They are doing over 1/3 of their business with the Chinese scam company. They're just taking American jobs under false names and lies just like they took over. Our government business Kamala Harris i Communist left-wing liberal
If Stellantis won't sell Jeep, there is nothing stopping a new Chrysler Corp. from developing a line of economical 4wd vehicles under the Ram or Eagle nameplate.
@@donaldbrown9976 the rebirth of the Eagle would be outstanding particularly with an updated amc 4.0 they put into jeeps. Chryslers holds all those patents. Eagle was the first crossover 4wd of its kind that later spawned a bunch of escapes edges rav 4s Eagle was foundation of crossovers and still only one that can go off road or highway equally well.
Why? Stellantis isn't American so where's your hate there. I can guarantee you that BYD will actually revive those brands and make it affordable and a product the consumers will want.
the grandson has been on the board for 45years? How old is HE? He must be at least 70 years old. The employees of Chrysler could do a buyout WITH the grandson.
--As long as it isn't Vanguard, Blackrock or some sinister, anterior-motive bandits don't get their greedy little claws on it, and it becomes an "employee-owned" cooperative corporation, I'm all for it.
@@765kvline Absolutely - Those investment groups suck the blood out of a company for share value by paying the ridiculous CEO compensation mentioned here. When the company is on it's death bed, they'll see it to the Chinese.
Jeep has a tie to Chrysler the modern Jeep in CRAP and has lost its way the early meaning of the word JEEP Was Jiped and Cheep JEEP remember the Gypsy's we need the Jeep also
@@Deke1 Not sure how tariff rules work, but I think country of origin, I.e. where it is made, is what dictates tariffs, rather than where a company is headquartered. So (IF I’m correct) a Chevy made in China, or at least the components made there, is subject to tariffs, whereas a BYD (headquartered in Shenzhen, although some American investors for what that’s worth) made here would not be subject to tariffs. Parts brought in from China would be under tariffs, however.
Frank lives and breathes Chrysler. It will be a huge uphill challenge to restore Chrysler to what it was. When Daimler unhooked Chrysler it landed in Cerberus' backyard. The legacy of damage done by Bob Eaton will be difficult to repair. Chrysler would need a partner again with a small car lineup to fill the gaps like Mitsubishi did for them in the 70's and 80's.
That would be great to get Chrysler back state side. We need to start rebuilding US based brands. Having lived a fair amount of time in Midwest - a lot of great people from car industry (suppliers etc) to make it happen. Make Chrysler an employee own company. Only way to go. Spread the wealth and success.
The only trouble is, I for one would not trust the union to get a good deal for the employees in the negotiations for part ownership. I honestly think they would get a deal that is best for high level union, but not so great for the hourly rated down the road. I had over 30 years of watching the games they play!
I'm a chrysler employee and I hated when they closed the museum in auburn hills when fca got it it sucks they are erasing our heritage chrysler has lots of its plants in detroit still and just outside of it just stinks seeing it chipped away I love how some of the plants refuse to put up stellantis sign and have that beautiful pentastar on thier sign in front of it. Since 1963 it's been our identity and hated to come out after my shift and that new sign was up I'm in for buying it
Rhodes previously sent a letter to Fiat before Stellantis got involved in late 2020 - hopefully he can get the right financial people to buy into his latest idea. I agree with you that Stellantis will not sell Jeep as they are the crown jewels and have a greater value than the other three brands combined. Jeep was the only reason Chrysler bought AMC in 1987 and has helped the brand over all.
I have worked for Chrysler as a tech for over 40 years . they have made mistakes but so have other companies they are not perfect . Chrysler has been around for a long time and i hope it will stay as an American owned company it is part of our history.
Honestly this is some really good news to hear for Chrysler and Dodge for a while I hope good things keep coming after this and I hope the great grandson is serious enough to take back the company I would love to see it 😌
I was a huge Chrysler fan until 1979. Something happened to that company that almost ruined it. They need another Lee Iacocca. I loved his enthusiastic car commercials after being its new CEO. His most memorable line was "If you can find a better car, buy it. If you can get a better deal, take it." He did a pretty good job in turning Chrysler around for the better. Unfortunately, after Chrysler was acquired by foreign owners, they let the company starve by not investing in it, and milking all of its assets so it really could no longer seriously compete against its competitors. Then it gets sold off again, and the downward spiral continues again. I hope Chrysler's great grandson can pull this thing off somehow. I'd love to see Chrysler return to be the great company it was in the past.
