I always remember my grandmother using hers when we visited them on a sunday afternoon. Brought a tear to my eye; she died in 1972 and I cared for her on a autumn holiday week from my college; should have gone to a trip to Germany that week, but I preferred to stay with her. My grandmother was more important to me than that excursion trip. And I am still so glad I did, because she died a few weeks after that. Thank you both for this special memory. Maybe a tree in the kitchen with tea strainers would be fun❤❤❤

In the church's tradition Advent Sundays 1,2 & 4 call for purple vestments and candles, while Sunday 3 uses rose/pink. The purple symbolizes the darkness of sin, while wrose/pink symbolizes the joy found in Christ. The Christ candle, lit after sundown on Christmas Eve, is always white and more prominent than the other candles. It can be taller, fatter, higher, etc. I really like your red candle holder. It looks like it's made from large beads that have been glued together.

Love love your Xmas tree. A tree filled with memories and handmade things. I have four grown up children and things they made still appear with their stories. My son when he was 2 years old refused to move past this beautiful pink angel. So sadly we lost him to cancer a few years ago. Many tears have been shed as we put the old tattered angel on place of glory on the top. She is now 40 years old and we hope we can patch her up for a few more years. You two are so talented and funny and I get so much pleasure out of your videos. Stay safe and enjoy.

We only have one tree each year and it is full of memories. Gifts, ornaments we've collected, things we've made and things our children made. Over 50 years of Christmases together. Some of our original balls look like your vintage balls but they aren't glass. We were still at university when we bought them. Our first star was made from the silver paper from a takeout container! We had a few clip on birds that sadly are rather tattered. Our daughter mentioned one year how they brought back fond childhood memories. Now, each year, we try to find her a new bird for her own tree. "Designer'" trees look beautiful but we love our memory tree.

Love the tree! We gave our children an ornament every year……when they grew up and moved out they could take their ornaments with them. Then the next year they each gave us an ornament. Whenever we went on a trip we bought an ornament for a rememberance. Now that we are in our 80’s we can look at our tree and enjoy the memories of many trips.

I love having more than 1 tree. I love to fill a crystal vase with the broken ornaments. I can place a candle in the center of the vase or ornaments, and it will glow so beautifully and cause the ornaments to sparkle and shine. It reminds me of the Christmas story of the misfit toys. You don't have to be perfect to bring joy to others while you find a new way to shine.

I love the door behind you with the beautiful outdoor science with the birds. The light bulb ornament is very beautiful. We have some old ones from my grandfather that are very similar to your family’s. Like you, they are precious to us. Perhaps Arne likes to have your rabbit rattle on the tree as it represents how lucky he is to have you. My family still puts a corn starch ornament that I made in elementary school that was decorated using markers -even though it’s broken and has been glued together. You are very right that putting those ornaments that are handmade or given to you on your tree. To me they represent family and friends and their love. Could you make new or upcycled ornaments from the broken ones? That way they can still be on the tree and you will have both old and new memories of it in one ornament. I don’t remember Arne’s garland but what about knitting with fun fur yarn to make it and it won’t shed all over. You have created a beautiful tree - and not just in looks!

I still have the old ones and will have a second tree next year for those. I hope to have a third tree with just knit ornaments as well. Y’all are such an inspiration. Like many others, this was one of my favorites. I so look forward to seeing your Christmas episodes. I am 74 yo and I have favorite memory ornaments. I have such a small tree that I only put my different sheep, my icicles (which are like yours), and my knitting related things. I do have two or three spinning wheels too. My special memory of Christmas is the candy making. My parents always started the cooking the week after St. Nicholas day. My husband had never had fresh made marshmallows. So every year my grandmother made him a special tin of marshmallows, some with chocolate coating, some rolled in toasted coconut, and some with candy sprinkles. She warned me that I was not to eat any of his treats. She told me I could make my own. My husband's other favorite was divinity. It has been such a wet and cloudy December here that I have not made any candy this year. Yesterday my daughter-in-law brought me two bags of fresh marshmallows made in her town. I'm set now. Let Christmas begin.

