My great grandfather took part in the Christmas truce. I still have the cup that was given him by a German soldier :)

Fun fact the game of soccer or football ended when the ball was kicked into some barbed wire and soldiers even hunted and cooked a pig that wandered onto the field the Christmas Carol thing actually started when the British sang one that the German knew and both started singing together when it was originally one side would sing then the other would clap and begin singing and even before Christmas soldiers were being friendly some reports indicate that a German placed a empty glass bottle in the middle of no man's land and had a shooting contest to se who would hit it first

I wish every war or conflict had one of these

I like how this shows that there was no true enemy in this war just countries dragged in via alliances and turned to bloodshed

I did this with my class as a class production in drama class back in high school lol

that's nice how the allies and axis got along for a day! 😀

What's really disturbing to think about is that, I bet some made a connection with each other and then days after ended up killing one another anyways, it's kinda sad, that's why there shouldn't be truces like this

I've been to war... no chivalries or warm moments in the Middle East. At least not between enemies. I'm sure that this small moment of humanity between the Brits and Germans must have had been quite a sight to behold.

A British officer went down to the trenches one day and saw a German soldier in the opposite trench fully exposed. He asked a soldier next to him why he doesn't shoot the German, the soldier replied "Why? He ain't done nothing to me"

Those soldiers were lucky that they had this chance. If it was WW2 and the SS was fighting, there would be no truce.

Yea this would never happen in today day 1 cause the way we fight is completely different and the humanity of people has lessened it's a kill or b killed no mercy 4 any 1 it's the sad and harsh reality we must now face

This shows that everyone even the enemy has a soul, not one filled with darkness and hatred
