This episode is so bleak. Just the way the writers practically paint Christopher’s entire existence as a waste of time because of the life he lead and the vices he had is such a dark way to end his character. Not that I thought any of these guys would get a happy ending I just find it such a great tonal shift from what season 1 offered which was pretty much just good times and a lot of comedy.
What Paulie said here was way worse than what Ralph said of Ginny Sack. Not just mocking a made guy's wife/daughter, but outright dismissing their future and making fun of it.
I’ll still never understand why Bobby and Sil didn’t immediately go on the run the second they realized they didn’t get Phil. I guess Tony never did until after the fact so they probably just assumed they would be safe, but idk i feel like that’s a really bad assumption.
The fact that Bobby went to buy a train toy in the middle of the war with the NY family, shows how unfit he was for this life and furthermore, what a stupid decision making him the underboss
Excellent acting. "The Sopranos" was and is a gem, art, and cinematic excellence, the equivalent of television of our time, of the classical music compositions of the likes of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 22nd July 2024.
Funniest thing about this scene is Patsy’s laugh at the end. Not a peep the whole scene but then Chris’s “greasing the union” joke gets him to crack up😂
This is a common misconception. Valery actually killed 16 Chechens, because Slava was referring to the recent Chechen War in Chechnya, a Russian state that borders the Middle East. Czechoslovakia is west of Russia.
This scene is quite layered despite how sadistic it is. Ralph’s whole demeanor towards Tracee really sets the stage for what’s going to happen later, and the quick and sudden change in Ralph’s tone towards Silvio I think is the most interesting. At first Ralph is who he always is in every scene, the biggest earner and absolute prick who somehow also has the balls to talk back to Silvio just as much as he does Tony. But as soon as he hears tracee is into Silvio for 3 grand he changes up real quick realizing he can’t afford to lose face by either paying off tracee’s debt or by standing in the way of Sil’s money. Fantastic scene that also displays Ralph’s relationship with Tony’s right hand man. Ralph’s still a prick unsurprisingly lol
