Christspiracy. The documentary's claims about Jesus & Christianity put to the test, w Kameron Waters

The makers of Seaspiracy and Cowspiracy are back. Christspiracy is another profoundly disturbing film detailing the industrial abuse of our animal kin. Expect more horrific carelessness and exploitation on a mass scale.
Only this time, Kip Andersen and Kameron Waters not only go global but look back in time. “This is plausibly the most significant new discovery about Jesus Christ, in the last 2,000 years,” says the blurb.
But can that be right? Has justified outrage at the treatment of our fellow creatures got the better of them? Initially, I wasn't convinced. But then Kameron Waters reached out to me and we had this long conversation.
See what you think.
[Spoiler alert - we thoroughly discuss the Christian details in the film.]

I am nO Jesus-worshipper but I do recognize prophets and messengers of God The Creator whom I worship, and His Scriptures, one longstanding The Quran, which CLEARLY states God wants humanity to STOP The bloodshed, especially in His name, and that animals whether The land creatures, fliers of The sky (birds), or swimmers in The sea (fish and others) are part of families and communities like you. It NEVER says they are FOOD!

Haven't seen the film yet, but absolutely loved this conversation! Personally, I've always assigned significance to the fact that the sixth Commandment doesn't say "Thou shalt not kill thy neighbor," but simply "Thou shalt not kill." Surely God's Peace doesn't include doing violence to innocents. Also, as a long-time Course in Miracles student, I find its teachings, which frequently include the phrase "and all living things" consistent with an ethic that recognizes all children of God, not only a single species. "Christ's face is seen in every living thing..." My daily prayers include this passage: "I pray that You are awakening and nurturing within each and every one of us, the dreamers, the imperative to reach out to and bless one another and all living things AS TRUE EQUALS, in kindness, respect, & acceptance, and in gratitude, charity, compassion, & love." All my love and gratitude.

Actually, the Hebrew word used in the 6th commandment translates to "murder". "Kill" is a different word altogether. The etymology of the word MURDER is made up of two roots; mur/mer, meaning "to take the life of",... and der, meaning "living, breathing creature". This is the same root used for the word deer -- the antlered animal of the woodlands/forest. Thus the 6th commandment forbids the murder of ANY living, breathing creature/animal, no matter the species. On a related note -- Genesis 1:29-30 is also a COMMAND and has never been revoked or changed,... contrary to what some people have claimed.

@@mikecushing7276 The fact that the Bible was infiltrated/rewritten and corrupted is PROOF that all reverence for animals was removed to cover up for the Church's lucrative practice of animal sacrifice -- the Cleansing of the Temple was spun to be about moneychangers but it was Jesus rebelling against the Church's blood bath of animals, for which he was executed just days later. The "editing" was mostly done to alter anything about the value of animals' lives but also reincarnation, which Christians believed for almost 6 centuries A.D. -- which Jesus taught.

@harveyplantharvester1502
@harveyplantharvester1502 3 месяца назад
Does that book have a vegan viewpoint as opposed to a merely humane/welfarist viewpoint? If so I will definitely get it -- But the problem with cherry-picking scriptures about compassion for animals in the Bible is that the whole book was edited/infiltrated and corrupted (Roman Emperor Constantine and Council of Nicaea Bishops) to cover up the Church's animal sacrifice practice -- that's why you see so few scriptures that value the lives of animals. BUT I would highly recommend a book called THE GOSPEL OF THE HOLY TWELVE -- the TRUE gospel scriptures showing the truth about Jesus and God's love for all animals. (Best version is by Martino Fine Books with beautiful cover)

