@@HurriShane00 We always thought she said “up yours too froggy” which made us laugh. We say it all the time. All. The. Time. My kids who are now grown will say “up yours too froggy” 😂😂😂
I know pretty much every song by heart except modern major general and that song the daughters sing on the beach. My favourite is pumping and blowing and pirate king
Yo recuerdo estar en la butaca del cine cantando está música y continuar haciéndolo junto a mi hermana por años! Hermosos recuerdos que están vivos en mí 😊❤
I have a feeling pirate movie will live on because I’m gen z and have been blessed with a mother who showed this to me hahahaha I will definitely pass it on to my kids someday
Such an underrated movie! Has become a massive cult classic here in Australia. One of my favourite movies ever! ❤ I was 11 when the movie came out and I was enthralled from the first moment. Although I have the VHS and DVD, I must mention that that is really hard to find a copy of the movie anywhere these days! Lucky I got copies early on before they were hard to find. Chris and Kirsty’s vocals were both amazing considering that neither really had any singing experience.
Agree to all of that! I still have my VHS tape that I recorded the movie onto. Not in the best condition anymore. Lol. Also have the DVD thank goodness. I've had the CD for years but found the original LP last year on eBay after searching for months. So grateful to have them all in my possession. I still love this movie 40 years later!
BTW, out of curiosity, have you seen Muriel's Wedding? Australian movie from the 90s with Toni Collette. It flew under the radar in the states, but my love of ABBA made it an instant hit and classic to me when it came out and still love the movie. I was curious how the reception to the movie was in Australia and if it was popular or a dud over there.
Not sure how I stumbled across this song in 2020... after almost 40 years... but now I have it stuck in my head! The purity of this song is seriously lacking in today's music.
@@readingwritenow7199 Same here!! I totally loved it too as a little girl, had the soundtrack and played it, esp. the love songs constantly, into my early teens. Even as a kid I completely was moved by this song...
Love this movie! I got to meet Christopher Atkins a couple of weeks ago at a Comicon. He was very kind and got a kick out of my cosplay of Cruella lol. After I took a picture with him, he asked if he could take a selfie with me. After he took the picture he was like I'm putting this on my Instagram page 😂. That was pretty cool and certainly something I will never forget 😁❤️.
please please give us a blu ray. LOVE this film so much. I have 2 DVDs/. I swear I will buy 2 blu rays. Editing: OR a UHD 4K release like they did with Little Darlings. :)
This movie and the music from it are so underrated in my opinion. I think it was very well done, and has held up very well, in addition to being an amazing time capsule of that era.
Whoa, WTF?! I've watched this movie at least once a year since I was 10, I know almost all of it by heart. Where did that last verse come from?! I had this thing recorded off of HBO when I was young, it wasn't edited down, and this version of the song is a about a minute longer than the version I know. My world just spun upside down.
When will I find I love? Where will she be, And if she's out there will she wait for me? How will he know me? Will I know him? Is there no end to all my questioning? Can I believe what I am seeing, what I am feeling Something so rare, watching her there She makes my heart stop. Can I believe what I'm feeling, my head is reeling, He just looked my way, from the start I can say I will give him everything. Strange emotions wash over me Like the motion of the deepest sea, And I feel First love (I need nobody but you) You're all I'm dreamed of (I will be constant and true), Love moves me inside like the moon moves the tide. My first love. Can it be true? Can this be real love? Am I worthy of a vision so pure O lovely one, she's what I waited for. Can it be true, or am I dreaming? He makes my heart sing Watching his eyes, a look that warms me like the sunrise. Strange emotions are calling me, I am falling, falling helplessly in First love (I need nobody but you) You're all I'm dreamed of (I will be constant and true), Love moves me inside like the moon moves the tide. My first love. Some kind of miracle brought you here Just when I'd given up hoping. From the moment when you first appeared, I could feel my whole life opening in First love (I need nobody but you) You're all I'm dreamed of (I will be constant and true), Love moves me inside like the moon moves the tide. My first love. My first love. My first love. My first love. And I promise to be true to you My first love.
@@JoeyLorenzo My obsession with Atkins is Endless Love...But looks like NJ Native Brooke Shields already got my dream job... however I love to reface me as Brooke And Kristi....we are pretty cool chics
To this day, I still still recall all the lyrics from every song here. If I could do a movie, I would have Glee remake this and guest star Johnny Depp!
Saw it when I was 10 and HBO played it daily my young gay in the closet self loved both of them so much....still love this movie almost 40 years later!!! It was very under rated.
9% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 77% audience score. I owned this on VHS and now have it on DVD. I watch it every couple years. I'd totally buy a Blu-Ray remaster of it. Great songs. Fun story. This movie was so underrated and it's sad so many people missed out on this treasure.
I would be proud, in your shoes. The locations are stunning, and I'd absolutely sign up for a Pirate Movie Tour of Australia, similar to the LOTR ones I've heard about in NZ.
Glad we have a world like that now. I'm straight but Atkins is extremely appealing in this film. He is also surprisingly modest about his singing voice on the DVD commentary. Honestly, I have a man crush for Ted Hamilton as The Pirate Kings! :D He is beyond hilarious. I watch this at least twice a year. A real day at the beach pales.
I'm 52 and saw this at the theater with my brother (may he RIP). We loved this movie back then. I haven't seen it since the 80's. This needs a blu-ray release now!!
The DVD looks pretty good so a blu ray would magnificent. Would totally buy 2 if they released it. Many of the actors are still around so extras would be highly possible.
@@radioman970I've got the DVD also and love it so much!! But your point is so exciting! How incredible it would be to have the Blue Ray extras with cast interviews, "the making of," outtakes, etc. I love the one outtake they included in the closing credits with Kristy inside the suit of armor and needed to get rid of her chewing gum. 😂
@@siennalake4326 Yeah, that outtake with her inside the suit of armor is fantastic. Kristy was so likeable. There is hope. The controversial summer camp film she did with Tatum O' Neal and Matt Dillion called Little Darlings got a 4k UHD limited release from Vinegar Syndrome. If you like the film you should know it's stunning! I paid about $45 this release but I've read they will be doing a non-limited release that will be cheaper. It does include a blu ray as well. Maybe we'll get the same treatment for The Pirate Movie. I brought it up on a forum about the Little Darlings release and we're not the only ones who love this film.
Christopher Atkins had a good frame, surprisingly no one directed him towards bodybuilding, he would have been up there with VanDamn, Stallone & Swartzenegger as a action hero ? 💪
Christopher Atkins and Kristy McNichol played the voices of Aladdin and Badral in the English version by Golden Sync Studios of *"ALADDIN AND THE MAGIC LAMP"* was produced by Toei Animation Company, Ltd. and distributed by The Samuel Goldwyn Company.
1982, a mis 19 años viajaba a Guayaquil Ecuador...estaba en mi segundo año de la Universidad y en el autobús sonaba esta canción...Tengo ese recuerdo grabado en mi mente...escucharla alegra la vida...🌻
I never even heard of this movie, and I had the hots for McNichol since _Family._ I think I must have just dismissed it as a _Blue Lagoon_ knockoff, which it seems to be. And Brooke was cuter!
I think the word Gilbert & Sullivan are spinning in their graves at this is tossed around a lot these days 😒 right! Time to watch Their Greatest Hits at the Royal Albert Hall and to take an aspirin…
He was my first crush that was in a movie.i was only five. Three movie's I dated through since I was 5 was Grease Gone with the Wind and The pirate movie
