Some of the terms being used here are terms that some people aren’t familiar with even in 2021. Chuck D is a legend, I have a lot of respect for him 👍🏼👍🏿
Speaking as an English person myself (though I don't live there anymore), we have our good past, such as what we've given to the world of electronics, sport and arts, and of course we have our bad past, such as colonialism, the slave trade, the decline of Celtic languages in Britain, etc.
@wossy questioning the Muslim Faith 8 mins into this interview. Granted it was a long time ago and maybe his views have changed, but why question Chuck D about the Muslim Faith and not question Tom Cruise about Scientology.
Dghoste Vercetti Click D is far from a fool at all, and why you ask is Chuck D wearing gloves is maybe Chuck D wants to wear gloves, have you ever thought about that at all.
@sokmeto purt - the gloves are not foolish. They are part of the military concept of the group! It was also part of the image of the S1Ws which was the group chuck would have on stage while he performed! They provided security for Public Enemy. They were all tough looking martial arts experts dressed in army fatigues wearing gloves like soldiers do and that commanded people’s attention. They would also usually perform army marching drills with mock Uzis pointing at the ground! Militancy and toughness was part of their image. Their performance and political message was a stage act that people took very seriously. You have to imagine that at that time - George Floyd situations were normal and that because internet didn’t exist it meant People killed blacks for fun and faced no repercussions. Part of Chucks message was about educating people about 400 years of slavery and the fact that oppression and supremacy by another race still existed at that time! His shows were mixed with fans from all cultures - Asian, Arab, Black, White! That in itself was amazing!
