Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969 and was the driving force behind what fans call the 14 golden years of the band. He wrote, sang, and arranged the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon with album sales in excess of 60 million. In addition to “Take the Long Way Home,” Roger also gave us timeless classics such as Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Dreamer, School, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture, and many more. Enjoy this performance from an April 2016 show in London.
Roger is currently on tour and selling out shows around the world. Every concert is a powerful emotional journey and his passion for his music and his art shines through in the magic and intimacy that is felt by the audience. For tour details, visit www.RogerHodgson.com or / rogerhodgson .

I was broke and living in a car when this song came out. My life had come to a total stop. This song came on the radio, and it spoke volumes to me. I knew it would be a long way home, to get back into decent living and no longer a waste cake. 50 years later, I'm back home in my home state, and have a home and a family and even a show car. It was a long way home. My next home is Heaven.

I was only a kid when I fell in love with this. My parents listened to it all of the time. After we lost my father in 88 my mother started taking every back road she could find on her way home from work. It was her chance for a road soda and to breath before coming home to reality. I lost mom to cancer in 2018. Now I find myself going out of my way to take the long home Happy Mother’s Day.

I grew up in South Jersey, when I was 17, I drove everywhere in my 68 firebird. Once I heard Supertramp I couldn't stop listening. They saved me over and over in my heart and soul with their spiritual songs. They have always been my favorite. Babaji and Even in the Quietest Moments. I must have listened to them a couple of thousand times back then. Life is a fantasy. You tried to tell me back then and I finally got it. Is it time to know....Babaji, Babaji. Thank you for Babaji!!!

I have just found these videos. (Admittedly not much into tech.) I was listening to Supertramp on the Alexa a few days ago and still love the sound. How I missed it. Agreed this music heals. A lot of music does. I recall being in a dark place in my late teens, absorbing Supertramp's sound - those harmonica and saxophone sounds are incredible - and poring over the lyrics. So positive and oh that music, for me, expressed such hope. The darkness went a few years later. The hope lasts. Forty years later Roger Hodgson's music is still magical. The fact he wrote these in his late teens is just amazing to me. Such insight. Thank you Sir. Your compositions were a light to a lost and lonely soul. God bless you.
