@@ChiIeboy It's a farcical parody, where the farce is: 1) the extreme over-confidence of the producer, 2) the exaggerated importance he places on the lowly "cowbell", and 3) the hyperbolic over commitment of the cowbell player to his craft.
@@ChiIeboy Til I played the cowbell at my class reunion No Will Ferrell ,just me No Christopher Walken Better A local but better band and it’s leader Robbie Limon I didn’t even know who Christopher Walken was Except for being the guy on the Splendor , Robert and Natalie’s boat
@@Lexandjim I think Christopher Walken was the only one that was holding it together. That is the best part of group comedy, when they try to break each other up. Harvey Korman, and Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show are legend.
@@cloudfactory2000I feel sorry for people with no sense of humour... Actually, I really don't. Go watch Greg Gutfield or Amy Schumer or Rich Little. This full skit was comedy perfection.
@@darylhudson777 Then Most people are idiots. I thought he was saying it as part of the joke Now when you say "Most People" Do you mean "In the world" or Are we talking the U.S.A. here again ?
This was an instant classic, and ended up being one of the all time best SNL skits. Christopher Walken and Will Ferrell were absolutely hilarious. Walken was so good in this. GUESS WHAT!!??
One of the BEST skits ever made. And Walken has the most unexpected gift of comedic delivery. Like under the radar FUNNY! Plus there’s always that dork Fallon in the background typically chuckling it up.
One of the best skits ever from that show. Christopher Walken could center his whole career around this one bit. I think this is where I learned to appreciate Will Ferrel.
This is my family and friends all time favorite skit. Thank you to whoever posted this reel. I have been sending this out to all my friends and family tonight. One CHRISTMAS I gave all of my family Cowbells. We had a Cowbell Band. MORE COWBELL❣️😹🐄🐂🐄
This moment in comedy is transcendental & perennially epic. Walken delivered plenty of punchlines/hooks throughout his performance. His vibe is so unique & original that breaking down in laughter is inevitable for me every time 😂
Maybe just YOUR two favorites? The Blues Brothers, Nathan Thurman, The Festrunk Brothers, Lunch Lady Land, Mango, Ed Grimley, Weekend Update w/Dan Akroyd & Jane Curtain, Stefon, Spartan Cheerleaders....and the list goes on...
Jimmy only broke character, because he knew he would get more attention for having done so, it was always contrived. I can’t stand him. The absolute worst!
@@Racoldgin He may not have broken, but if you watch the full episodes he hosted, he can barely get through a sketch without flubbing a line or very visibly reading a cue card. So which is worse? I don’t care either way and think both add even more hilarity to the sketches but to act like Walken is flawless in these sketches is folly.
@@TheMarioMinute Which is worse? I would say Fallon because it was his full time job. Walken was just a guest. And for the record, I never said that Walken was flawless. My only point is that Fallon sucks. He sucked then and he still does, and I don't think he deserved the Tonight Show gig. Not sure how he managed to get that.
@@Racoldgin good point with the full time job thing. I probably meant to reply to OP (or one of many other comments I saw stating Walken was “flawless” while using Fallon breaking as a comparison. 🤣🤣)
Hilarious! One of, if not thee best skit on SNL! On side note, of the actual song, whoever idea it was to use cowbell in such an un-cowbell type song was genius!
@deanpippitt317n0 this scene is longer in the TV version. Each time Walken wants 'more cowbell, baby'. Will shirt gets shorter & tighter. Re-watch the entire skit. Sending y'all love, laughter and more cowbell, baby 🤣

I actually saw this when it was happening on TV Saturday Night Live, and I knew this was great at the time. Laughed so hard….genius! Played it over and over Four Times!!!
If you ever want to see a different side of Christopher Walken, watch a very little know movie "Pennies from Heaven" I had no idea he could dance so well.
Agreed. I'm so bored of modern SNL where every bloody sketch is just the actors and guests "breaking character" to laugh at how silly and funny it all is. It's such bollocks.
Definitely one of the top ten SNL skits ever. It’s a shame the last 5-10 years haven’t produced anything memorable, just political crap. There should be a real poll of the top 10 ever skits
