I've been wanting to try lametta tinsel on my tree for the longest time and decorate with vintage ornaments that i've collected over the years, now that i've done it i think the effort putting into the little details is so worth it, it's the brightest, shiniest tree, ever! I'm hooked!
My house is filled with vintage items everywhere i thought might as well make the tree looking vintage and classic too. Who else is getting tired with all white all neutral decor like me? It's a cycle i supposed, next year i might have just a plain tree with nothing else BUT only lights. Let's see.
Here's the link to my mushroom ornament diy video:

If you are using tinsel this year, and dont want to spend big buck on em, just get cheerleading tinsel pom pom instead, cut them in small bunch, say 4-6 strands per bunch and hang them just like that (cut em thinner like i did if you want, make yourself comfortable with a series of netflix first cos trust me, it's very time consuming). I did this many weeks ago when no where was selling lametta, i rather just wait if i were to do it again.
Tinsel was created in Europe in the 1600s and while it’s thought of as the flimsiest decoration, it was developed by hammering paper-thin silver alloy until it was paper-thin and cut into strips. Tinsel mimics the effects of ice, and some believe that it represents the starry sky at the nativity scene. While it was originally used to decorate monuments and statues, tinsel quickly became a popular decoration for Christmas trees, as it enhanced the effect of the candles and lights on the tree.
Mr. google.
I never liked tinsel to be honest, especially the cheap looking ones, but when i was searching for inspiration, i fell in love with the look of how people decorated with tinsel traditionally back then in the 50's 60's. The flickering is magical, so sparkly and almost diamond-like.
I had lots of fun decorating this tree, hope you like it too, please like, share and subscribe if you do! Next i will be making a mushroom wreath, stay tuned!
