@ryanwalker8843
@ryanwalker8843 Год назад
@@jamesbond_and_friendsots of genealogists think he may of got a little too excited about the idea of being descended for Charlemagne. Turns out most Europeans are probably descended from Charlemagne. It's just to do with how family trees work. Since the number of ancestors doubles with each generation, 2 parents, 4 grandparents and so on. By the time you get back to Charlemagnes time you'd have a billion ancestors walking around, more people than were alive. So eveyones family tree has to eventually converge and we are all descend from the same people.
@jamesbond_and_friends
@jamesbond_and_friends Год назад
@@ryanwalker8843 Makes sense, yes. Much like how 16 million people are thought to have descended from Genghis Khan. Charlemagne was less rapacious than Khan (to put it mildly), but still had a number of wives and concubines so there’s no doubt a huge number of Europeans are descended from him. I intend to read a biography of him this year, as he is a fascinating figure. It would be interesting to see Christopher Lee’s family tree. I had a quick look on Wikipedia (not the most reliable source, I know), and his mother’s lineage goes back to the 12th century. Barbarossa gave them permission to use the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire. I wonder if this is what suggested a link to Charlemagne. One could go on speculating I suppose!

@BitcoinMotorist NOT so. I'm an American actor and we certainly do call the bad guys henchman as "The Heavies" . It is not so much a British term as opposed to a older term from the Golden age of cinema. Most young up and coming actors who crave leading man parts are often wary of accepting a "heavy" role as those people often then get stereotyped as only a heavy.