@@harveyplantharvester1502 What a great question! The book doesn't have a "welfarist" approach but rather an abolitionist stance. Here's an excerpt from the book's back cover: "The Bible calls upon human beings to stop their violence and their abuse of each other, and of all other creatures. It promises that when they do, the animals will also become non-violent. Then, the sorrow and suffering that marks life on Earth will give way to the joy and peace that God ordained at the creation." Well no, Jews during the Old Testament were legally allowed to eat clean animals, according to the kosher laws revealed through Moses by God. It was a sin to eat unclean animals- but not ALL animals. When Jesus established the New Covenant in Mark 7, He declared that all food is now clean. Paul writes about how we should respect those of us who eat certain foods in Romans 14, vegetarian or not. Christians are NOT under the law of Moses, and are 100% allowed to eat meat under God’s law. However, if you feel the conviction not to eat meat, it is NOT a sin. This is the choice of free will that we have.
@channellift2775
@channellift2775 3 месяца назад
You’re also incorrect about the Hebrew word רָצַח in Exodus 20. You’re taking the best English translation we have for that word and breaking down the etymology of it instead of the original Hebrew word that actually means to take the life unjustly of a human- not every living creature. The law was written in Hebrew. The English word murder is just the best translation that we have for the Hebrew word. That’s a poor analysis of the translation.

@@Mrm1985100 Absolutely agreed. So the argument that eating meat is actually a sin based on an English translation of a Hebrew word in the Mosaic Law that contradicts other OT principles is absolutely incorrect, and a lazy argument. That’s my point- I have no disrespect towards those who are meat eaters nor vegetarians based on the scripture you laid out.

96% 5-star Ratings on Rotten Tomatoes of CHRISTSPIRACY of over 250-plus reviews. MY REVIEW: What an absolute brilliant and exhilarating masterpiece, so beautifully pieced together and factually convincing! It was an emotional roller coaster ride -- the mark of a great film - that perfectly made the case of what REALLY happened in the Cleansing of the Temple that day, totally disproving the spin that it was about the moneychangers. What a blessed revelation that Jesus was executed for being a true hero for the animals by rebelling against the Church’s demonic sacrifice ritual. Exposing this huge cover-up is so crucial, and I pray that many, many Christians will see that this is how Jesus (and God) really feels towards animals, not the way the heavily-edited Bible portrays it. Many other religions & their attitudes towards animals were represented and discussed in the film as well. Can’t wait to see this again and the ripple effect it will have on the world!

Rotten tomatoes 🍅 97% and the Waters' and Andersen's other film work speak for themselves to anyone bold enough to watch them, and for me, raise some massively important questions, ones I can't help but think may allow me to benefit my children in the future, like clear-cased health, economic, & climate blights that don't have several complex resolutions, but maybe just one simple one. Each previous film is intuitively tied together (Cowspiracy, What the Health?!, & Seaspiracy) and which lead to this one. Tying excellent research & science from major worldwide organizations makes for an almost tangible documentary experience, that I am sure will also be thoroughly delivered in this film. That all being said, I have no religious connections (raised Catholic) and am just approaching this with an open mind.

Buddha’s teachings were only recorded hundreds of years after he died. Buddha’s teachings were orally given to those individuals or groups who came to listen and be rid of their suffering- his teachings are all about practice and living the teaching, not memorizing scriptures, rituals, or worshipping statues as it has become now. Even those who understand and recite Pali do not necessarily have the proper understanding of Vipassana. Only those who genuinely seek the truth of liberation in their heart will find it, regardless of language barriers. When you knock, you will find the truth- it will come to you. One does not need to be a scholar to know the truth. Too many scholars and Pharisees around, and there is only arguing over lines of text in the end. But no enlightenment. All the scholarly studying becomes a distraction at some point. One only needs the true desire for the truth and realization will happen beyond books and scriptures- just by looking at a flower or beetle…