Bob Eaton sold out to those slithering Germans at Daimler. Lido’s biggest mistake was not turning it over to Lutz. Let’s not forget this would have a much much better chance with help from a Trump administration. He lives for bringing back success to America!
Hell yeah save Chrysler! It's an AMERICAN icon. I've owned Dodges, Plymouths and De Sotos in my time. That was a way back, but they were very dependable cars. I think they should be brought back.
The real secret of success is enthusiasm. Walter Chrysler Let’s see if his great grandson can pull this off and continue an American iconic brand. Long live the big 3!!!
I am a current Jeep owner and long time fan. With that being said, Jeep seems to be a curse on any company that lusted after it and then finally purchased it. Only to later sell it to someone else. First example, American Motors Corp. P.S. I am also a long time AMC fan boy, and I will never forget my AMX.
I kept writing, the 300 needed to spring off multiple models. Magnum finally looked good 2008 last model. Why not magnum sedan? Why not multiple other names with new nose and tail. But keeping center section of the 300. Last model of 300, I keep thinking that back fender ridge would look good with a slope back 1956 Belvedere- Savoy- Fury fin light. What if front had rounded fenders for mini Cooper headlights. Grill 1956 inspired.
300 was the last RH drive capable cars to RH nations. It needed to be like the K car with multiple new noses and tails & wagon options. Magnum wagon was OK, but I wished they would have offered a high roof version similar to Vista cruiser & Skylark wagons of the 60's.
I keep wondering why couldn't 2mode hybrid transmission work with 3.6L in the 300 platform? Wouldn't the 300 & Magnum look good as a ute pickup? Rancho/ El Camino.
I'm African but have been following Chrysler as a brand. It is not hard to turn around with the right management. Remember the Chrysler turbine car, its innovations and experience to the customers. That spirit needs to come back to America and I am sure the car it still turns heads. Jay Leno has a team that's working on his turbine car with Williams Engineering and I'm sure that I and and all of them would love to be part of rebirth of the brand if you let them know about this. I hope this pulls off even in the case were Jeep would be lost.
I miss the Chrysler Corporation of my youth! Bring it back. I view the historical downfall starting with the LH platform hitting the market and putting Robert Eaton, instead of Bob Lutz, in charge, as they finally had cars that sold well and were cutting edge in the 90's. My personal belief is that Eaton's past with GM took over at this point. Because of this, I believe the engineers forgot their roots in a short time (the company that had one starter for MOST applications for 40 plus years, to creating parts and designs that were brand-specific, and value-engineered, even critical parts, etc.). I do not know if it is true, but I have heard that Lee Iacocca was FURIOUS at the proposal of letting Daimler buy into Chrysler in 1998. The "co-equal" Daimler/Chrysler was not horrible, but it was the beginning of the current demise in which we currently see the company. This news somehow, brings new pride of ownership to the Walter P Chrysler Signature Edition 300 my wife and I currently own. 😃 Make it a NON-union company, if at all possible, though.
I was watching some old motor week videos of mid 90's Chrysler corp, just as they were about to hit their stride an am amazed at how in such a short time how ruthlessly a great company has been gutted
I would love to see this happen. I humbly suggest, just let Jeep go. Make 'Rams' a Dodge again, and bring back the Ramcharger/Trailduster nameplates to out "Jeep" them. Preferably on a shortened full size truck platform like the originals.
I would like to add make Ram a Dodge again and keep the Dodge name on trucks and SUV’s, put the Chrysler name on all new sedans coming forward. And if they need a line up of cheap cars then re-launch the Plymouth name again to keep it separate from the more upscale cars
Fascinating idea. Saving ChryCo from the brink yet again. However, the reality is that the moment China Corp. begins to sell decent cars in the USA for $15K, all the flag-waving suddenly ends and everyone lines up to snap up one or more of them. It'll be the end of the legacy automakers and even Tesla.
