John Doe Your strict critique of grammar in an informal setting just shows that you want to feel superior. It is indicative of a colonial elite mindset. Language is a tool that is used to express meaning. His meaning was conveyed and his intent was kind. So why bother to correct him when he achieved what he sought out to do? He wasn't writing an essay or discussing difficult concepts, thus proper grammar is unnecessary.
