Big ol belly nailed a channel cat the other night that had a deer hoof in it's belly. I had some kind of fruit,nuts big half digested cray fish and a deer hoof in my tank the next morning. They are feeding hard

Yeah one of the rare times I have kept one of my trophy channel cats, I found a baby duck in his belly. It was the craziest thing ever. I have only kept that one trophy fish cause I release all fish now and especially trophy cats. But he was my first trophy channel cat and it was when I was young.

@@survivingwith812catfishing yeah I agree, a deer hoof is pretty cool and crazy. They will eat almost any food source they can and the big ones really turn into meat eaters.

@@reelcatfishing4479 well know it works overnight for chumming for carp with corn and other chum for carp . I'm sure chumming small pieces of carp or small bait fish a few hours before fishing a spot would work pretty well . I'll be watching 👀 lol 🤫

Best chum assistant is the wind. You wanna catch cats from the bank have the wind at your back. Forget about the chum use your baits as the chum
@reelcatfishing4479
@reelcatfishing4479 5 лет назад
U actually wanna have the wind in your face. Wind blown at ur face will push all the tiny things like Algae and stuff to the bank your fishing, this creates a chain reaction. Bait fish follow creating action in the water as they feed then bringing in predator fish such as catfish. I'm just doing the chumming videos to try to find something that my bring a hotter bite. I do agree the wind helps a ton just the opposite direction.
@chipsammich2078
@chipsammich2078 5 лет назад
@@reelcatfishing4479 I only want the wind blowing in my face when I'm catching fish that use their sense of site to eat all those little things washed in on the bank white bass,crappie, even flatheads maybe. But Cats are scent fish barely sight. you want your scents rolling out away from you covering a bigger area of water not stopping at the bank at your feet.. I've been bank fishing Cats for 20 years they always bite better when the winds at my back.. no other fish is like this really.. unconventional I know but time has proved this for me..
@chipsammich2078
@chipsammich2078 5 лет назад
Think about it do you want your chum stopping at the bank or rolling into the deeps way out from you. More cats are out away from you (when bank fishing) than strolling between you and your baits almost always in any lake. I'm seriously not trying to be arrogant or a know it all but when you go back get the wind blowing out or if your on a big point try a cross wind.. get back to me on your results Now if the winds been pushing all the shit up on back all day you wanna get your baits in those established fish.
@reelcatfishing4479
@reelcatfishing4479 5 лет назад
I can see what your saying being true in ponds and smaller lakes. These big lakes fed by big rivers such as the Tennessee river that I'm fishing here have a ton of current...especially fishing in outside bends like I was here. It is over 50ft deep in the main channel there and a very steep drop from the bank. I'm probably hitting just over 40ft with my baits. Would wind affect my scent travel at that depth especially if it was against current. Idk but I do know that surface things like the algae which the shad chase will be blown by the wind and knowing that this is a top food source in my waters tells me as long as the shad are close to me then so will the fish that eat the shad. I actually have a few videos where I wasn't getting bites for a long period of time and the wind shifted in my favor. Within a half hour I had shad feet from the bank and then caught several catfish. Where i have such constant current in the lake I fish, I rely more on the current to spread my scent if that's all I have to work with at the time.
@reelcatfishing4479
@reelcatfishing4479 5 лет назад
I don't think your being arrogant. I'm open to learn anything and I will fish a condition like this with the wind to my back and may even make a few videos comparing the 2

Can you do a video of where to target catfish? I’ve tried a lot of different areas. Using live/cut bluegill, chicken cubes w and w/o garlic, worms and chicken livers. Best I’ve done is 5 bullheads on chicken liver in a day(that’s it😞). Went out several times this month. 4rods with Carolina rigs 4/0 and 8/0 circle hooks. Somewhat new to catfishing, thanks

Yes. What type of water are you fishing in. River, lake or pond
@chipsammich2078
@chipsammich2078 5 лет назад
Couple tips for you buddy. Use natural baits that are in your waters, stinky stuff shad, carp, even worms. Chicken breast livers stink bait all that shit works but I'd only use them after establishing there's fish biting.. if you ain't caught a cat in 30 minutes and you got good baits spread your in the wrong spot.. simple as that.. I've fished tonight in 4 different spots in 2 hrs 1 fish per spot.. if you ain't mobile you won't catch them plain and simple

We went fishing this weekend at Taylorsville Lake here in KY. We didn’t have any luck with our rods but we sat out about 10 lines and caught 4 real nice blues around the banks on gills. It was my first time setting lines. I’m going to try chumming the water next time we go fishing.

At age 83, trying to catch large catfish. New rig....Okuma Classic Pro XT and 10 ft Shakespeare Big water pole. Live in Oklahoma City....places to fish...Lake Hefner, Lake Overholser and the North Canadian River. Based on your experience....do you catch more fish in the early morning hours or just before sun set? And which is better.........cut bait or llive bait? I have learned a great deal from your videos and I thank you for that......keep em chumming!

It's hard to say which is better when it comes to sunset or sunrise. Because of conveince I mostly fish sunset and do well right before the sunsets however everytime I got before sunrise and fish a few hours of the morning, I get into a hot bite and sometimes some big fish. Both are great times but for the bite I would give the edge to sunrise this time of the year. As far as bait goes, I love cut bait the most. I've caught way more fish on cut bait then live bait. I still use both almost every trip but cut bait out performs everytime. I hope this helps and if there is anything else I can help with feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer then I may know someone who does. Thanks!

I have noticed in multiple videos, your buddy allows tension off the line at times and you know that isn't good. And he doesn't have good rod control on your casting rod/baitcaster ones, because he holds the rod below the reel instead of above the reel, thus causing him to not have good control of the rod and not as good of leverage as he could have. Over time he will learn and get better. It's a common mistake allot of people make.