Let them keep jeep, They will never sell Another jeep in the USA. Buy the rest of the former Chrysler Corperstion and put it back under U S ownership. Stellantis willing to give Jeep back, When they finally realize they cooked there Goose In America. Bring Chrysler Home! 😊
Yes please!!!! I was at the dealership today for a small issue on the WB. They are worried and want to see a quick and quality American return. My dealer is a good one and they care about the brand and customers. Btw my car was repaired quickly and it makes me appreciate my situation with a good dealer and a great car that I enjoy. Hopefully it stays that way!!!!!
Do chrysler and dodge even have five distinct models? The writing has been on the wall almost ten years. Without some distinctive products, it's tough to support a dealer network.
They could make a cheap pickup truck with crank windows and no electronic shit and out sell everybody else. Hell, I could do it, sell me the company. Chrysler has become, "We're Number 3, We're number 3!" Come on , come back kids!! Walter P was a great man, we need more great men. Let's have some slant six, cross injection ass kickers!
Sadly, government regulations would make your head spin. Spoiled and lazy Americans won't give up their creature comforts. Try selling a Chevy Biscayne today much less a strippo Delray.
You mention the "slant six." Arguably, that was probably the best six cylinder engine America ever made. I always wonder why Chrysler ever discontinued it.
For Chrysler to remain I see three things it needs. Good American management. Who thinks long term. Cooperation of the unions. The federal government not requiring Chrysler build cars that Americans do not want to buy. Get rid of federal mandates. Let the consumer market decide
We don’t need any more low quality gas hogs but high quality affordable cars that the average American can afford. The Asian car companies ate our lunch a long time ago.
A voice of reasoning from the grandson. I hope this really gets to the interest of ones who want to see the American iconic brands stay alive as American iconic brands. As of now we are losing what brands we have known for many years as leaders in the industry. Lets push for the revitalization of brands we want to see in another 100 years and as American brands.
I wish him and the potential investors the best of luck. If I may share a similar story: If you are aware of the model rocketry hobby, you know about Estes, the premier model rocket company. A few years ago, Estes was owned by a failing hobby company called Hobbico and was doing okay but not spectacular. Bill Stine, the son of model rocketry pioneer G. Harry Stine, was able to purchase Estes and turn it around.
This would be a fitting transition back to American ownership. My grandfather and great uncle spent 30 years of their lives working for Chrysler as pattern and die makers from 1946 on, and it’s time for Chrysler to truly come back to the Motor City. That would be an epic American comeback! 11:44
Hey buddy, in California, the dealership here won’t budge on price and only came down on the dealer mark up , and still wants MSRP of last year model and dealer add on , and state there are no factory incentives, in my opinion it’s greed .
If I had a lot of money to spare I would definitely give it to save The Chrysler Corporation. Also, if we can get people to buy stock into Stellantis we could force them to sell Jeep in with Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler.
Been a Mopar fan for decades. The ONLY non Mopar car we’ve owned since the early 70s was we needed a really large SUV and ended up selling our Durango and buying a 2016 Yukon XL Denali. Bid mistake! Electrical gremlins that came and went. Ride quality was very poor (in my opinion) for GMCs most luxurious marque. We missed our Durango right from the start. Then around 50,000 miles, the 8 speed transmission started shifting terribly. Occasionally, it wouldn’t shift out of first gear or would SLAM into another gear (there is a class action suit against GM) and dealerships denied any problems. My wife was in a slight motorcycle accident and was having a hard time getting in and out. That was the final straw. Traded it in with our local Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealer. Our grandsons are older and we really enjoyed going places with our son, his wife and the boys, but they have other thing to do than family trips now. We are very happy with our 2023 Chrysler 300 Touring! And it’s much easier for me to keep clean!
Maybe the great grandson should establish a way for american citizens to each give one dollar And he could match that with his own money And by having american citizens invest into the brand, they could all become share holders, and have a say in what models of cars, trucks, grocery getters should be built The same way that the Green Bay Packers did, for the citizens of Green Bay when the team was first established And have the stock give dividends to each share holder, who did their part to keep Chrysler an american brand for many more years to come
