She is charming in a skanky kind of way. She's all confidence, totally conceited, determined, and radiates a kind of exhibitionistic honesty. And then there is the slew of countless great hits she has created and her unbelievable videos I mean Madonna is his sister and he loved her, I think he always felt like she would eventually reward his loyalty and hard work. As nearly everyone in Madonna's life eventually finds out, you're role in her life ends as soon as your usefulness to her does
While I do believe there is SOME bitterness on Christopher's part, can you blame him? He was RIGHT THERE with his sister from the beginning, riding the wave of success and working as her backup dancer. He saw her vulnerability and human moments up close and personal, and he had rare access to her that she never gives these days. Madonna gave a lot of her staff (dancers, back-up singers, friends) room to shine in HER orbit. That's how we Leos roll: we are natural balls of magnetic light that attract people. However, that doesn't mean she was a very kind or generous person to be around. In her 20's and early 30's, she was still building her career and definitely full of herself. For her own brother to write a book exposing her says a lot. To be fair, Christopher probably misses all the good times he enjoyed with her in the 80's and 90's.
I really liked the book. However, I've read other stuff about her, and it sounds like she was not a nice person. She might have changed, but having had a mean sibling, I can totally understand why he wrote the book. He's no saint, but neither is she. She needed him, he showed up, and when he did, she's like, "can't use you." Then, she calls him again, and he shows up. There's only so much you can take before you say, "fuck this." I don't blame him for writing the book.
i get your point Gloria, but there's always more than one side to every story. I bet Madonna probably will give you a different version, not because there is one that is true and one that isn't, but because we all see the world from our unique, own, point of view. I never give much credit to these type of readings. They might or might not be close to the truth.
I read the book years ago and now after watching these interviews.....geeeesh!! I am a Madonna fan and tried to accept the book for what it was....sorta liked it .....but now after watching this.....she brought Chris to New York and although he assisted her...she gave him his start. It was her star power! What a see now is an ungrateful sibling that either is mad because he is not the same STAR or at the same LEVEL AS SHE....or is just plain SOUR!! Although Madonna had a lot of help along the way let's give CREDIT where DUE!! Her drive and work ethic made MADONNA...MADONNA!! She had a desire burning deep within herself! He should be thankful that she gave him HIS BREAK! He wouldn't have achieved his wealth and fame without her! And yes...families are gonna fight and not always be so nice to one another...but think of this...those family members Chris is saying she is unkind to...what about them? Because she is wealthy is she responsible for all of their upcoming and bills. Maybe those same members didn't treat her so kindly or offer to help her on her climb to the top. Maybe they laughed at her in the beginning and were not so nice! Who knows? But I've seen many a people ignore and treat certain friends or family members like "heck"...then when they make it...they turn the tables claiming they were always supportive and in ones court! I believe in goodness....and love....and sharing!! But people remember...2 sides to every story!! Let's not take away what this little lady from Michigan has achieved!! She had nothing....but a dream...and made herself an international ICON!!
I think the book is wonderful and now I am even a bigger fan of his. What he did was to open everyone's eyes and make no mistake Reje, the legend Madonna and the human being are too very diffirent creatures.
It's no secret that Madonna has always been very strict, and outspoken to the point that most people have called her a bitch. We also know that she really doesn't like her family, especially her father, she still grieves for her mother, and she misses her mother everyday..she's a loner. she's just very independent.
I liked the book and it didn’t make me any less of a fan of Madonna - she’s worked very hard to get where she is and she doesn’t have to apologise for anything
I am 47..have been a Madonna fan since her start in music..NOT A PSYCHO fan but I like and appreciate her..for some reason someone gave me the book Christopher wrote and for 2 years I had it stashed away and never even opened the thing...came across is about a week ago and thought what the hell, I'll read it..I have to say,it is good..it is not a bash Madonna book..some really great stories in it..I was pleasantly suprised..totally worth a read... Kirk...Montreal, Canada
rhymeandreasoning - I agree, I am a fan since 84 and I can 100% agree with everything he says in this book. She has never had the best reputation, and it’s actually sad that her younger fans can’t realize she is not a god, she could be an asshole like anyone else.cher called her a cunt for a reason. Lol
Personally I don't think it was the morally correct thing to do but then neither are half of the things Madonna has done. I will always love her no matter what I read. I feel for them both. They were once so close but certain circumstances have obviously come between them. After reading this book I came to the conclusion that Christopher, as a grown man, had a problem with saying "no" to Madonna. His own fault, not hers. Never mix friends with money. Or in this case, never mix family with money!
I'm not gonna say he's not jelous of Madonna but he at the same time if he was with her sister since the beggining; he deserved better treatment. Madonna was so selfish and somehow she tried to defend her position of superstar even with her family and that is not necessary at all. Im having fun reading his book and something inside of me tells me that he is telling the truth, I mean, he even speaks bad of himself. Madonna, he is your brother, and I think he misses you.