The problem with cherry-picking scriptures about compassion for animals in the Bible is that the whole book was edited/infiltrated and corrupted (by the Roman Emperor Constantine and Council of Nicaea Bishops) to cover up the Church's animal sacrifice practice -- that's why you see so few scriptures that value the lives of animals and so many that blame God for "allowing" flesh-eating (all lies). BUT I would highly recommend a book called THE GOSPEL OF THE HOLY TWELVE -- the gospel scriptures showing the [deleted and covered-up] truth about Jesus and God's love for all animals. OK, let me try to summarize this , if I may: A. People did not originally eat animals, unless they were absolutely poor (this is why pigs and dogs are "unkosher" , because they were the "non-producing" animals during ancient times that the poor people were allowed to eat, this is why to this day they are considered taboo even amongst the meat eaters). B. Meat eating is a perversion of an ancient ritual called a Yagna. This is where ancient people would worship their God by sacrificing flowers and fruits and other non animal entities in to the fire, to honor their God. People took it too far, and my assumption is they thought "The bigger the sacrifice, the more God must be proud of me, so let's start putting things like animals (re: birth of the barbeque) in to the fire, and even our children." (re: Moloch in the western bible). This of course, is an absolute perversion of the original ritual. (He even says so in Hosea 6:6 "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.") C. At this point, we as humans had legitimately corrupted our path to self realization and enlightenment, and the ancient texts say the only way back from this perversion is if the Purusha himself comes down and is sacrificed (God himself must be sacrificed to remedy this, sound familiar?) (What is the perfect sacrifice? “Satpatha Brahmanam” “Prajapatir yagnah” which means God himself is the sacrifice.) D. The entire Christ sacrifice ritual is prescribed in the ancient Vedic texts (known as Ashwa Medhya Yagnam (Horse body sacrifice)), right down to the thorns on the head: "The Purusha has to be separated from others: While sacrificing the horse, the sacrificial horse is always separated from other horses. A bush of thorns is usually placed on the head of the horse to inform the people that this horse is separated from the sacrifice. Also the head of the horse is considered to represent the Purusha (Sathapatha Brahmana 13th kanda, 6.22). - The Bible says, "the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe" John 19:2, thus separating Him from others. A crown of thorns was placed on Jesus head when he was crucified" So, God came down and participated in a sacrifice ritual to un screw all of us because we supremely nerfed things up . No, you're not supposed to be eating meat, this stems from a perversion of an ancient ritual that was curved in to self worship and a self benefiting ritual. We went from sacrificing flower / nuts to God, to sacrificing Animals for ourselves (re: barbeque). This is the perversion. Acts 15:29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things' That's all folks, anything more than this is legalism, or demonic deception... 1 Timothy 4:4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

@@Mrm1985100 Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians DO NOT show that food choices should express love towards God and Neighbour...both are dealing with the issue of those who for the sake of conscience were uncomfortable eating food that had been sacrificed to idols/false gods 'One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.' Romans 14:2. If a person TODAY doesn't want to eat meat, or use food derived products, such a decision is not a moral, or ethical according to the Bible, but a prediliction. If you want to adopt that prediliction you are welcome to do so, but such a decision has nothing to do with love towards God and neighbour...unless you are planning on eating your neighbour. I can understand people not wanting to hurt fluffy animals, again that is an individual prediliction, but it is not a moral, ethical, or a decision that impacts our expression of love towards our brethren...this is obvious because Paul tells the Romans that a person is free to eat, or not, consequently there can be no ethical, moral or love diffirence between the meat eater, or those who refrained from meat offered to idols (which is not the equivilant to modern day veganism or vegetarianism, no matter what the film maker claims, or reads into history). I do not agree with humans being cruel to animals, or causing them unnecessary harm...the Levitical system privovided protection for animals, and proscribed what was an ethical method for killing an animal...Levitcal sacrifices and feats are not the same as the Hindu feasts, which are the worship of demons according to 1 Cor 10:20. 1 TIm 4 is about a harsh ascetism, which is exaclty what the modern day 'evangelical' veganism movement is...if it is practiced with the idea that there is any moral, ethical, or theological significance to the practice then it is the 'will worship' of the Colossian Heresy.

So, I just looked up Isaiah 66:3 and it also compares making a grain offering to offering pig's blood. The verse doesn't seem to be about the sanctity of lives but comparing different religious offerings and sacrifices: New Living Translation: But those who choose their own ways- delighting in their detestable sins- will not have their offerings accepted. When such people sacrifice a bull, it is no more acceptable than a human sacrifice. When they sacrifice a lamb, it’s as though they had sacrificed a dog! When they bring an offering of grain, they might as well offer the blood of a pig. When they burn frankincense, it’s as if they had blessed an idol. Your interpretation seems entirely based on modern ethics. Also, you mentioned questioning your own conclusions but just because you couldn't see the flaws in your interpretations doesn't mean others can't.

