Readers, don't just "like" this song. BUY THIS SONG so that we can change the course of the music that is being played. Let's let our dollars be our voices.
I agree and you could not have said it better. Hip Hop has so much influence in this world and it isn't used how it should be used to make things better. Check out the website hiphophumanism.com. You might find it interesting.
Back in the day PE had a song Bring the Noise and it said "radio stations I question your blackness, you call yourself black but we'll see if you'll play this"
I love this song. Going to buy it right now. It has been a while since I've heard music I want to put money behind. Ironically I just came to RU-vid just now because I miss Chuck D and wanted to hear something new. Nice to see a grown man making grown man music instead of pretending to be a child. Thank you Sister Staples. Thank you Rhyme Animal.
OMG I love this song. Brings back my childhood. When I was a kid the Staple Singers was the group I heard on the music box in my family Restaurant in the 70s. My first grade teacher gave me her record player. A small square box I never seen before lol When I found out what it did I went to a record store and bought my first 45 record Respect Yourself. My second time going I saw there LP with there picture on it called Respect Yourself. My fist LP. I Love them all. My favorite group in the world. Thank you Chuck awesome work!! I never heard of you until I saw you on Mavis FaceBook page lol
Now you all can hear the quality of the lyrics and message. This is the yard stick of what hiphop was measured by back then when HipHop was HipHop. Let's hope these new artist pay attention and be more creative.
Well done! Take a bow, Chuck and Mavis! Pride is so gone its scary. And I'm not talking about any one community either. Where is the pride in our right to privacy? So few care so little --iSpy
It takes a legend Chuck D to showcase a legend ....Chicago own's Mavis....They didn't need NO NEW wack ass artist trying to rap to fit their nonsense on a track but aint true or care about the meaning...ayo didn't common have an album that just came out... dang would have been nice to hear him on this track but he chose janah aiko or some ish to promote...long sigh oh well... do what you gotta do to keep the lights on ... #truth
ef the lights. You do what you gotta do to reach the masses with truth. And Mavis is the TRUTH. If you just worried about making loot you will always put out some watered down garbage that no one will remember 5 years from now. But I bet they'll still be playing THIS track long into the future
This is Totally Sublime, Chuck D & Mavis Staples, Gospel singer extraordinaire, YAY, long time overdue... Sang it Mavis, cause you can give it SOULFul vibes, we all need to hear this, its so uplifting in these trying times!! KTF, give all of we some Pride, Dance like noone's watching while singing along to it.P R I D E.
Thanks for supporting. I even tried to get it on the Tom Joyner show but they told me "radio don't work that way"...It fits their format....But we keep it moving
resurgence of the old soul from time as religion to call out a congregation shout of the people proud. keep Chucking the need to hear with a Staples for added stick.
