I wish Christy would come to the US. I haven't been listing to him the last few months. I stumbled on to music. All I can say is WOW!!!! I'm going to get some of his music
Top class Declan Sinnott is a phenomenal guitarist that nylon string guitar makes that song !! He’s even using his pinky on the high E string top class fingerpicking!!Brian Armagh 🇮🇪🇮🇪
This is the best ever version that I have heard of this beautiful song by Jimmy MacCarthy about the legendry Jack Doyle. Christy puts so much feeling into singing the lyrics of this song you would almost think it was Jack Doyle himself. Wonderful.
@@frankelly5986 Hi Fran, Can you tell me some specific songs that you are thinking of? I ask because, as far as I understand, when a singer performs another performer’s work, gives credit and doesn’t “change a few lines” and then claim the work as his own, no harm is done. As far as I can see, Christy always gives credit. Also, has Christy ever had any “bad-blood / conflicts” with other singers over his cover versions of the their work? It may have happened, but I have never heard any such rumors, although I’m certainly not a “music world insider” at all.... I see your point, though; music and movies are VERY personal things; back in the 80s I hated “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House - and still do - because to me it the most depressing song I’ve ever heard, but my classmates at college still see it as a classic. Another example: I hated “Pulp Fiction,” yet me friend loved it; and in both cases I was right; as were they. I think you get what I’m saying; have a good night now!
Listen to the contender he sings, I could have lived my life between Cork, cove and yauhall..(soz about the spelling) the original is I could have lived my life without kasandras call.... there are sooooo many more that's just one off the top of my head
Christy Moore is a legend. Every song he sings contains genuineness. Regardless of who wrote them. The contender explains my situation the best way i can describe. Thank god for good music
Lyrics: Oh, when I was young, and I was in my day I could steal what woman's heart there was away I'd sing and dance until mornin' blaze away until the dawnin' Long before I was the man you see today I was born beneath the star that promised all I could've lived my life between Cork Cobh and Youghal But the Wheel of Fortune took me And from the highest point it shook me By the bottle live and by the bottle I shall fall And there in the mirror on the wall I see the dream is fadin' From the contender to the brawl The ring, the rose, the matador is ravin' And when I die, I'll die a drunk down on the street You can count me out to 10 in clear defeat Oh, wrap the starry plow around me And let the piper's air resound me There I'll rest until the Lord of love I'll meet And there in the mirror on the wall I see the dream is fadin' From the contender to the brawl The ring, the rose, the matador is ravin' Oh, wrap the starry plow around me And let the piper's air resound me There I'll rest until the Lord of love I'll meet
Nonsense.. you appear to know very little about Christy... Very few artists give credit to song writers or give a background to the theme of the song but Christy does, if we didn't have song writers we wouldn't have songs to sing and it's very encouraging for writers to get established artists to record and publicise their efforts.
