My local store in Altamonte Springs, FL is closing tomorrow (7/30/23). I will miss them. They were a cool store and I loved the fact they played oldies! It made the shopping experience even better!

It stinks they're closing!Loved going to the one by me and the many on Cape Cod when we go away!A guy that works with me and at Christmas Tree Shop gave me a small green Christmas Tree Shop basket,so cool!

Yes the bed bath and beyond was next to my Christmas tree shop and closed last week in Portsmouth NH 😊

I only ever went to CTS once, it was a popup store in my hometown during the 2021 Christmas season. Loved the placed. Wish there was one closer to me, but the ones in Dayton and Erie aren't exactly a doable drive on tight budgets. This store will be missed!

This gives me great big emotions. I worked at this location for three years! Great memories and people and so much glitter.

You are not alone in your disappointment of the CTS closure. I loved the store myself and so did my mom. I'm still in denial that they are gone even after nearly 5 months since their last day. I went with my mom on the last day. We shopped the Manchester, CT store. Only for 4 years, but we were very familiar with them long before. A family friend who lived in the same town used to bring us things from there. So glad we got to go ourselves. Some people don't realize the impact a store can have on others.

I wasn't introduced to Christmas tree shops until i moved out to Florida back in 2017. We went to the Altamonte Springs location snd i always looked forward to going in late october when the rest of their Christmas stuff started getting put out on the shelves. I bought our Christmas nutcrackers here and various Christmas decorations. The employess were always friend and you would amazed at how much their foot traffic would increase the closer we got to the holiday season . I'm going to miss Christmas tree shops.

I just discovered your videos. I too loved Christmas Tree Store. Anytime I was in the new england area, I would shop at as many stores as possible. just seeing their sign would make me happy. Thank you for sharing the video.

Willie, I’m the same way….I love old familiar things and old favorites. It is sad to see them close down and go away, esp if they’ve been around most all of my life. I love Christmas too, and all year round. It not unusual for me to listen to Christmas music in the middle of the summer, or watch Christmas movies any time of year. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s & find myself longing for the stores, products and restaurants, even some of the styles from those days. I miss the commercials from those decades, some of the candies and even the shampoos from back in the day. It may sound silly, but it seems to me that things were just better back then. The world in general just seemed better somehow. It’s sad to see lot of those things and places, forgotten and lost in time. That’s why I like your videos, you visit and re-visit places in time, that are often otherwise forgotten and under appreciated. Thanks for doing a great job in paying respects to some of the old classics, and as you say, “old friends”. Many of the places you’ve visited have been or were part of a of our lives in some way.

I worked for years in that same plaza at the DSW. I never went into the Christmas tree shop because I didn't realize it was more than Christmas stuff!!

We're closing a lot of stores that was around for decades sad😢, I'm glad that you're doing a story on this I'm from Ohio, Didn't have any Christmas tree shops in my area I do remember you doing a Christmas video not too long ago. Good video And be safe out there.

Our only Christmas Tree Shops in Augusta closed today and we got to come in for the final minutes!

I just said my goodbyes today, even though i was never the target audience... i am still nostalgic for the store exterior and the commercials. I also asked about baskets, they said "near the end"... guessing mid-august

Christmas Tree Shops, were actually a chain that I grew up with, I remember each time I went to the one local mall, we would stop in and pick up some stuff. I made it one of the priorities for my birthday today, to stop by one last time, on its second to last day. Just like Toys R Us 5 years ago, I decided to purchase a shopping basket as a bit of a relic of what we’re about to unfortunately say goodbye to.

RIP Christmas Tree Shop.

The only time I've heard of the Christmas Tree Shops was because of a dollar store in my town. They were selling 90's deadstock of various stationary and they all had the Christmas Tree Shops price tags on the back of them. Shame that the entire company is going out of business, the store looks really cool.

it was a sad day when our Bed Bath closed, but right before it did I bought Lincoln, a succulent plant stuffed toy, even at a last chance price it was still 13 bucks

It's going to be sad that your favorite store is closing. I haven't seen anything like it in my town. But on the +POSITIVE SIDE, at least 5 Below is next door to it. I've seen the inside of it before.

