My parents took me to the premiere in LA for my birthday as a kid. Chuck was there and I got his autograph. My ten year-old head just about exploded from the sheer badassery of it all. 😵🤯
This film came out a few years before the Ninja Boom with such Cannon films like Enter the Ninja with Sho Kosugi, American Ninja and so on. I love 80's martial arts movies, and this one is great too.
Saying either Chuck or Richard is bad is a real overstatement. Theyre not bad actors, really. Both of them were amazing in the 80s. They do supercede the best of their abilities in movies but at least they dont fake them. Just doing purely as they went.
Anybody interested in the original movie Katana sword chuck norris carried in The movie the octagon ? The handle got repaired with oak and leather missing the little knife in saya Has a almost all the way fixed ding in blade from fights in the movie Needs polished but is pretty sharp Its a high carbon steel and has been through many battles And has a bad ass brown sharkskin covered saya with strips of bamboo lining Does a smooth superfast quick draw
I noticed that character Scott casted by Norris his half-brother who was disowned by his clan was the same actor in American Ninja as The Black Star Ninja. I also liked the fight scene with the Ninja Enforcer. Thought he was weird how he hisses like a cat.
Im a Huge Chuck Norris Fan I have all His Movies Including The Octagon anyone else Notice The Guy That Played John Kirby In Silent Rage In One of The Scenes In This Movie. My Fave Chuck Norris Movies are Invasion USA, Lone Wolfe McQuade, Silent Rage, Delta Force, Missing In Action 2&3, The Hitman, FireWalker
I was 13 when this came out in theatre's, my mom took a whole gang of us kids to see it in the only theatre in existence a town over from the one-horse town where I'm from. We were just little dip-shit country kids and we'd never seen anything like The Octagon and after the movie was over we exploded out onto the sidewalk and started smacking the shit out of each other trying to emulate Chuck but wound up falling everywhere from failed spin-kicks...what a great film!
Great to see you folks from the AFD days as your Print Controller / Booker... hello and respects to Eric, Alan, Jean, Sandy and Aaron (how's the knee?) and good brother Chuck (from when I was an Extra Casting Coordiantor on AN EYE FOR AN EYE). I learned lots from you all and it is much, much, mucho appreciated! D.A. ps: Guess what? Our little converted 1920's built two-story house into offices was, prior to our being there on North Seward in the mid-80's, the early production offices for a list of such classics as: (Gruskoff / Trumbull Productions) SILENT RUNNING (my favorite film of all time) ... and a few years earlier for Dennis Hopper's turn as the director of EASY RIDER and more ...
I noticed they never did one of these for Good Guys Wear Black. I wonder why Norris left American Cinema and moved on after The Octagon. Love to know who designed the poster, as it is cool. It is one of his best films, A Force of One too.
Yea, It was unnecessary. I like his description and his thought process of why they did it, but in truth it’s rather annoying in the context of enjoying the movie
Norris' films I think were not given the credit they deserved because Brcue Lee's fandom was still super strong. A time when moviegoers were just looking to be "entertained" (e.g. flashy kicks, one man vs army...type films). Not being critical of plots. Looking for passable acting performances. Bruce Lee had so much on-screen charisma he was able to hypnotize millions into "worshiping him" and ignoring the HUGE holes in the scrips of his films. The bad dialogue. Bad acting. And had people had the internet as we know it today in 2022....that would have helpted them see through Brcue Lee. A man that was all about the show tthan being a real martial artist. with a credible background. Norris' films all make sense. Some films very simple but they made sense. Where most MA films fall on their faces (IHMO) is in understanding things like: How humans can't take clean punches and kicks to the head without losing consciousness. That in a fight where weapons are incolved some don't get back up and walk away (Perfect Weapon--Jeff Speakman). That the CIA wouldn't recruit an ex-Shoalin Monk to do "spy work" (Enter The Dragon) who ends up forgetting Shaolin Kung Fu...LOL!! Who happens to be an expert in nunchucks (Japanese) and Kali sticks (Filipino). ...or why on a private island in the HK harbour owned by a drug/prostituion lord recruiting MA talent would only bring in Karate people....that all the CHIENSE on the isalnd were practicing KARATE!! :)) No Kung Fu greats. NO TKD or Hapido champions. Western boxing. Wrestlers...etc. Most MA films are as poorly written as a XXX film. As poorly acted. only differene is on one film they BLANK....
