Isn't Declan Sinnott simply brilliant? Everything he does with Christy is classy minimalist, every note he plays adds to Christy's performance and nothing he does detracts.
@@patsavage1245 Hm...I wouldn't go that far; I've seen Christy solo and he was just as good; besides, Christy was never "average" in any way, shape or form.
I've loved this song ever since I first heard Mary Black sing it so many years ago. I will always love Mary's interpretation of the Bright Blue Rose, but Christy's version has made me rediscover it in a new and special way for which I will always be grateful.
One of my favourite Christy Moore songs. Heard him sing this live at a concert in Belfast tonight. The whole concert was amazing, just him and a guitar. Love his voice.
I skimmed across black water, without once submerging Onto the banks of an urban morning That hungers the first light, much much more Than mountains ever do. And she like a ghost beside me goes down with the ease of a dolphin And emerges unlearned, unscathed, unharmed. For she is the perfect creature, natural in every feature And I am the geek with the alchemists stone. For all of you who must discover, for all who seek to understand For having left the path of others, you find a very special hand And it is a holy thing, and it is a precious time And it is the only way Forget-me-nots among the snow, it's always been and so it goes To ponder his death and his life eternally For all of you who must discover, for all who seek to understand For having left the path of others, you find a very special hand And it is a holy thing, and it is a precious time And it is the only way Forget-me-nots among the snow, it's always been and so it goes To ponder his death and his life eternally One bright blue rose outlives all those Two thousand years and still it goes To ponder his death and his life eternally
“For all of you who must discover, for all who seek to understand for having left the path of others, you find a very special hand.” I hear this for the first time for years. It was so moving then and I knew the words but I haven’t thought of the words since, and very strange I have no idea the context of when I first heard it. I had certainly left the path of others, but who for me was ‘that very special hand’? Now I will have to imagine, but so far she is beyond reach even to imagination.
it is your hand . your feminine side is she. we always seek externally but everything lies within. the longest relationship we all have is with ourselves. I am a young woman with a big family, a long-term partner and plenty of friends but I feel a deep loneliness as far back as I can remember. spending time alone is what helps ironically. to connect again with myself. I hope you don't feel like a lonely man because you truly are not alone

One bright r😊os perfect alchemist, for all of you who must discover it is forgets me not eternal, understand special hand precious, amoung the snow. Bright blue rose
Jimmy McCarty, the composer was asked that many times and never really answered. The best interpretation I've heard is it's about the journey of a young man from ordinary life to the priesthood.