The one and only Christmas Tree Shops that was in South Florida only lasted six months. The store announced it was closing before I even knew about it.

I can do without BB&B but CTS closing hurts. They are going to be missed. They were more of an old school variety type store with good prices. I didn't realize they were such a small chain of only 70 stores. They probably needed an owner that would invest and grow them nationally.

This store is going to empty out fast. I'm glad you got a video at this store.

Is it just me and I'm a late 70's kid but does it seem like the internet played a big role in all this it's like in time no stores will exists it'll just be stay and home and click online I don't fancy that I like going to the stores and interacting with folks.

I love my Greensboro NC store! This really upsets me! I’ve bought hundreds of items at CTS over many years, esp. their unique beach items here in NC! So very sad !!!!!

They never advertised. The internet destroyed the newspaper ads. I live 18 miles to the closest location. Personally, first I have heard of them.

Was hoping for a Hills snack bar truck video from you figured you were the first in line when it opened.

We have a CTS across the street from where we live, and my wife worked there for years until they didn't have any hours to give her, but she's friends with all the employees at the store. It's really no secret that the liquidators marked everything up substantially to have their 10% discount. The large boxes of Victor Allen coffee, for example was marked up by over $10 a box. We went in there when they first started the liquidation, and people were going INSANE filling up carts with anything at 10% off. Suckers. We feel bad for the employees, most of whom have been there for years, but luckily we have a Market Basket opening right in town that's going to require a lot of employees. So now, we're going to have an empty CTS to add to the empty JC Penney. It would be great to get an Ollies to fill one of the holes, but they're not around here. Unfortunately, we've seen the demise of CTS coming for a while. They weren't getting any new stock and most of the store was marked down items from the last three or four holidays.

Up in Williston VT, they have one…I used to never really care about this place but as I kept shopping at this place, I grew into it. Loved this store.

I bought one of those cornhole sets. Extremely cheap and flimsy. Boards shift every time a bag lands on them.

I've been to that store. When I serviced equipment at Hamot Medical Center it's been about 4 years

it's a shame so many places are closing, makes me wonder what chain of stores will be next.

Look at the prices. It's clear they marked everything up before marking them down for liquidation. I've bought pool noodles and Victor Allen K-cups for example and they are never that much. A local went to one and posted a video on TikTok exposing the labels over old prices where it was double or more for certain items. No bueno

Had some very briefly in St Louis area; for whatever reason they did not last long here. Tuesday Morning, a pretty similar chain is also sitting on the bubble right now on the verge of going under. I think people here were confused by the name - I never went in because I thought quite literally it was a store that sold Christmas items exclusively. Kind of a bad name, honestly.

There is one over the river from me in Augusta Ga, and we only went to it a handful of times, and at least the one here was kind of cluttered, and never found a whole lot that we could not get other places cheaper. Also I think their name, and last of advertising like compared to stores like Big Lots hurt them as well, as why go there in the middle of July if all you think they sell is Christmas stuff, when here a Target is in the same shopping center, and Walmart is not too far down the street.

Where else can you get all of the stuff that only Christmas Tree Shops, ( I refuse to abbreviate ) don’t think there was anything that came close, for any holiday displays, especially Christmas. I have placemats and tablecloths for most holidays. I have my summer themed stuff out now. I’ll have to rely on my stock. Ocean State and job lots don’t compare, five below or Home Depot neither , have that kind of seasonal merchandise. I never liked bed bath and beyond, always cost more that what it needed to be. Sail on Christmas Tree Shops.

I do have one question, So why is that Christmas Tree Shops going out of business? I thought they were best store to get Christmas trees, what happened?
