I wouldn't do that the chukars are very aggressive and will kill the chickens. If you have a bunch make sure that they are not crowded because they'll get aggressive with each other I have a friend that put some with his pheasant's and they killed everything.
I always say I’m gonna eat em, or keep em to breed… but they are a pain the but to keep really, and I end up selling them as live birds and make a schitt ton of money…
I would think you could but the only thing is make sure not to overcrowd them or have too many males they will get very aggressive they need room and a place to hide at times I use 5-gallon buckets cut longways. hope this helps.
@@PadillasPoultry thanks....I pre ordered some birds and trying to decide what to build for them....I currently keep jumbo corturnix quail and was wondering if they could be in an oversized quail hutch...thanks for your reply
You should be fine till they get bigger you'll know if it big enough or not. They like to pile up when they're small and will smother each other so make sure you don't have any corners in your brooder use some cardboard to round off your corners this should help. You can e-mail at padillaspoultry@gmail.com. Thank you, Mike.
@@PadillasPoultry appreciate the help!....I will definitely round corners in my broader...I think I'm going to build a aviary for when they mature...thanks again
@ Bracey Rice No problem, one more thing you want to buy a cheap blender from the dollar store so you can grind their feed it will make it easier for them to eat cause they're so small.
@@PadillasPoultry thank you for the information I bought but two weeks ago 100 chukars , but now I'm watching them there's about 20 of them they are running after each other and beating each other almost to death and I believe those are the roosters , but my problem having that many of them the in same place it's hard for me to go catch them and separate them
Yeah I know I'm in Southeast New Mexico. I don't know how old yours are but when they're young still in the brooder I've had them pile up and smush each other had to round off the corners to keep them from doing that and had them peck at each other at that age I had to cut back on the light to help with that problem. Once they get older you'll need more room to help with them killing each other. I cut 5-gallon buckets in half longways and use them as hidden spots this will help also. our grow-out pen is 10 x 20 for 50 birds and just before spring we will cut them back to 20 hens and 3 males and that's what works for us and will breed some for sell and around the last of June will hatch some replacements and put all the breeders from that year in the freezer. If you like you can email me at padillaspoultry@gmail.com. Thanks. Mike
