From C-SPAN's Q&A interview, Christopher Hitchens comments on Henry Kissinger and whether he'd like to "bury the hatchet." Included in Hitchens' remarks "Kissinger's never said a word of self criticism. Not one. And he gets very petulant and angry and spoiled and ugly when he's criticized...But if he was to try it, I'd be fascinated to meet him. Of course." @mvv1408
@mvv1408 Год назад
@@laqueenawilliams4762 Ask ChatGPT: User Going by his body of work, what would Christopher Hitchens' views be on today's world? Christopher Hitchens was a prominent writer, journalist, and public intellectual known for his sharp wit, criticism of religion, and support for liberal values. Although I can't provide his views on the present day since my training only goes up until September 2021, I can offer insights into his general perspectives that might give you an idea of how he might have approached contemporary issues. Religion and Atheism: Hitchens was an outspoken critic of organized religion. He argued that religion was a source of ignorance, intolerance, and irrationality, and he advocated for secularism and atheism. It is likely that he would continue to voice his concerns about the role of religion in society and its influence on public policy. Free Speech: Hitchens strongly believed in the importance of free speech and the right to express one's opinions, even if they were controversial or offensive. He defended individuals' rights to criticize religion, challenge authority, and engage in open debate. In today's world, he might have been concerned about the rise of cancel culture and restrictions on free expression. War and Interventionism: Hitchens supported military intervention in certain cases, particularly those involving human rights abuses or totalitarian regimes. He famously supported the Iraq War, arguing for the removal of Saddam Hussein's regime. However, his stance on the war became more nuanced over time, and he criticized its execution. In the present day, he might have been critical of ongoing conflicts, interventionist policies, and the consequences of military actions. Politics: Hitchens identified as a leftist and held progressive views on many social issues. He was a strong advocate for civil rights, gender equality, and LGBTQ+ rights. However, he also criticized aspects of the left, including political correctness and identity politics. It is possible that he would have continued to critique the left's handling of certain issues while also opposing right-wing conservatism. Intellectual Rigor and Skepticism: Hitchens valued intellectual rigor, skepticism, and critical thinking. He was known for his thorough research and sharp debates. In today's world, he would likely have continued to challenge ideologies, dogma, and misinformation while promoting the importance of evidence-based reasoning. It's important to note that Christopher Hitchens was a complex thinker, and his views evolved over time. While these points provide a general outline of his positions, it is impossible to predict precisely how he would have responded to the specific circumstances and events of the present day.

These two men should never be compared. One was a power hungry sadistic pig. The other, a gentleman on quest of knowledge, and truth.

What's really sad is that Kissenger outlived Christopher Hitchens. Today, however, kissenger has finally passed away.

C-Span = Video Library of Congress (Horse’s Mouth Productions?). Kissinger = “warped frustrated old man.” Luke Rudowski from “We Are Change” causes Henry to show his true colors.

oh gosh, as much as i think his arguments are sometimes too polarized and not always fair and objective, and as much as i don't think he cares, my prayers go out to him...it's very sad to see a resilient man degenerate like this. maybe if enough people believe in him he may recover...

I disagree with much of what Mr. Hitchens has to say about religion and politics, but I am saddened to see him in this reduced state of health. Judging by the comments thus far, we aren't even addressing what he is talking about, but rather, we are struck by his ill health. What a shame. I pray that he will recover or make peace with the God he so vehemently rejects. I'm a fan, even though he and I are so far apart ideologically.
