Folks, the thing to remember, that is critical is that Christopher is 72 years old. Don’t expect him to sound still like he is 27 when these songs were first written and performed. I’m 70 and I’m just amazed. Loved seeing him last week in Milwaukee.
It does do something to you. I remember it in the late 70s when my girlfriends and I rented a cottage on Cape Cod. It played all the time. Thoughts of good times, happy times, you can never go back to, but can live through the memories every time you hear the song. I always get happy, nostalgic, tears when I hear it.
Comparto vuestra opinión sin duda son los años maravillosos en música y tremendo artistas uno mejor que el otro, que viva el rock yeah..... saludos desde Lima - Perú 🇵🇪
Exactly. Can't beat the music from the '70s and '80s. Stores still play '80s music, music that was made 40 years ago. What era of music can claim that?
It had to be 1980 when the song was on the radio, I had some assignment due for some class in high school that I had not even started. It was Connecticut and it was snowing that night and I knew there was a big chance school would be cancelled, my alarm radio goes off in the morning and this song was playing clearly, a message and a gift, not only for the day but for life. After the song it was announced school was cancelled. Woke up and finished the assignment. Ask and receive… btw, the chords / composition in this song are “transcendent” and have incredible power, as I am sure many of us can attest to….
Heard this song all the time on my dad's sailboat growing up, which caused me to buy my own. Sailors always have this song in their head. lol I just came back here to look it up because I sail on Canyon Lake and found out it is where this song is from.
Although he is an old man, his voice still sounds so youthfull, this tune will never die. I love to sing this in karaoke. Long live Christopher Cross!!!
Damm , I saw Steely Dan live in 2007, he was spot on/ in the pocket.. didn’t realize it was him, little weight gain. But at 65, I’m right there with ✌️
It's amazing CC is still killing it live in 2023! He's a phenomenal guitarist, singer & songwriter. Grew up with his music and celebrating this awesome Texan every day! Shout out to Keith Carlock.. drummer whisperer. He's recorded and/or toured with folks like John Mayer, Sting, Steely Dan, James Taylor, TOTO, Diana Ross, Faith Hill, The Blues Brothers Band, David Johansen, Harry Belafonte, Larry Carlton, Clay Aiken, Rascal Flatts, Paula Abdul and Grover Washington, Jr, to name a few. Well played my friend!
This song makes me feel all the things I felt back in the day when it came out, the only difference is many of those who used to be in my life are gone now, music is one of the few things that allows you to feel the innocence and wonder that filled your life at one time....... Oh the "music" can do miracles just you wait and see......
I remember listening to this music on a cassette tape aboard my Dad's boat out in the sea back in the summer of 1979. Pure pleasure. And I won't get tired playing and singing on my guitar. Just pure joy that takes you to places as you close your eyes and just listen.
I had this song played at my mom's memorial. She loved this song! I remember listening to WLS in Chicago. I grew up in west central indiana. This is a timeless song.
This was/is a beautiful and timeless classic. Along with Nils Lofgren`s Shine Silently and Prefab Sprout`s We let the Stars Go,three of the most gorgeous songs I have ever heard.
I really want to see this guy live but I live in the UK! Christopher Cross is an amazing composer! He always has been and always will be because this amazing gift does not go anywhere!

Essa música marcou meus grandes momentos de juventude. Me faz viajar no tempo com inesquecíveis lembranças. Só gratidão a Christopher Cross por essa obra prima e reverberará pelos tempos... pelos tempos... pelos tempos...
Sailing is a song of beauty. Never gets old and I enjoy going for the ride every time I hear it. If you haven’t heard The Cafe Carlyle album you are missing a great album.
Cristopher Cross is first class. For me personally, his music takes to a very happy and peaceful place, even after so much loss this past year. Love this guy
I saw them a few days later in Bristol, they were amazing. I got to meet the piano player and the saxophone player after the concert. Ran into them at a nearby bar. Good people.