Evidently a lot of delusional Jesus' contemporaries thought so... even Jesus himself. ‭‭Luke 18:37 NIV‬‬ [37] They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” ‭‭Matthew 21:11 NIV‬‬ [11] The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” ‭‭John 1:46 NIV‬‬ [46] “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. ‭‭John 18:3-5 NIV‬‬ [3] So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. [4] Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” [5] “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) ‭‭Acts 22:7-8 NIV‬‬ [7] I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’ [8] “ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked. “ ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ he replied. ‭‭Mark 1:9 NIV‬‬ [9] At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. ‭‭Luke 1:26 NIV‬‬ [26] In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, ‭‭John 19:19 NIV‬‬ [19] Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. Forgive me for writing a longer comment. But I am sure people will find it helpful. Firstly, the dietary law is NOT part of the ceremonial law. It is part of the moral law. The way we eat on a daily basis has nothing to do with the seasonal, ceremonial feasts. Christians were never permitted to eat swine for instance. Act 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, AND FROM BLOOD and FROM THINGS STANGLED, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. Please study Acts 15, Paul and the disciples, at the Jerusalem conference, decree that strangling animals and eating blood is unlawful. The Bible says the life of the flesh is in the blood. Eating blood makes one crazy. Hence, one reason why we see all the madness in the world. Paul never endorsed the eating of swine, shellfish, animal fat, etc. When Paul says, "he who eats only herbs is weak," HE IS NOT SAYING THAT because he thinks flesh meat is healthier than vegetables. Paul believed that health reform and healthy eating were a gift from God. And it is by faith that enables us to eat a certain way. And where does faith come from? "From hearing the Word of God" (Romans 10:17) But if one were to eat only vegetables, they would be in a caloric deficit and rendered very weak. Kosher meat, eaten 2000 years ago, was not the best food, but it could sustain life. Back then, it would be superior to a vegetable only diet (I am speaking of a strictly leafy green diet, not a vegetable diet with grains, fruits, and nuts) The true "weakness" which Paul speaks of is one of faith. He wants people to judge for themselves, based on THEIR OWN UNDERSTANDING OF THE LAW, what the Bible teaches about eating. Paul was most worried that compelled assent to any doctrine, or conformity to outward observances without being convinced, would be hypocritical and of no avail. It would hinder healthy eating and other important topics. Paul, was arguably the most Christlike, in that he wasn't concerned about any outward reform, because he knew that mankind is powerless to adopt any changes of his own violation. All change is through the grace of God, and by cooperating with Him. So, Paul like Christ, focused on the regeneration of the heart, because in this way all outward forms of eating, dress, and conversation would reform, if the will and heart were surrendered to God. Hopefully that helps! Blessings!

The reason they make the decree is because there are many Jewish people in the congregations who are offended at gentiles doing these things, and they want to make peace at the time. Just because the Bible record something at all does not mean it is to be thought of as an lasting truth for everyone. Like wearing head covering for women, it's just what is said from the sensibilities of the time. But things change. Now Christianity is its own thing, and there is no need to abstain from anything that might offend anyone anywhere. Eating blood is fine. Isn't Christs blood even more so the life energy? It is fine. We are invited back into the garden. Where I live most people eat blood. They are not crazy. If anything, as less and less people are eating blood, more people are going crazy. But still, it is important to keep thinking about these things. treating animals well is definitely good and wholesome. All is permissible, but not all builds us up.