His reaction at 2:12 reminds me a lot of Madonna, specifically when she says about Moira's painting "it's not bad really." You can definitely tell that she and Christopher are pretty similar.
I've read many comments. I see that most people in this thread are taking sides with Chris and think after reading his book that he's a poor victim. I'm not going to say that I disagree, but what we must always take into account is that each one of us have our own version of everything that happens to us. Most of the time our view is totally biased (naturally) and NOT objective. I would say the same if it had been the other way round, M writing a book where she talked about her brother. You really can't give much credit to stories that are told by just one side. I have an opinion on the fact of Chris writing the book, not what it says inside. I think he just wanted to make a few bucks and get his "revenge" in the process. I don't judge him for that, nor Madonna. But I sense that Chris feels a bit bitter and resentful toward Madonna and that is what comes across in the book, which I enjoyed, by the way, because as much as a Madonna fan as I am, I still like to read other things about her that are not continuous praise and compliments.
Do I think Madonna was mean, cold, selfish and a bitch, yes. Do i believe what he talks about in the book. Sure. My problem is that if she was all those things to him, he admitted continuously going back to her knowing how she is. That was his choice. He shouldnt blame her. Blame her for treating him that way initially, but once you know and you keep coming back than its your doing. I know its not as simplistic. I’m sure he needed money and loved everything that came with hanging out with a star who you were so close to. My other issue is that he did this book for monetary gain. He keeps talking money and how he wouldn’t do things unless he gets paid. He didnt care about her feelings. He simply became another person like Junior Vasquez etc. who betrayed her just for monetary consumption. You dont have to write a book for the world. If he wanted to fix or mend things with her or get things off his chest he could have a serious talk with her. Writing a book like this is beyond repair for me. Its a huge betrayal. It also makes him appear like a person that’s not to be trusted. He once again found a way back to her but from a distance and on his own terms. This shows that he’s still “addicted”. I get it why he wrote it and maybe it was revenge and money, but as close to I am with my family even if i was a bitch, selling stories, telling my personal business to the world for your bank account is complete betrayal.
I like Christopher he is hot ,really nice face he has the same nice eyes that she has and the mouth, he is a male version of Madonna. Guy Ritchie was wicked to him.
I skimmed his book, it is not at all unfair. She's a great entertainer, enormously talented, but it is not hard to believe she probably treats her brother like crap at times. She is very controlling I am sure, it's not like he discusses unfair topics about her personal life, which I'm sure he could. I actually live in their hometown of Rochester. A friend of mine met Christopher once and said he was a really nice guy, not at all a jerk but that his friends were, lol.
I like to think of myself as a good judge of character, and i really really believe this guy is bitter. His attitude is all wrong, jealousy is extremely ugly!
Gothic,"purse" 4,100 Priest dedication for mJ.S.self "no repeats" im talking about Churches on this Lou Ferro "180's no repeats" read it on this comment King Tut is Courter A. C.
He was there for her in her early days - all of her siblings have lived in her shadow - What do you say if someone asks you to write a book about your sister (famous or not)? You say 'F OFF' end of.
The whole thing to me just sounds very sad, regardless of who may be technically in the right (if there even is a “right” versus “wrong” in their story). I come from a big family too, and it’s never perfect and there are issues but I can’t imagine this degree of bitterness and bad feelings (of course none of us are super famous, so there’s that). It’s got to be hard for her siblings, I’m sure. Her sister Paula seemed pretty bitter back in the 80s when she appeared on Oprah. I wonder what the secret is between Madonna and her sister Melanie, as by most accounts they are or were quite close as well as Melanie’s husband the musician Joe Henry, and Madonna was close to Melanie’s son.
She used him. He always had something going on and then big sis would call him up out of the blue asking for his help, then discard him when he was no longer useful. She also underpaid him too. His book could have been really nasty. He took the classy road. He didnt call her names, he just shared his experiences in an honest way.
My god, he used to be so cute and now he put on soooo much weight! It's a shame that after so many years he stabbed his own sister in the back! She must have been really hurt about all the BS he wrote. He comes across as a spolied little brat, who is envious of her fame and fortune! What was wrong with being her dresser? we all have to start somewhere and work our way to the top.
Sunshine Hernandez well to me, they do. sorry if you don’t agree. same mannerisms, same way of answering questions, same presence. just my personal perception from watching a few dozen Madonna interviews and about a dozen Christopher ones... so in the words of madge herself: “Don’t Tell Me” what you think, comment an opinion if your own. haha.
It's never the correct thing to do for a man to write a book like that about a woman in our present culture. It's not wrong, it's not right - it's just not something a well behaved man, or a gentleman [if anybody remembers that term] would do. It's viewed as catty, and revenge-seeking. It would've been OK for Madonna to write the same book if the roles had been reversed i.e. Christopher was the famous one and she was the employee. I read the book and I feel that while Christopher has every right to feel the way he does, he in no way has a right to go public with his feelings and make bank from it and talk to every fucking interviewer in Christendom. I think that's what shows up his venal side: so many interviews. We don't need to know any more, do we?
