I saw Escape from New York recently on DVD and saw this interview. So sad to hear such a kind person like that dying. One year after this interview. Really appreciate her work!
JC you absolute legend.❤. Halloween, Big Trouble In Little China and THIS = easily among most watched film/S. Can't believe it was done on that budget! + Fair-Play Debra Hill.👍
The bridge they bought and used still stands and u can walk on it. It is not in st. Louis but granite city, illinois on the Mississippi river at the Levi
John Carpenter said got it right, anything made by people is severely open to becoming problematic. Perfection for all of us is nothing more than a point of view. Not many of us can comprehend everyone's different views of perfection. But there are various popular ideals that so many of us can grasp. Which many us these ideals as guidelines in our daily lives. Can we all unanimously agree with ideals? Of course not, mostly because so many of us highly value our individuality of separating ourselves from everyone else. The downside is so many people the world over do evil things that make the rest of us question our own freedom. Politicians love that cause those types of situations make us place so much faith and power with them. So ask yourself these questions here and now. How valuable is your freedom? Are willing to sacrifice your freedom for what politicians tell you is for the greater good of the world? After you answer those questions you will know who you are and what you stand for unapologetically.
Yeah but he's dead wrong because Authority comes down from God. What we do here, and how we twist it is of little consequence, it's a God made construct. It's an objective reality.
@@EQOAnostalgia Even if that's is true. Don't trust those in positions of power too much. As we have seen lately so many people out there abuse their positions. All in the name of their own hidden agenda. Not all laws and rules are for our own well being. So many are designed to keep the general public down. Not to paint all of them with that brush. Just beware of authority and how much of a bearing it has in your life.
There is no one else who could have played Snake Plissken but Kurt Russell. I could not see Tommy Lee Jones playing him, he is just not intimidating at all. This movie would never have become a cult classic with Tommy Lee Jones as the main character. John Carpenter, the late Debra Hill, and Nick Castle brought this movie to life and it has stood the test of time as depicting the first anti-hero in motion pictures. I also have to say the soundtrack created by Carpenter for this film was pure brilliance.
"Anything that's constructed by man is... it perhaps may not be perfect". Wrong. His movies for sure are. Assualt, Halloween, The Fog, Espace from NY, They Live, The Thing. Perfect movies.
Yeah proved she's a short sided moron politically... Libertarians are like grown toddlers.. the whole philosophy is If I want to do it. I will and f*ck everybody else... Oh besides my roads and schools and everything else. I don't want to pay for..
Did you hear what Debra said at 12:50? She is 100% correct in that government no matter the size cannot legislate morality..... But that is what they are trying to do in 2020
@@1971mav All churches of the "world" are immoral, starting with the whore of Revelation 13 and 17.. that woman being the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH... The harlot who has MANY DAUGHTERS.. The harlot is also the LITTLE HORN of (Daniel 7)
Last time I checked, laws against murder, rape, theft, etc is legislating morality. Humans make up rules to benefit society and other people. So your argument makes no sense. Legislating people to have equal rights, so they don’t get discriminated against, makes absolute sense. Also, churches preach about wanting to legislate their own version of morality based on the Bible. Are you against that?
@@robzilla730 if you think supporting issues such as single payer healthcare, and being anti war, anti corruption and anti-drug war, is “fascist”, then I think you’re brain dead.
@@EQOAnostalgia L.A used to be worse though, Crack and Gangs in the 80s was alot worse than homeless camps. The Police corruption like the rampart scandal was also systemic throughout the LAPD. The crime rate is lower now than it was when i was growing up.
I have seen the unused footage he robs a bank with another guy and they escape on the subway but get caught and his friend gets shot in front of snake its on RU-vid look for the outtakes 😊
@@barryglenister792 yes, I've seen that footage, which was awesome. I just wish he would have included it in the movie, in addition to how some of the prisoners on the island knew or had heard of him.
Do you wanna hear irony? John is obviously anti right wing and caters for that in some of his movies but today if he wanted a post apocalyptic scenario he would film in democratic controlled states :)
Totally. Democrats are today's fascists/communists. Trump was actually more Plissken like than Pleasance. But because he was white and Republican AND mainstream media told us to hate him. He actually gave a fuck about the country.
One of the BEST post apocalyptic films made... without giving too much away during the scenes it says A LOT about the direction everyone thought society was going.... and may still go :)
A great movie! I was too young to get into the theater to see it when it came out so I had to wait years but when I finally saw it I wasn't disappointed.
It was put on the Shout Factory Blu to the best of my knowledge. It neat and cool, but you can see why it wasn't necessary to the film. Slowed things up.
Snake cares a little. At least. He didn't like that the president didn't care about the lives of the people who died rescuing him. Snake destroyed the real tape because of it. So Snake cares on some level.
That's right, the key is anti-HERO, he's still a hero, anti just denotes that he's not your standard paragon of righeousness, an anti-hero is still the hero at the end of the day. I just think John likes to take the piss with people who like good guys, he's a bit of an edgelord like some of his fans with goats for avatars and 666 in their name.
As in issues with those two scenes specifically, or you just had to do it a couple of times anywhere to avoid getting removed. Just curious in case I upload any. 😊 Have subscribed, you have some good material, love these behind-the-scenes vids.
The guy had a piece of wood attached to the back of his head, so the bat would strike only that part and attach to that. The camera angle does not show the back of his head of course.
Carpenter is a genius movie wise and music wise. He really needs to team up with Russell one more time before it's too late. Then again every remake from hollyweird of Carpenter movies have been complete shit.