Drinking Christ's blood is a symbol of studying the word and prayer. He wasn't advocating cannibalism as the Catholics do, for all intents and purposes. You say we are invited back into the garden. You do realize there was no death in the garden. So why say we should eat blood? As far as female head-dress attire goes, their hair acts as a covering in public. If you study Acts 15, you will see that the Gentiles were indeed required to keep the dietary laws in the OT. Again, these were not abolished at the cross. Only ceremonial statutes were abolished because they typified Christ. For instance, sacrificing a lamb symbolized Christ dying on the cross. Once Christ died, no need to sacrifice. @@MortenBendiksen

@@TheHealthReformersFrom where do you get this? This is my body, this is my blood. Whom so ever doesn't feast on it has no life in him. Chist is the Word, the text of the Bible tells of Him, and does not replace Him. You must feast on Him. I fail to see any way acts 15 supports gentiles having to follow OT dietary laws. There is only one requirement laid on them. And this includes nothing of instruction to keep doing this for ever. It is simply a matter of keeping church disipline at the time, and later generations can obviously do differently if circumstances change. There really is no law that must be kept as a matter of law any longer. Not even the 10 commandments are binding as law. But there is much wisdom in them. We are now free to lollow Christ's example in what manner is actually uplifting to us and our neighbour. This is both easy, terrifying, difficult and wonderful at the same time. Where we end up is up to us. The standard is absolute perfection, but no one is measuring except ourselves. The only solution? Feast on Him.

I actually think this is a very serious problem and I want to encourage Mark, as a someone who has a platform and people looking to him, to be considerate about what he is drawing attention to. Obviously he already is: Dante, Blake, Barfield etc. But maybe his instinct to be sympathetic is not always for the best. Apologies if I’m overstepping, like I said before I have a lot of time for Mark.

Christianity has been manipulated for centuries by carnists for their own violent ego agenda. These new perspectives that show the Prince of Peace in the correct light will rattle a lot of people who are stuck in their own ways. Animal slaughter and abuse are deeply ingrained in the collective consciousness and psyche and “conservatives” (those who want to keep the status quo and violent power structures because it benefits their ego) will have the hardest time letting go of their sinful lifestyle. To know that Jesus completely opposed this is shocking to them. So those who don’t want to change will grasp at straws to find any way to bash those who speak up against animal slaughter and abuse. But this is a revolution that will end in peace- peace for all, and the animals deserve peace and happiness just as much as we do.

Actually, if he really wanted to discuss the killing of animals, why doesn't he start with the Jews since this type of "sacrifice" began with them. Specifically in Leviticus. He's a coward and being intellectually dishonest because he knows that if he did, his movie would never get made. Just take a gander at Leviticus 1, starting with the "burnt" offerings. "If your OFFERING is from the herd..........and notice, G-d is not speaking to Christians.

Jesus did eat fish for a purpose, He didn't ate fish to sustain his life after resurrection, He did it to prove the apostles he live can can eat flesh after resurrection.

Swallowing the suffering of animals as "food" will absolutely defile you. The Bible was rewritten and corrupted by violent flesh-eating men, Roman Emperor Constantine and his Council of Nicaea Bishops, to cover up the Church's lucrative practice of animal sacrifice. All reverence for animals was removed. Paul was an infiltrator and mass murderer, as stated by Thomas Jefferson: "Paul was the first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus"

So.. this guy is now a vegetarian because of his "overwhelming evidence," which is really just a new angle on "touch not, taste not, handle not" (Col. 2:20-23) in his efforts to establish a new version of holiness. These "lists" of what IS and ISN'T "good" in God's sight (1 Tim. 4:4) are doctrines of devils; by which a completely false "definition" of holiness is taught to the minds of men whose conscience is seared with a hot iron. This guy is clearly deviating from the crux of the material while making large assumptions in his efforts to establish "new ethical Christian standards." Just another heretic..

Colossians and 1 Tim 4 are talking about a harsh asceticism not veganism. Christians' food choices should express love and justice: read Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 10. Why are you using texts out of context in order to do whatever you want? According to you being compassionate is being a heretic. You're the one that has seared your conscience based a very poor reading of Scripture.

Regardless of one's religious upbringing, one can choose to be merciful. I'm not aware of any religion that says one must kill in order to get to Heaven, Nirvana, etc. If you live by "do unto others as you would have done unto yourself," there is no way you would incarcerate, torture, kill and eat others or their eggs and dairy which also cause them great suffering and death. ❤🐣🐖🐕🐟🐄🐔🐈🦃🐢❤

Agree. There is so much arguing over words and scriptures on this thread. Mercy and compassion are all that is required. As you say, isn't that practiced by all faiths? 🌿🙏