I love the embroidered tray commemorating the fairytale based on a true story of the Two Princes and their adventure to find the perfect Christmas tree in their Beetle at a gas station ⛽ where they sell Christmas trees. They arrived at the station ⛽ and they found they were all out of trees. They decided to go to Doca so they fueled up their Beetle for the trip about 40 kl away. So on the went in cold icey weather. They finally reached Doca and they found a tree. One of the Princes tied the tree to the top of the Beetle and they started home. Unfortunately the Beetle broke down. They were towed home later.Got home and wow, their TV was broken. The next day they went to town to buy a new TV and then we're able to watch "Cinderella and the 3Nuts" and "Christmas at Downton Abbey." What great story.

Oh… your search for Olivia! Brought tears. We have a similar “dilemma “ at our house. Aaron Carter (who recently passed) also is a precious ornament to us . When he and my daughter were both 14, Make-A-Wish arranged for our family to travel to Boston for his concert. She had cancer, was bald and he allowed us backstage before the show. He was so kind. She celebrates her 35th birthday today and in her developmentally disabled understanding the world she still regards him as her forever friend, who sings every song to her.

As a child, my church (Lutheran denomination) had 3 blue candles and 1 pink for Advent. The blue are sometimes exchanged for purple, but my church used blue. The first 2 weeks were blue for hope and peace, week 3 was pink for joy, and week 4 was again blue for love. The Christmas candle was white for us also. I love learning about the different traditions and the meanings behind them!

I too am of the "Christmas trees should be covered with memories" school! Since we are in our '70's, we have smaller trees and everything can't fit, so we trade out from year to year. This year I found a Pink Cadillac glass ornament a la Aretha Franklin of which I'm quite proud. Hopefully we will move from our current home in Northern California to Southern Oregon where kids and grandkids live and we can get a young person to help carry in a bigger tree! I can't put up a tree anymore because it's too much work for me. I enjoy my daughter's tree on Christmas Day. When I moved into my condo none of my Christmas stuff came with me because there just isn't room for it here. I left behind most of my things and it makes me sad. I really enjoyed watching you decorate this tree and talking about your ornaments so much. I grew up with some of the things that Arne has from his childhood. I especially remember those "half" ornaments, I loved them. And we had skiers and ;pinecones too. My sister has most of the things from our childhood. I have such fond memories from Christmas with my family growing up and from my kids' childhoods. I hold onto these memories more and more as I get older. I don't get to see my grandchildren open their gifts, so Christmas just isn't the same. I can't drive at night, so I don't even get my favorite part of Christmas - going to church on Christmas Eve. Even as a child that was Christmas for me, not the opening of gifts the next day. I loved singing the carols and hearing the story of Jesus' birth.

I think this may be my favourite episode. ❤ Thank you for sharing the stories behind your ornaments as you hung them. So many are similar to ones I remember from childhood and you brought back so many wonderful memories for me. My mother had passed down the ornaments from our family to me and some were even from her childhood. A number of years ago, we had an accident with our tree and two of my favourite ornaments broke and I was absolutely heartbroken. It took me a long time to throw out the broken pieces. I love your idea of an ornament cemetery. I now wish I had kept the pieces as you have even though it was so painful to see them each year. The best moment in this episode for me was to see your Mexican angel. I had purchased one that was almost exactly the same as yours in San Antonio decades ago and had given it to my mother one Christmas. It’s now in my collection and it always reminds me of my mother and those amazing Christmases she and my father gave me for so many years. It’s been many years since they’ve passed and you two have evoked so many happy memories for me with this episode. Thank you so much and best wishes to you both for a very merry Christmas and new year.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us. I always wish I had an audience when I decorate my Christmas tree every year. Like you, I like to share the memories that each ornament evokes. Maybe I’ll take pictures when I take them down and write a little something about them. I forgot to add the VW bug with the Christmas tree decorated with Christmas balls. Two Scandinavian princes went out looking for the perfect Christmas tree, I think.

Our tree is like your’s every year. Some ornaments are from my parents, some my children made in school, some were gifts and many of them I’ve made over the years. Love to see them every year.

Love your hand made and antique decorations. My favorite is the half ball that sparkles inside from arne’s family

🎄How exquisite a tree! Trimming the tree brings such beautiful memories of people and places. Ballerinas! Tea! Musical instruments! ❤ Merry Christmas to all!
