Wrong. The very second Sil was told Chris would get promoted is when Sil knew it was a mistake. Other than getting really lucky when shooting at somebody... Chris was a total screw-up. Shouldn't have even been Made in the first place.
@@donarthiazi2443 He was a screw-up because Tony gave him too much responsibility too fast after Jackie Sr. died. He could’ve been valuable if Tony gave him time to mature and build on his experience rather than rush him from associate to capo in a 10 year period without any guidance. The stress was too much for someone his age and it mentally broke him. He could barely handle the responsibility being a soldier, thinking the mob is just a group of rockstars who made it to the top of the crime pyramid with unlimited money and leisure. You even see it here, Chris has no idea how big of a deal becoming acting capo means because of his lack of experience. And quite frankly, it’s not his fault, it’s Tony’s. Chris was way too young to handle Capo, there’s no reason he should’ve been left in charge of people twice his age with 20+ years experience on the street.
@@likaner1 he wanted everything to happen NOW! you can see in s1 how he is like "i should have been there bla bla" he knows that being nephew to tony gives him lots of advantage over other guys who have proven themselves worthy. instead he choose to be a junkie.
Even though Paulie and Christopher are always at each other’s throats, Christopher showed how much he respected Paulie by wanting to get the same hair-do.
@@bascorasco7984 That was because his mother had died just a few days before Chris's funeral. He was down about Chris being dead, calling himself his "Dutch uncle", but he was broken up at the funeral because his mom had a stroke at her nursing hom.
As much as I love Christopher, this position is 100% owed to Patsy. He not only deserves it for dealing with Tony killing his brother, but also is someone who clearly should’ve been made a captain or underboss much much sooner because he’s clearly more capable than almost everyone else from Tony’s crew besides maybe Silvio or Bobby.
That was the conflict for the episode...one who got passed over in spite of the fact of seniority and experience vs nepotism...look at the godfather, when Michael had fredo as his underboss. The reason tony promoted christopher was because of family, nothing else

Yep. I bet if he was in charge of that crew he would have laid off the flooring because he saw the bigger picture. We all no he just wanted to duck with Chris. Chris couldn’t see the big picture and willingly gave the ok on the wires.

Silvio liked Chris. But he didn't like how immature Chris was and how much favoritism Tony showed him. But as Consigliere he understood it. THAT'S why he gave Chris that look. He's thinking how immature and protected he is.

The biggest mistake Tony made was the continuing disrespect he had towards Patsy. Especially since he killed his brother, and Patsy actually put it aside and became a loyal soldier. Patsy might have been the least screw up in the entire crew, outside Sil. He was just an old school, old fashion gangster. That just did his job. He passes him over. He also showed literally zero interest in him, when Meadow and his son met. He kept looking at his watch, bored out of his mind. And Patsy took notice of it and was pretty hurt. He just thought of Patsy as a peasant. The ego of Tony at times is just absurd. He really did think he was so much better than some of the others on the show. And really wasn't. Tony himself was 'privileged' from his father and uncle. So he started rewarding Chris the same way. Realizing, sometimes, that's not the way it should be done. You should have to earn it. Chris didn't.
Good observation. If you believe that Pauly and Patsy helped set up, or were at least complicit with New York in going along with Tony’s murder at the end of the series, the groundwork was definitely laid for It. Both guys had been around longer than Tony, they prob felt passed over by Tony himself and now they were seeing the cycle repeat itself all over again with another generation in Chris. Tony never looked at them as management material and I think they ultimately had enough of the disrespect and turned on him when they got a chance to.
Remember when Tony slapped Patsy in the back of the head after they lost face at the Columbus riot? Similar situation, it's matter of hierarchy of power who can do what to who.
I agree about having to be careful. Technically though, Patsy DID start talking for himself when he references the 300 million dollar project 1:07. So, he only gave permission to start the conversation, after that, Lil Pally was actually speaking out of turn.
They should really done more with Patsy. He deserved more too, he was smart. Guy could look like the sweetest guy (besides Bobby), but when kinda pissed, he had that devil face, looking at crazy Ralph, not being scared from him at all. I hate to say that phrase "such an underrated character".

I didn't even really remember or notice the joke in this scene until little Paulie brings it up, and it spirals out of control. It feels like the scene was about the no show/work jobs negotiation, but really the joke is far more important.
He was the biggest asshole of the bunch and he never liked Paulie Of course he was gonna try to nickel and dime him, even though it was never gonna work lol

Anyone notice how Ralph's eye twitches when Patsy makes the comment about keeping Paulie happy? Also, I like how Patsy has Little Paulie under good wing in this scene. He knows exactly when to make him join the conversation and when to tell him to keep quiet.
@@seanconlon2408 it's not even just the suit, with the hair and the face too he straight up looks exactly like Wolfe. The accent is a LITTLE off though.
This scene right here should show you why the ending to Many Saints of Newark made sense. The mafia is full of sensitive men with huge egos. Ralph almost got whacked for the joke he said here. Of course Junior as petty as he was going to whack somebody for laughing at him.

Patsy is one of my favorite characters. Even when he was served a plate of shit, he took it with dignity. Ultimately, he is one of the few who makes it through the series.
Its either Butch or him that killed Tony, still had his revenge for the murder of his twin for being the boss of NJ.(Just cant image Paulie being boss since nobody in NY put him on their radar)

What's a journeyman electrician make? $70K per year? Add in medical benefits and pension. Besides getting paid to do nothing, the person who gets a no-show job will get medical benefits and a "legitimate job" for tax purposes.
I just realized that Chrissy and Ralph have always been on good terms with each other. Probably the only two main characters who had no real major beef with one another.
