Forget what passes for female boxing now, this was the fight that got female boxing on the map and gave female boxers the respect from the sport and money came in for them. Ironically women still fight for just 2 minutes mostly, totally unfair.

I met Deirdre gogarty in Ireland I was boxing only 12 and she was heading out to USA to go pro, very nice person and a good fighter represented Ireland before any others in women's boxing now look at the women's boxing , Katie Taylor and lots of hot prospects 🇮🇪🥊👏

She a beast in and out of the ring,husband tried to kill her and she survived. She's soooooo cool.i fell in love with her.

I watched alot of christy's fights, the women were always the undercard, but if Christy was fighting , i knew it was the match i wanted to see! I got to watch some with my daughter and step daughter, they very much enjoyed seeing girls getting t.v. time like the guys. Christy is still my favorite womens boxer, i thought about her last night and was looking for some of her fights and just discovered about her husband p.o.s. trying to kill her, not sure i missed this, but im so glad she survived it and that she is better and happy😊❤ much love and respect to this remarkable fighter and amazing woman!
