I went to their Album release in Long Beach on 2/20/2024. They did a fun Dj set, very funky and housey. It was great to meet Dave 1 and P-Thug. I do gotta say though, the album is pretty pop'y and not in a good way. The lyrics on this album are forgettable and boring. P-Thug barely is in it. There's not that much funk. I listed to the album 3 times in a row and it's hard to differentiate different songs from each other since they're so similar in key. I literally thought there was a problem with my CD in case there was an issue in burning tracks over and over. I was surprised to see that it wasn't the case. Just very "Chromeo'y". I was hoping they would go back to their funk-ness after their previous album was soooo fucking pop'y. I don't mind pop but its not a more mature sound considering their fan base is hitting their mid thirties/40's. TBH, I feel like it was a Dave 1, solo album....... At this point I wouldn't mind that, as long as P-Thug did his own too..... I still love Chromeo though. Thanks for the review! I felt very similarly!
