American actor (and singer if some people in the early 80s are to be believed) Christopher Atkins presenting the song 'How Can I Live Without Her' from the soundtrack of 'The Pirate Movie' on the Australian ABC TV music show 'Countdown'.
First broadcast 29th August 1982.

Get ready for a bombshell..that isn't Chris Atkins singing no its the guy who wrote the song and our hero is lip synching the words..well we have a hero lipsynching his love ballad...kicked me in the gut finding this out.

Its rumored that Christopher Atkinson didn't sing his parts in "The Pirate Movie", but actually, Chris did sing his own parts - but he admits they used a LOT of sound mixing and over-dubbing to get him to sound decent! They even released a 45 of How Can I Live Without Her.

He is not that great of a singer. His voice required alot of sound mixing and over dubbing of his own voice for it to sound decent on the final track.

No one ever trained Christopher about avoiding acting when performing a song. The facial expressions are over the top. But the song is so good it's easy to overlook.

As a kid,watched this movie all the time on HBO,I used to love this song as well as ,"Give me a happy ending". Btw the audience clapping is way off beat

He was such a doll. I read he was wanted for Footloose, but he was to messed up when he showed up, so it went to Kevin Bacon which was great. I think Christopher would have been great in the role too.

To find out Chris Atkins didn't sing the song wow that hit me hard..the guy went through vocal coaching and he lip synched the words by another guy,wow that really stung me hard the fool couldn't sing a note.

Excuse me, but i just Google if Christopher atkins really sung his part in the pirate movie and yes he did sing in his part. It's a rumor that he hadn't. He went threw extension training to sing that part so this is his real voice just as Chrissy McNichol sang her part to with local coaches they both had for the movie
